had my friend drive me a good half hour to wait for a GC, and other stores in the area were sellin games in advance, so I was treckin through the area buyin games and accessories.


i wore my snoogans hat non stop in the winter


i got tons of cartoons on DVD


i imported mario diorams from Japan


i got a shit load of simpsons figures and the imported dbz figures
 
- Almost got in a fight with some surfer kid because he "borrowed" my Mario Kart: Double Dash from my dorm.

- Yelled out "Star Trek rules!" during the midnight show of Star Wars: Episode III, this was more to be an asshole though. I thought I was gonna get beaten down with plastic lightsabers.

Yeah, it's total BS. The same thing happened to me and my bro around the same age when we went as ninjas. Had one woman slam the door on our faces and some soccer mom was following us in an SUV.
 
I don't really have any things I've done that I think are geeky. Aside from maybe talking about a game I've been playing with my friends every few months, I've got nothing.
 
1. My collection of a few hundred games.

2. Mid-night launch of Halo 2 at Gamerush - I reserved the Collector's Edition and wasn't about to give them the opportunity to sell it on "accident." Everyone at the store was pumped - telling stories about how they rule at multi-player, etc. I was embarassed just being there.

3. Purchased Gamecube on launch night - I didn't wait in line though, I went to a small gaming store that everyone else forgot about. I was in and out with my Gamecube by 12:20, when the line at the Wal-Mart about a mile away was about one hundred. If only they knew. . .

4. Trading in so many games at Gamerush (before they tightened down on trade values) that the employees knew me by name.

5. Going into a Gamestop store.

If I remember anything else I'll add to this post.

Uh, other than stuff that you all do, like having comics, figures, games, DVDs and the like...

Probably being a longtime performer is the nerdiest/geekiest thing I've ever done.

Ever since I was young, I've wanted to be a performer / actor / filmmaker / etc.

Even when I was in the hospital, I'd entertain the others during playtime. I'd do as much physical comedy as I could while hooked up to an IV, but mostly I'd do funny voices, impressions, and tell stories. The younger kids especially liked the stories I would make up.

Then, for about 5 years during and a bit after high school... I was in a comedy troupe. We were basically like The State... there'd be only a few females at a time, and only one that we'd really classify as a permanent member.

We also had a TV show on local television for a while. It was compromised of whatever the hell we filmed... sketches, improv performances, musical numbers (even had musical guests once in a while)... tributes to other great troupes like The Kids in the Hall and The State. We even short several short films and a 30-minute dramatic piece that was well-received. We had a pretty nice fanbase for a while, mostly other kids from our school.

Unfortunately, after all the copies of our work we made for others, our busy schedules and lives, and a bunch of other stuff... any of the material that I have or others have is completely trashed. It's just unwatchable due to terrible video and audio quality. I would have loved to have archived it on DVD somehow, but it's impossible. Also, even if these pieces were in decent shape, sharing it over the internet could cause trouble. Like The State, we used a lot of popular music in our sketches.

Anyway, that's probably the nerdiest/geekiest thing I've done. It did save my life in a way, though, and it was the most fun I'd ever had.
 
I participated VERY actively in the I Love Bees Viral Marketing Campaign. I was at the milwaukee axon every week, always trying to figure out the story. Even met two pretty cool (and decent looking) girls from the area who were into ARGs. I was one of the ones invited to chicago to preview the Halo 2 in a theater a week or two before launch. It was amazingly geeky, the people that were there. I brought my roomate. (lucky bastard got chosen to play on live against the other nationwide events)

It's a shame that ARG was put together so well, the actual Halo 2 story was awful in comparison. It's not widely known that Fourty Two(the creators of ILB) had an entire script and sound clips planned out, when halfway through, a response by one of the participants to a live actor on a phone in pennsylvania changed the whole way the story went and had to be re-written. It's amazing how much care they put into that campaign.

I also paid to compete in a soul calibur 2 and a halo 2 tournament once upon a time.

I wrote my consumer behavior final paper about Xbox Live. Got an A+ too.
 
One of my good friends is a computer programer. :)
I build my own pc's. I can't really think of anything super geeky. Cause I'm geeking it all the time. I get really excited at electronic stores.

1) When the Star Wars Episode I Action Figures were released
2) When the Star Wars Episode II Action Figures were released
3) When the Star Wars Episode III Action Figures were released

Having a Street Fighter themed Halloween party/bonfire back in the day. Nothing quite like being drunk wearing a green wig and painted blue. Nothing like party with the host dressed as blue Blanka.

When Final Fantasy VIII(8) came out I went to Walmart at 5 or 6 in the morning for it.
Well, I went back to the game department but it was not in the shelf. So I went up to the counter and was going to ask about it, but then saw a stack of them sitting behind the counter. I asked the lady "when is Final Fantasy 8 going to be available. She said she did not know. I said "What about those?" and pointed to the stack of FF 8s on the ground. She said "that is not FF8, that is FF VIII(and actually said the letters). I told her no that is FF 8, and she kept arguing me for about 5 minutes. I finally just told her "fine, I want Final Fantasy VIII(and said the letters).

I've argued with a Walmart guy about my Gameboy Advance as well. He told me I was stupid because I paid 25 dollars more for a Japanese GBA, even know I got it like 6 months earlier than the US one. I argued with him for a while as well.

I went to Walmart at like 4 in the morning for a Gamecube, yet there was no line at all and a stack of them left.

I used to play my Game Boy Color in High School during lunch(when everyone else is talking to others).

I painted my hand green for FFA(Future Farmers of America) in High School because we got enough points just from that to go on a field trip in high school. Thing is I only did it because it was the same day Pokemon Red and Blue came out(so I had to go pick it up at Walmart at 5:30 AM before school), and I could play it all day during the field trip(it was a tractor show, and that is not my thing).

I GREATLY look forward to Sneak King November 19, and am going to go eat at Burger King in the morning on a Sunday so I can get it right away.

I read the Ultimate line of Marvel comics(spider-man, x-men, fantastic 4).

Most things that I do nerdy are involved with Walmart people and video games.

This guy at work(he's like 65) actually calls me "the geek", and that's it. He has never called my by my name.

this reminds me...I made a statistics joke yesterday when my prof asked me how I thought it went. I said something about forgetting to adjust for underestimating bias in my estimation of the test. i felt like king dork for a minute.

Reading this thread, composed of 77 messages at the time of this writing.

Kidding aside, you people put me to shame in some aspects, and I am the geekiest person I know.

However, sadly, it depends on who I am around. I suppose if there were more nerds around here, I'd be doing all sorts of crazy things.

However, there's a few worth mentioning.

Was chosen to be on the Nintendo Street Team for Dallas a few years ago during the "Ultimate Summer Job" contest. Ended up in some Dallas newspaper with all the goddamn equipment strapped onto me, whereas the seven other memebers weren't photographed or even mentioned. For whatever reason, the reporter had this big fascination with the fact that I happened to have the stupid GC on me at the time, so the story was about me.

In sixth grade, I did FPS - Future Problem Solving - which was an academic competition. My team won state and went to Internationals, which was a huge honor and a lot of fun. I wrote most of our argument, writing 10 pages of teeny tiny handwriting in less than 2 hours to get us there. In eighth grade, I competed individually, and took second in state.

Currently in a small game company composed of me and some friends from high school as the Technical Art Director (see sig).

I write - and have performed - poetry, including slam.

I was in an acting troupe for a few years, where I did acting, singing, and dancing. Kinda like SJ's but not so much improv. There were cute girls in there.

I wear nerdy shirts - Threadless, game themed, a "Sith Happens" shirt - yet I get compliments every damn time I wear them, without fail.

My game collection and the way it is organized is nerdy. My gf understands (and she damn better).

I want to publish something soon, be it a poetry collection, short story collection, etc. Being a columnist would be nice too. I think I am going to embark on a mission to become a video game analyst/columnist for a newspaper, under the idea that they can't ignore that big of an industry.

I play Munchkin, and have successfully gotten numerous people to play it, including girls.

I laugh at and make nerdy jokes. We're talking references in the middle of anything. But this really only works with certain people.

Dressed as Mario at least 3 times for Halloween, and a Ninja Turtle just as much.

Did academic decathalon.

Go to renaissance fair (which kicks ASS).

I bought a copy of Halo 2 LE from defender, despite not having an Xbox, because "I wanted to feel like part of something massive." Though I did play it on my gf's machine. Even she played it. Kinda funny.

I guess the only thing I can think of is flipping some games at GameRush to build up credit to buy a XBOX 360.

Also, the Halo 2 midnight launch at GameRush was lame....although, I went to the bar before and watched Monday Night Football...and I was not alone.

I dated a girl I met on the Internet once too....not really nerdy since she was hot and I ended up having sex with her the first time we met.

1. I went to Star Trek Conventions. Plural.

2. In high school, on costume day, I dressed up as an Andorian ambassador. But nobody knew what the hell I was supposed to be (even though I had spiffy little antennae). They called me the Smurf from Starfleet.

(I should point out, though, that one of my friends criticised my uniform because it was a mirror image of the uniforms in STIV and that I didn't have official Starfleet insignia...)

3. I memorized the Periodic Table. (though it was for a test, not for fun)

4. In high school, when I was bored in class, I'd make new alphabets. I still use them.

5. When I watch Eureka, I complain when the science isn't accurate.

6. I'm currently spending hours photoshopping a jpeg merging the cast from an anime and a videogame. Because it seemed like a fun idea.

6. Went to a Math and Science HS
7. Often skipped class to play multiplayer Starcraft

I have been to the star trek museum...more than once...even convinced my friend to let me throw this bachelor party there. My wife told a DJ about it once on a morning radio show and all of Kansas City got to hear the DJs laughing at what a nerd I am.

If I'm ever in Las Vegas again, I will go again. Best drinks in Vegas.

Before the concert I was going to the gift shop to buy a shirt for my nephew and this geek and his mom were infront of me and and I heard them talk. Apparently the son wanted his mom to buy 4 copies of this concert book at 20 bucks a pop and 8 tshits at 20 a pop. So the mom gadly spent 240$ bucks on junk (the concert book wasn't worth the 20 I spent :( ) and the tshit was ok, I wanted something for my little nephew. Still to spend that much , either the kid is damned spoiled, the parents are rich or the kid really deserves it.

Totally agree... The books were way the hell overpriced and the Tshirt was mediocre at best.

What the hell was the kid going to do with that many Tshirts/books?

I switched between 1st, 2nd, 3rd regularly with some online buds for 3-6 months on the Project: Snowblind ladder on PS2. I guess that makes me kind of nerdy or whatever.
