Ever since last year I have seen kids under 12 using those shoes that have built in wheels and lately in the stores I have been seeing a lot of kids with these things and even today I almost had one of those little buggers crash into me. Is this some new fad for kids these days? Go Go Gadget Shoes?

I've seen people in their 20's at the mall with those shoes as well. If I had the ability to skate I would wear them. However having a low center of gravity doesn't work to well with skating.

Everytime I see someone wearing a pair of those shoes, I just want to push them down a flight of stairs. They annoy the fuck outta me.

THANK YOU!

I've never seen a kid wearing these but I imagine if I did I'd clothesline the little motherfucker Combatribes style.

+10 points if you get the reference.

i hate those people that just glide down the aisles in stores not givin a flip if they hit u or not. Theyre teens and hteir punks, why should they care if they have no job or money, they clearly are better than u right?...

I hate them!

I saw a lot of kids at Disney World skating around the park in them and with how crowded it was, it seemed very unsafe (not to mention the shoes seem unsafe in the first place unless you wear protective gear).

What really scares me about them is what happens when some kid loses their balance and falls over while skaiting in a store or park and then you know the store or amusement park will be sued even though it was their own fault for skating in the store or park.

It also makes me really annoyed that most parents think it's ok to have their kids skate in the stores and malls while wearing these shoes. Everytime I go to the mall or a store like Target I have to dodge the kids skating around the store.

Thankfully some stores are starting to not allow them.

Not to mention the stores aren't designed for skating and it can scuff the floor.

I don't have a car and I want a pair of these. I dreamed of this stuff when I was a kid.

I still want my hoverboard.

I love Combatribes! Technos is ace.

Read the Heely Collision Stories! Hilarious.
1) I was at the airport and some kid on heelys is trying to cut under all the barriers for the line... You know what I'm talking about? Yeah well she went under like 3 and got up too early for the last one and completley closelined herself.
 The thing I'm noticing is that most of the kids that crash get up and continue on like nothing happened.
I used to have some of those
As did I.

They were fun. Kids like fun things. Get over yourselves.

I feel the exact same way. Little bastards do it for attention...

lol i saw this posts topic and i thought you were makin fun of those kids who have to wear corrective shoes like the kid in forrest gump.

I see those a lot around here. Fortunately haven't had a collision with anyone yet and I don't have any crash stories. I'm pretty sure it's just going to be a matter of time until you hear about some large chain store banning them (or at least banning people from using them in the store).

I still see kids wearing those shoes that light up in the back. I thought those had become a 90's relic.

All it's going to take is one of these fuck heads to loose control and get hit by a car and die while using them crossing the street. Parents will be outraged and file a lawsuit claiming "too dangerous for kids".

A low center of gravity makes skating easier, so it must be something else causing you problems.

Those shoes are big with figure skaters (my sister skates) they all wear them to the skate competitions. The whole thing ends up looking like a big ass wheelie shoe convention.

I was at Party City with my wife this weekend getting Valentine's shit for my daughter's daycare class and saw a sign on the door outlawing them. In less than 5 minutes I saw 2 kids skating all over the fucking store in them. The parents are worse than the kids when it comes to this shit.

Anyway, they don't bother me, but I've haven't been run into yet. ITDEFX is right though, as soon as some kid gets hurt or killed wearing these things, they are going to be all over the news as unsafe.

Yep, from the article:

"“She's been told there and at Wal-Mart — they make an announcement in the store about them — not to use them,” Pollard said. “I tell her as long as she doesn't run into anybody, it's OK.”"

So the parent knows the store says not to use them and the mother doesn't care and tells her to skate anyway? I'd bet she'd be the first to sue Walmart if the kid ran into something or fell and got hurt.

yep, the current generation of parents and there kids feel that "they aren't responsible for there own actions" I would stand up and cheer if Walmart or some other company decided to file there own lawsuit against the makers of these things saying they are a hazard to the store and other customers.
As did I.

Wait till one of them runs into you and knocks you over and you get seriously hurt. You'll be singing a different tune.

Parents these days don't give a shit about their "kids". If they do something stupid and get hurt, they go after the party that didn't cause it at all. The more I breath the more I wish stupidity were fucking painful...
So, they're like SUVs for people without drivers licenses...
and I was tempted to run one of these little fuckers with my CRV on Sunday when they slid across the street while there parents were on the cell phone. Could have killed two birds with one stone that day :)

I see them.....everywhere. All the time. I used to hate them until someone here told me to get over myself. Now I despise them.

I didn't know that people hated the things so much. I bought my nephew a pair for Christmas. He was so happy, thus I was happy. I haven't seen him use the things in stores or such (he should know better than that) but he knows that I'd yank the damn wheels out if I ever saw him doing anything unsafe with them.

Your mistake was assuming other parents/uncles gave a damn what kids did with them.

So does this mean that as long as you don't run into anybody, drinking and driving is also OK?

I liked when the administration at the summer camp I work at banned them this past summer. This was for good reason, too, since those wonderful devices + steep, paved paths = a few hours at the nurse. If we happened to catch anyone using them (ie: if they're wheeling around, not if they're just walking, of course) most of us had our own little toolset on-hand. We'd take the student down to the office, pop out the wheels, and have their parent either pick it up after camp at the end of the week or mail the wheels home at the end of the summer.

That cut down on the stuff pretty quickly. Even still, it is great to work in retail where a parent walks off to shop, the child is left unattended and they take out an entire display because they thought that wheeling around was a good idea. Cleaning up is a pain but the look of shock, a satisfying "THUD!!", and the parent going "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" mostly make up for it.

Oh God...I HATE people who are on their fucking cellphone all the time. Today some idiot in front of me was going 20 below the speed limit. I finally get a chance to pass them and surprise surprise...on their damn phone. And then once I was going through the parking lot at my college trying to find a spot to park and there was another idiot on their phone, walking in the MIDDLE of street. Being the asshole I am to people who do that I get up close to the person, and when I'm right behind them I honk the horn.

I swear, people and their cellphones piss me off more than anything.

One of my college professors had a clever way of dealing with that. When someone would be talking on their phone in a public place like a store and talking about a private issue (one example he used was someone talking about an abortion they had), he would join in the conversation and comment on what the person just said on the phone. They would usually get pissed off at him but his argument was that if you are in a public place, it's everyone's business.

I'm not too bothered by these things, but I was annoyed while shopping at Circuit City with two kids rolling down the narrow aisles with them, making it impossible to leave the aisle without them leaving first and nearly skating into clerks.

LOL

he could have just sat next to them and start "oh I see, so your friend is getting an abortion huh? Do the parents know? What religion is she? Where the fuck is the father?"

You people are a bunch of Sega haters

If kids don't have these shoes, how the hell are we going to pull off random Streets of Rage re-enactments?!

I'm sorry guys- you're right. We should ban bikes and rollerblades too, ya know, just to play it on the safe side. And wheelchairs- are you kidding me? Accidents waiting to happen.

Oh, and you're completely right about cellphones. I mean, why buy one if you're only going to use it to call someone? Completely irresponsible and definitely not what they're intended for.

I don't think anyone wants them banned completely, we just want them banned in places where people shouldn't be using them such as in a store, mall or amusement park.

True, around the house, empty parking lots and so on ok.. But around the isles at Walmart where they nearly crash into you, NO! You know if one of those buggers ever crash into me, I am not going to help them up and just keep on walking. But the fucker will probably start crying and say "MOMMY THAT MAN HIT ME!!!!" and then I will fucken go to jail because some fucker crashed into me.
I meant the roller sneakers not phones

I have no problems with people using a cell phone anywhere except in places like a movie theater, library, during class etc.
Then I retract my statement.
