What's Your Favorite Video Game?

Hey everybody,

I recently caught a few ads on Spike TV for their upcoming Video Game Awards (it airs Dec. 14th but I'm not sure what time, check out their website if you want) and thought to start this thread to see who everyone thinks should win the award for game of the year. Maybe we could tally up the replies here and then compare them to which game actually wins that night? It might be cool too to send these results to Spike TV after we're done, especially if our favorites aren't on their list. So I'm going to dig around and try to find a way to contact them too.

Here's this year's choices from Spike's website (if you don't agree, just put down your favorite):

Burnout 3: Takedown (Electronic Arts)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar Games)
Half-Life 2 (Vivendi Universal Games)
Halo 2 (Microsoft Game Studios)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Konami)

Also, what's your all-time favorite? (I'm predicting Super Mario Brothers and CS will top the list here.)

I think Halo 2 will win GOTY, although it really doesn't deserve it.

Favorite Game of all time: Final Fantasy X.
 
Out of those listed I'd say B3. All time....I haven't played the new one yet (future christmas gift) but my favorites are probably Pirates for C64 and Pirates Gold for PC.
 
All-Time Fav? Those Spike choices are weak! Year's favorite: Halo 2, but there's no way that any of those are my all-time favorite.

This is like when I see a "greatest songs of all-time" special on VH1 and they have Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit in there. It's like people forget about really legendary songs/games as soon as the newest "hit" pops into their lives.

I think Spike TV's choices are just for this year.....not all-time.
 
All Time:Super Mario Bros. 3

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be it but I still play SMB 3 to this day.

This year, Half Life 2.
 
Halo 2 is my favorite game of all time, this year and ever, mainly because of the multiplayer. Of course, I haven't played any recent computer games, as all I have is a crappy 400mhz processor, so I can't measure it against Sims 2, Far Cry, Doom 3, Call of Duty, or Half Life 2, any one of which could potentially snatch Halo 2's crown.
 
All time favorite: Metal Gear Solid 1 (or twin snakes considering they're pretty much the same thing)

This year: (Big surprise) MGS 3
 
All Time: Mega Man 2

Next Year: Mega Man 2

When I'm dead a buried what game will I be holding: Mega Man 2

A game that will NOT be anyone's favorite because Halo 3 came out: Halo 2

Out of their nominee's for this year I've only played Halo 2 and thought it was pretty average. I had a lot of fun with Fable, but for this year my favorite was Katamari Damacy.

For all time it's gotta be either Secret of Mana or FF7. I guess I'll go with FF7 since it was more influential.
 
Er... hmm... I wonder... all time favorite? That is really tough... my FFXI addiction is bad... but... is it absolute over all the games I have ever played? Hmm... that is just too hard... how about a list then:

My favorite game of all time would have to be Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Given the phenomenon known as Halo 2uesday I'll be surprised if it doesn't take the Spike TV award. Not that this award means a damn thing lol (good for industry i guess)

As for my all time fav - I'll have to say KOTOR. It owned my soul for about 80 hours over a straight two week period last year - on top of job and family responsibilities!

All time: Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn & Throne of Bhall
This year: Its a toss up between Half Life 2 and Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth.
