Whats my best chance to get a MW3 "Hardened" Edition(360) next week?

I made the mistake again this year of only pre-ordering the standard edition of MW3 at my local Gamestop. And now I would really like to upgrade to the $99.99 "Hardened" edition to get the benifits of the extra "Elite" status that comes with that version. Whats my best chance of being able to walk into a B&M store on that Tuesday morning and scoring a copy.

Thanks,
Anthony

p.s.
I am able to pass a K-Mart, Best Buy, TRU, and a Walmart pretty early on Tuesday morning if that helps me out at all.

p.s.s.
Will the "Elite" status for MW3 be available to purchase with X-Box Marketplace points? Or is it only a cash only stand-alone only purchase?

I don't know anything about the contents but if past versions are anything to go by, these will be rotting on Best Buy's shelves for months. I really doubt you'll have trouble getting one, at launch day or otherwise.

The Hardened Edition of Black Ops actually sold out pretty quickly - the prestige editions are the ones that usually rot on the shelves.

I would have to disagree. Their is only one CE this year and they are pushing the Elite package pretty hard which this one happens to include at a price that is cheaper the elite package on its own. Couple that with the fact that most retailers are OOS and have stopped taking preorders for some time and I think what ever inventory was squirelled away for in store purchases will be gone by the end of the month if not much sooner

Doh. Shows how much attention I pay this series. Sorry OP. I guess I just had the impression there was less hype for this entry than Black Ops.

Still, I can't see it being too hard to get on launch day if you check enough stores but I'm not even sure which chains are carrying it.

Edit: In-stock for 360 at TRU, I know you said B&M but if it's really sold out take what you can get. Release day shipping fwiw. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12131512&prodFindSrc=search

This is going to sound very bizarre, but I think it could work:

Go to Sears.

You heard me right. Although they don't carry as many as other B&Ms, I went there one time looking for clearanced PSPs and found 4 of them. My guess is they'll have 1-4 Hardened Editions.

You can still order it at Walmart.com. If you don't want to wait the best bet would be to stop by a Walmart at midnight; they probably will only have 1 or 2 per store. Based on last year the flippers will be seeing $$$$ and clean places out fast, so you will see them all posted on eBay and Amazon for $200. (Usual sad deal, since they have 90 days to sell for outrageous profit or else they just return and get their money back.)

I just pre ordered the hardened at the Microsoft Store. They still have Forza 4 LE's sitting on their shelves. I would also stop by the Best Buy early morning.

I agree with going to Sears, pretty much no one goes there for games, I think that is the best chance. Either that go to a retailer like Best Buy who gets tons of stock, they will probably have some. You could also try Walmart, as they usually get a ton of stock.

I want the MW3 system bundle, and I have one preordered at Newegg. I don't think I will be able to find that in my area at all, especially since the Gears of War system bundle is already impossible to find.

Almost no stores in my area got the GOW system bundle, Target had 2-3 and they were gone the first day, and there is not a restock in sight. Walmart had some but again gone with no restock in sight and I am not sure about Sears and Kmart but I didn't look there. I don't have BB in my area.

Its also going to depend on the location of the store, try finding a store that is in a smaller town with less stores nearby and not one that is in a huge shopping plaza, you have a better chance at finding hard to find items at those types of stores.

lol..... If you go to sears make sure you go look at some television sets first, I'm sure you will get help real fast that way or else you will be waiting at the gaming case for a minute.

I know as of 9/29/11 GS was sold out of the hardened edition but I was able to make a prepay at BB. A few people I know were able to make a prepay at BB as soon as this past week. If you wait until release day to get one, you're playing with fire. Do a prepay if you can. Of course you might find one somewhere.... a month or so after release.

I hear GS is pushing the vanilla copy with a year of elite for $110. You will pay an extra $10 and miss out on all the other goodies.

Yeah I agree on that too you are playing with fire if you want to get the hardened edition on day 1 somewhere walk-in. I suggest hitting the stores at opening, particularly the ones that aren't doing midnight release.

I think you have a chance if you hit Walmart at opening, provided they are not doing midnight release.

But if you are going to Sears wait a little longer since their gaming department isn't as fast as the others, you won't have to be there at opening.

Remember to pick a store in a less populated area if possible.

If you really want it you could try waiting for Amazon, and order it but you would have to wait for shipping, and I assume you want to have this on day 1.

Amazon was taking pre-orders for hardened editions before but aren't anymore. I ordered one myself on October 15th.

Yeah Amazon stopped on Oct 20. I was going to wait to see if they added a credit deal, decided I might as well get it anyway since I want to play MW3 and ordered Oct 19. Imagine my relief when I saw it oos the next day.

Anyway I talked to some guys at Gamestop before about this, and they said to just show up during the release, that's when someone will have cancelled and their freshly cancelled copies will be sitting up for the grabs.

If you try Wal-mart or something and don't find it, go to Gamestop 2 days after launch. They're only required to hold a game for 2 days when pre-ordered iirc, so after that you can swoop in and buy it.

I am not worried too much about it now. I will just pick up a regular copy at k-mart and get in on the deal for the 4000 points card and get the "Elite" status that way. That way it ends only costing me $90.00 plus tax not the $100.00 plus tax the Hardened Edition was going to run me.

I think you will be able to get it if you show up at a store at midnight launch or right at store opening, but you have to show up to a store that has a lot of copies, like Best Buy or Walmart. Again though its possible it could sell out really fast, and once again you are playing with fire. For every popular thing that comes out my Walmart gets a crapload in, for one of the Harry Potter book releases they actually had 2-3 pallets of them up front.

Kmart and Sears are a chance too because less people think to go there for games, but Kmart seems more likely than Sears.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Gamestop won't sell copies designated for pre-orders until like 48 hours after the games release or something like that. I'd think they'd apply that restriction whether a pre-order was cancelled or not.

Gamestop? Hahah seriously? Their employees will buy up any copies not picked up or claimed and resell them. Your chances of finding an extra copy there are slim IMO.

The employees cannot resell, its in their contract. Of course many probably do, but if they get caught they get fired.

That's the same for all retailers... their are a million work arounds; most employees will just hold items for a friend or family member.

Anyways.. IMO it's a real bad sign that GoHastings hasn't sold out yet. I anticipate a lot cancellations in the near future
