The cllassic Looney Tunes Cartoon is available for free in 720p. Not sure if this is a limited time thing or what, but if you have kids please let them see what cartoons were like pre PC.

Ha! thanks for the heads up, i just purchased "Duck Amuck" earlier just for the love of it. and I freakin love "Whats opera Doc". Downloading it right now

Any other toons free as well would be a good heads up.

Downloaded it, and on the right side when you go to play it it says "does not expire", so I assume it isn't a rental. Pretty great for free.

Ah, that's a CLASSIC cartoon. I think it was once voted the best cartoon short of all time.

But do they have "One Froggy Evening?" Michigan J. Frog is awesome!

I don't have a 360 yet though....

Just got a 360 yesterday so forgive the noob question, but how will a 720p video display on my 1080i tv? Will it "down convert" to the 1080i or just not play at all? I remember this toon from my youth and would love to check it out in HD. Thanks.

Yes that one as well as "Rabbit of Seville" are there. I didn't see any other Merry Melodies, but I think there are a little over 40 episodes total broken down in category by Bugs, Daffy (Duck Amuk is there as well as Robin Hood Daffy), Road Runner, Porky, Tweety/Sylvester, and Other. It looks like they took some of the better ones from the first 2 DVD releases.

Side note does anyone know the name of the one were the pit bull is protecting the little kitten and the old cat is trying to get rid of both the dog and kitten? I really want to show my daughter that one as we have a soft spot for pits and kittens as we have a rescued of each.

It doesn't show free for me...Very limited time unless there is an alternate way to get to it.

edit: i'm blind. I was reading the MBs as the point cost. I wondered why there was such a big difference

thanks OP. picked up the freebie. i was disappointed no marvin martian selections. and the one daffy duck selection i'd like to have had, duck dodgers in the 24th + 1/2 century, was the only one without the HD option. what the hell?! IT'S THE 24th + 1/2 CENTURY! may still have to snag one froggy evening, though.

note that the HD is 720 fullscreen, not widescreen. don't have much experience with XBLA tv shows, so don't know if this should have caught me by surprise or not.

Looney Tunes aren't TV Shows. The shorts were produced for theatrical screening, in the old Academy Frame aspect ratio which is approximately 4:3. The only way to show Looney Tunes in widescreen is to slice 25% off the image, and this is image that the original animators expect you to see.
