What's your favorite non-Japanese cartoon on TV? Mk. 2

There's way too much potential variation with the answer.

Cancelled and no longer on cable: Invader Zim
Cancelled but on cable last time I checked (if TBS is cable, which I think it is): Mission Hill
Cancelled and I think no longer on TV period: Daria, The Maxx
Cancelled but still on TV sometimes: Home Movies
Still running, but I think this is their last season: King of the Hill
Still running, but the new stuff sucks, and even the syndication sucks: Simpsons
Still running and has new episodes, but has jumped the shark: Spongebob Squarepants
"Adult" Target audience: South Park
"Kid" Target audience: Ed, Edd, and Eddy

Futurama might be on there somewhere, but only if the new episodes don't pull a Family Guy and because shameless ripoffs of themselves.

there arent too many decent american toons left that arent all reruns. avatar is a good one as is king of the hill and the venture brothers and ben 10. the cancelled ones i used to like were danny phantom, rocket power , life with ginger, daria , megas xlr, and the teenage mutant ninja turtles new cartoon ( i hate what they did to it recently but the ones where shredder was an utron and what not were pretty sweet).

its one of my pet peeves with nickleodeon they start up a cool seriess and cancel it after a few seasons. i also liked darkwing duck and duck tales , tale spin , rescue rangers, weekenders, recess.

Not nitpicking, but it's called "As Told by Ginger," and yes, it is a very underrated 'toon. Really great, actually. Carl's antics on that show are epic for a kid his age.

Without question, these shows....

I think those all air on some premium channel like Boomerang now.

Other than those, Avatar is the only thing that rivals anime in production and storytelling and is easy to find on TV.

How lame am I, I watch all sorts of stuff on Cartoon Network. My two favorites there: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends & The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Both of those are aimed at kids but have gems in there for adults, too. :)

Non-kiddie: Family Guy, Futurama
When I can find it: Mission Hill and Oblongs

Strell, King of the Hill got renewed for a 12th season way back in Janurary.

It's the second longest running animated show, they aren't going to can it until they've bled all the life they can out of it. To it's credit, it's still hilarious, and probably the best animated show Fox shows on Sunday's even if they do try to bury it with that shitty timeslot.

Also, Ed, Edd, and Eddy is cancelled.

shit thanks for the correction i thought that was wrong but eh and yeah it is a good show. definelty one of those under the radar toons thats way more adult than it seems. and id also like to add my vote to the diff batman series of cartoons ( especially batman beyond) and the justice league later seasons when they added all the new people. that episode with the super chicks battling was so damn sweet and it was cool to see batman and wonder woman hitting it off and the black green lantern pulling mad hott freeaks.
Futurama, Home Movies, Mission Hill, The Boondocks, Venture Brothers, South Park, and many others.
1. Rocko's Modern motherfucking Life. Why are you not on DVD?

2+. Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead, KotH, Futurama, Oblongs, Foster's Home.

Teen Titans as well, but I'm thinking that's Japanese. But if it isn't throw that in there.

Batman The Animated Series is one of the best. Some notable other ones would include Rocko's Modern Life, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and one of my all time favorites humor-wise, Courage The Cowardly Dog. Another pair that were cancelled are Dilbert The Animated Series and The Critic.

Doug

Venture Bros.

Batman Animated Series

Batman Beyond

Men In Black The Series (definitely underrated)

Hey Arnold

Invader Zim

Also The Tick was really good.

QFMFT! I'd buy a Rocko dvd set in a heartbeat.

As for current cartoons, I'd go with The Simpsons, South Park, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (a friend got me watching this one, and it's hilarious) and the occasional Spongebob.

If I listed past series, the list would go on for a while...

Yep, and that's kind of why I wish they would cancel it. Just so it doesn't go 20 years like the Simpsons and become stale. It's still funny, but it's starting to show it's age. This was around the same time the Simpsons started going downhill, the 12-14th season.

Current - Probably only Family Guy

Past:
Tiny Toons
Darkwing Duck
TMNT
G.I. Joe
Tale Spin
Duck Tales
Cowboys of Moo Mesa
Animaniacs
Rocko's Modern Life (very underrated)
Rescue Rangers

Entire Dini-Timm DCAU
Freakazoid
Jackie Chan Adventures (Before it fell into a rut)

King of the Hill
Megas XLR
Men in Black: The Series
Mission Hill
Reboot
Rocko's Modern Life
Samurai Jack
Sonic the Hedgehog
Spider-man
TMNT
Venture Bros.
X-Men
No mention of Gargoyles yet? That show was cartoon gold...
ill second that too just forgot about it. damn fine show you can still catch on disney from time to time. still dont get how the whole gargoyle human sex thing would work out but thats for them 2 to figure out. macbeth was the shit though he deserved his own cartoon and videogame. actually they need to make a 3d videogame of that whole show.

*Edit* Just saw the above post...

Oh, and let's not forget Gargoyles...

Agreed with every damn show you've listed; also, as some others have said: Venture Bros, Invader Zim, Home Movies, Spongebob (getting a bit old though), Simpsons, South Park, Drawn Together.

Oh, and Rocko's Modern Life was an awesome show.

Unfortunately, it's Mike Judge's biggest source of income, and he probably uses the money from King of the Hill to fund his movies and his animation festival, so he probably doesn't want to can it.

But I've got faith in him that he will hang it up when he feels he's done all he can do.

Sadly, they removed all of those from their lineup. But for some reason, they have no problem reairing the entire Swat Kats series from start to finish every two weeks.

At least Boomerang finally moved up and started airing Justice League Unlimited in Justice League's timespot, since it has more episodes compared to JL.

Futurama (in a class by itself)

South Park
Simpsons, up until around S14 or so
Sealab 2021
Harvey Birdman
Fairly Oddparents
Beavis & Butthead

I haven't seen Danger Mouse mentioned yet. I used to love that show, but I haven't seen it in 15-20 years, so maybe it's not as good as I remember it.

Props to many of the shows already mentioned.

Oh, and OP, I did actually catch the Storm Hawks a couple of times and I am rather impressed by the animation. I'm looking forward to see if the story is going to go anywhere.

Another current 'toon on that I haven't seen mentioned is Nick's Jimmy Neutron. For a series, the animation is top quality CGI you don't find in other CGI-intesive cartoons.

Also, while it isn't a cartoon TV series, I just wanted to show everyone the first production screens of the upcoming animated adaption of the Dragonlance movie (Dragons of Autumn Twilight) that were released a few days ago. Enjoy!

Takhisis vs. Paladine
Draconians
Pyros

I'm hoping that they'll do the books some justice in this movie.

First, the ones that are still running:
South Park
Family Guy
Harvey Birdman
Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Venture Brothers
Spongebob

Cancelled/ded:
Futurama (for now...)
Simpsons (it's dead in my mind, just a shadow of its former self)
Batman Beyond
Justice League, Unlimited
Superman
Batman
Gargoyles
Beavis and Butthead
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Freakazoid
old Looney Tunes

I wish they would re-show the old TMNT. I miss that show. Storm Hawks does have the teen hero thing going, so it sort of scratches that itch, but there's nothing like the old stuff.

Well if you don't know, now ya know. ;)

It's an anime world so you may as well get used to it, especially with Warner Bros. Studios shutting down and Disney going CG with almost all their movies. You are going to see more and more imports or half-assed "12 oz. Mouse" crap.
You are going to see more and more imports or half-assed "12 oz. Mouse" crap.
Phbhbt. I blame you for that more than I blame VG.

And I'll have you know that is a terrible situation you have put me in, Guile.

I'd slap you, but I know that in my hasty retreat, you'd sonic boom my ass.

I will say this though, the good [adult swim] stuff has been coming from places other than Williams Street. Venture Bros. is still the best original show they have IMO.

I miss the days of SGC2C, Harvey Birdman, and ATHF (pre-season 4).
