whats the stupidest game-related thing u have done?

I left all of my video games at my brothers house for the week. Middle of the week he claimed the house got flooded and all of my stuff was destroyed. When he couldn't provide me with any of my damaged games/systems, I knew he pawned them.

NES, SNES, Genesis, Gamegear, Gameboy, all with a buttload of games, including FF3 that I had just bought a month or two prior and never got to finish.

He's getting his, though. He's gonna e going to prison shortly on a number of fraud-related charges. Good riddance.

I actually passed up a copy of Jedi Academy for Xbox, in order to get Urban Chaos, which I don't even play, but I just recently nabbed a complete copy of Silent Scope Complete(Xbox) for free with the BOGO @ Blockbuster.

Oh and my stupidest gaming thing I've done? How about trading the official Silent Hill guide from Prima(which goes for decent money on Ebay now) to EB back when they took used guides for $1-2?

I also sold off a perfectly working Genesis, with 30-60 games including some which are rarities now, for $50-60 in credit @ EB. I did the same with my PS1 collection, which only had maybe one sought after game(Cool Spot Goes To Hollywood)in the entire collection.

The worst and most stinging screw up on my part though, was selling the guide for SH by far, since it's near impossible to find anymore.
 
The closest thing that I can think of is why the virtual boy was being phased out of retailers and I saw clearenced units at the closest Target store. I had the money at the time (my parents were big into giving me the allowance and me saving up to buy my own games and what not), however my mom decided that I didn't need another videogame system and that I should save my money for something else.

To this day I wish that I had just say I'm getting it because I've always wanted one (even after the small headache of playing it in store (amazed that I never had lice now that I think about it)).
 
Back when I was into DBZ, I traded a genesis, like 10 games and 5 DC games for about 10 packs of cards. Damn I used to be stupid

Oh, and I regret paying full prices for games b4 I found this site. I remember paying $60 + tax for Sonic 3 (Genesis). It was worth it tho.

In defense, I have to say the Urban Chaos is a pretty good game. I picked up playing it again two weeks ago and have been off and on with it. I actually played for about an hour last night after I got home from work.
 
sold my Sega CD system for $18 just because it was taking up space... it was worth keeping just for ESPN Monday Night Hockey. I still get upset when I think about it and that was like 12 years ago.

If it was back when the game was new, there's no shame in that.

And it wasn't my screwup, but I wanted to get Daytona USA Deluxe for the PC before I got a PC. I figured I'd never be able to find it when I did get a PC, so I would be ready for when I did get one. Well, my parents wouldn't let me get it. I then got a PC in late 2000, and you know what? You can't find it anymore! Add in the fact that my mom will not order anything over the internet and my dad doesn't do any ordering at all, that means I'll never get to play it! fuck!

It's funny that you mention that as years ago I got upset when I lost to Dark Force at the end of Phantasy Star 2 and reset my Genesis abunch of times in a fit of rage deleting my save file. Never did play though Phantasy Star 2 again.

I never really got rid of any of my old games but when the Saturn came out I just had to have one so I traded in abunch of SNES games including some personal favorites to help pay for it. Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG, Super Punch Out to name a few. I ended up buying must of them back within the next few years on clearance though. I can't remember for sure but I think I also traded in E.V.O. and a Star Fox Competition cart. I really can't blame myself for trading in the Star Fox Competition cart over what it goes for on eBay since this was back in 1994 but I still should have never done this for nostalgia alone without even considering what it goes for on the bay.

The Star Fox Competition cart deal is easily my worst mistake but some other general things that others could probably relate to.

Letting people barrow games. Lost so many games I bought new cause of this. Secret of Mana, all of the Phantasy Star games (except for IV which I got back years later from a friend who had to get it back from somebody he gave it to!) Final Fantasy II & III, Breath of Fire, Chrono Trigger, Lunar & Vay on the Sega CD. These being most of the notables but alot of other games I really liked I had to replace also from the original Alex Kidd on the SMS to Knights of the Round.

Not taking better care of my games when I was younger. Anything pre NES got thrown away by my dad without me even noticing about the time the NES came out and I stopped playing them consently like I did before the NES. Had an Intellivission, Colecovision and a C64 with a bunch of 5 1/4s (probably about 50-100). I don't think I have a single manual or box for any of my old NES games I still have that I bought new back in the day. My 16 bit games are pretty spotty with what's complete to cart only (of what I bought new) with all or most of the games I bought later on clearanced being complete.

I wish I also bought a new copy of Mega Man X for $5 at Wal Mart about 10 years ago when Wal Mart had abunch of 16-bit stuff clearanced but I didn't since I already had it (cart and manual though) I always though that RPGs would be more treasured in a sense even years ago especially since they were so expensive during the 16-bit era but I'm sure I could have picked up plenty of good stuff cheap if I could have been thinking like an eBayer 10-20 years ago and hunting for certain good games on sale during the 8 to 32 bit eras. I still remember seeing Shinning Force III for $20 around my area after buying it right away for $40 since I knew they didn't make that many.

Hmmmm........let em see

1) Lost the boxes and manuals to Sega CD Lunar Silver Star & Vay in a move

2) Lent a complete Guardian Heroes to a former boss who never returned it

3) Lent Lunar Silver Star Story and Symphony of the Night (Black Label) to someone who turned into a druggy and never returned it.

And turning down hard to find and rare games before I came to CAG.

Same here with the Virtual Boy. It's the one Nintendo system I don't own (well, there's like one or two renditions of the game boy I have yet to pick up), and I remember seeing it for like $40 at KB toys for the longest time and I wanted to get it. Then, it dropped to $20, and for whatever reason, I still decided not to buy it. I think I listened to too much of that "it will fuck up your eye sight" crap that had been going around. Shit, I wouldn't have played it THAT much. I still wish I would have picked up one then to play and one to collect.
 
I'd say the stupidest thing I've done was rip open my thumb playing Wii Sports baseball. As far as getting rid of shit, maybe unloading my Saturn collection? But most of that I got for free, and I got paid top dollar for it, so that probably wasn't such a stupid idea.
