When is the Segaton announcement?

another failed live feed from gamespot, considering all the hype they gave themselves about their E3 coverage they sure are screwing up alot.

sorry, no jokes for a while, the parents went out (no im not 30 living with my parents... im 16) lol so now it is porn time! sry, maybe later

Yeah, im giving up on this too. I'll check back later tonight to see if anything happened. Unlike some i have to get back to work...not back to watching porn.

BWAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I can't take it any longer! What the hell is the hold up? Why can't someone from E3 just post some update, even if it is to say Sega said nothing?

i think their new system is going to be the
Graphical
Analytic
Mezmorizing
Energetic
Grand
Electric
Amazing
Robotic
Talented
Wonderful
Operating system

ugh, still nothing? maybe it was just an elaborate scheme to attract attention towards the company while killing everyone with anticipation..... im starting to think this is going to turn out to be just another game.

sega: "our big secret anouncement is that we will b releasing yet another game....tune in next month to find out more"

I think if they did that it would have a negative effect. Yeah, it got people talking about Sega, but gamers everywhere are going to be royally pissed for having spent their time on a hoax.

That's not a big deal. They've been making games for the GBA since the beginning. Handheld support for the next generation was a logical step. Not explosive.

How reliable was the source that originally reported that sega was going to have a megaton announcement? Was it ever confirmed by sega that they were going to announce something big at E3?

It was on Gamespot and on a bunch of other sites. Don't know if IGN or Gamespy ever picked it up, though. And, I don't think there was an official press release from Sega on the matter. I kinda thought this was their press release, though.

Here's another tidbit on the subject from http://www.gizmodo.com. This came out about a week and a half ago.

More Sega Hardware Rumors

Last night I met an informant in a darkened socket; we shook hands. A packet was pushed into my buffer. I SYN'd. He ACK'd and was gone, fast as the scattering of cats near a can of compressed air. Inside was a rumor; a rumor about a woman's loose tongue and Sega's possible E3 hardware announcement:

It may be pure coincidence but I thought I'd let you know something I heard the other night. I was at dinner with a woman who has worked as a headhunter in the video game industry for 7 years; "Since before there were women in the industry", she says. It was the first time I'd been around a woman with more video game history/knowledge than myself and it was deeply emasculating. More than a little out of my element not being the alpha male in an electronics discussion, I stooped to the tried and true favorite of drowning her in booze to pump up my self esteem. She mentioned after several glasses of wine that she was going to E3. Naturally, acting like the well educated, adult male that I am, I begged and pleaded with her to let me tag along as her assistant making promises to rub her feet at night and let her call me ‘Scoop’. She told me in no uncertain terms that there was no way she would take me.

I had been a little overserved myself so instead of throwing wine in her face like I do with most women who turn down my extravagant requests I entered into an argument about the coming Playstation 3 and Xbox 2 announcements. At this point she mentioned to me how new console announcements are passé since there were four big console makers and they were always announcing something new. Sensing a small victory I pounced, “there are only 3 console makers!” Like a mother scolding her son she replied, “no, there’s Sony, Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft.” “Sega?”, I questioned, “but they’re out of the console business?” She stopped what she was saying and looked at me, then mumbled something about how I should forget what she said. Relishing my perceived victory over her supposed video game industry knowledge I let the Sega remark slip thinking it was brought on by the liquor. After seeing your post about a possible Sega announcement I figured I’d drop you a line. I agree with your opinion that a Sega announcement is unlikely, but seeing your post and hearing this woman’s drunken remarks is a little interesting.

I'm beginning to think was no segaton announcement to begin with. I just checked the e3 website and there's absolutely no news of a sega announcement or even a sega press conference. Their latest news update is about Scottish gaming. I guess we have no one to blame but ourselves for believing all the rumors and hype.

FROM GAMESPOT:
Sega announces new Phantasy Star title

Action RPG Phantasy Star Universe will breathe new life into the hallowed series.
Today at its E3 booth, Sega revealed it is working on a new Phantasy Star game, an action RPG entitled Phantasy Star Universe.

The publisher made no mention of Phantasy Star Universe at its "surprise" press announcement this morning, where the only thing shown was a multiplayer demo of the Matrix Online. It didn't divulge much more information about the early-in-development game at its booth, either, other than show a trailer for Universe. No info on platforms or release date were made available.

The Phantasy Star Universe trailer contained only prerendered CG footage starring characters and environments that looked stylistically similar to those seen in the recent Phantasy Star Online games. We observed one character fighting monsters with electro-blades, another animal-like warrior speeding through a desert environment, and a purple-haired girl with some resemblance to Phantasy Star II's Nei as we watched the trailer.

The Phantasy Star series began eons ago on the Sega Master System. After four popular single-player RPGs, the series took a multi-year hiatus and then reemerged on the Dreamcast in the form of Phantasy Star Online. Despite the series' recent focus on online play, Sega representatives are mum about whether Universe will center on off- or online play. Since the combat in the game is real-time instead of turn-based, it could go either way.

We'll bring you more details on Phantasy Star Universe as soon as they become available. In the meantime, keep an eye on GameSpot for the game's first trailer later today.
i just talked to my friend who was at E3 he said the announcement was the Matrix Online =(
I'll refrain from saying, "I told you so" for just a little longer...

If it's not a MMORPG, I'm going to have to give Sega 100 Lame-O Points.

"The publisher made no mention of Phantasy Star Universe at its "surprise" press announcement this morning,"............

Why would they make all this hype and then not even say anything??

That's a good point. I'm beginning to think this whole debacle might have been an internet joke gone awry.

maybe they are going from what would be this "low" IE no real big announcement, just some games, then they will make some huge surprise tomorrow. nah, its just an internet rumor gone out of control.

Skies of Arcadia 2 was officially announced a long while ago.

I'm not starting a rumor.

When I get home, I'll find the press release, and the dev, interview, and link it.

Can't go to most sites, here at work.

oh yay matrix online, i am thrilled. not. i could honestly care less as the last two matrix films were subpar and in my opinion (yes mine, no flames please) a first movie alone was good enough to me.

Chris you should know by now that cheering for Sega is like cheering for the Arizona Cardinals or Montreal expos in sports or like cheering for Kenny not to die in the first season of South Park its futile

really, unless you like staring at a 3 inch screen and trying to play something that your hands are twice as big as this was a pretty crappy E3.

How so? Multiplayer Halo displayed. Adult Zelda revealed. PS2 miniscule price drop. Happiness for everyone. Sure, not a AAA E3, but still well worth having, and I have enjoyed the news greatly!

yeah, i jumped the gun a bit, but the ps2 price drop was obvious, halo multiplayer was obvious, though good to see. and it is still just the first day.
