Skies of Arcadia 2 was officially announced a long while ago.

I'm not starting a rumor.

When I get home, I'll find the press release, and the dev, interview, and link it.

Can't go to most sites, here at work.
here is one, not much info, just a confirmation

This was released before Sammy became the majority stockholder of Sega and said they would focus more on arcade games, so its very possible that Skies 2 got canned. After all, its not like the game lit up the sales charts. :(

hmm, yeah, i didnt think about that. it would seem strange that they would release it on gc too, if theyd just put it on ps2 and xbox i think it would sell much, much better.

The soul still burns in you, eh? C'mon...it's over...a new Phantasy Star and Matrix Online is all Sega had. It'd be a miracle just short of BigNick getting laid that anything truly outstanding is left to be announced by Sega before E3 is over.

I've loved Sega ever since I can remember. Even have a website devoted to it - www.dreamcastersrealm.com. But, yeah, I'm finally coming to grips with reality right now. Even if it is over a 12 pack.

I don't know why Sega continues to abuse its fans like this. They've done it time after time after time. To be perfectly honest, I don't even really like all the games Sega is bringing out right now. There are a few cool games, but for the most part, they just don't seem to have that certain charm they used to have.

Maybe they need to go back and revitalize some of their older games. I dunno, they need to do something, because their E3 show sucked major donkey balls.

From what i gather that all the announcement was, pretty big let down :( Didnt even say which system the new PSO would be on either
grave, you and this post have the exact same number of posts, coincidence? i think not.
Heh heh, well that may or may not have been a coincidence, but I've been watching and posting in this thread as much as I can because I was hoping to catch some Sega news.
Well, we know how that went. Some people are saying that there's still time left at E3, but I dunno. I think Sega's 2000 showing was the best they'll ever have.

Sega's e3 lineup this year is pretty weak. The only thing that was slightly interesting is Sega Superstars. Its sad though that they have more games announced for cellphones than the GC and GBA combined.

Believe me, I understand your pain. I know I come off as anti-Sega, but I'm truly not. I'm just pissed. My Dreamcast, Saturn, and Genny still have a place hooked up to my TV. I truly want to be proven wrong in this thread, and I'll happily eat crow if Sega can really shock-and-awe us before E3 is over.

Yeah. Sega really has made some damn good consoles. Some of the best. But there's been too many dumb execs making too many dumb mistakes for Sega. Honestly, I believe they need to stay third-party.

Even if they announced they were going to start developing a new console. It would either be way late and after all the other companies released theirs, or it would be really rushed and wouldn't be very good.

I would like to see all Sega games under one console, just for convenience sake, though. If that happens, great, if it doesn't, that's okay, too. I just want Sega to continue making money and to start bringing some of their cool-ass older games to the table.

Agreed. I'd rather see sega make mediocre games now with the chance of making some great ones in the future, rather than see them get into the hardware business again, fail, and disappear forever.

That'd rock. It'd be a good value, and would do good in the market (I assume)....Plus it'd mean a lineup of kick ass re-releases of older games.

So what the hell is all this reading I just did? What do we got? Nada? Is that true? That cock and bull story about the IPodesque handheld was a fake? Just a shitty PSO online RPG? Boring.

Yeah, that would be really nice, but I don't know if it will ever happen. Most game companies don't listen to their fans, but if they did, they'd make tons of cash and some great games.

Yeah, we pretty much got shite. This was the weakest Sega showing at an E3 for a while. The Matrix Online is kinda boring, if you ask me. I'm all Matrixed-out.

The PSU is promising, but aside from that, I'm really bored with what they've shown.

Im in the middle of watching the PSUniverse trailer, and its apparently not just PSO2. in the background you see "Phantasy Star 5?" scroll by. Now THAT would be cool! problem is, apparently these games are so far off they cant say a damn thing about them. argh.

Those online role playing games are garbage. I don't have enough time to be sitting there for weeks on end leveling up a character just to kill some bear-dragon look-a-like a bit easier. Pffft. I'll leave that whole genre to the sexless masses of the Great Plains and other areas where people don't like human socialization.

Also, handhelds suck because, I don't take the bus or train to school or work and if I have any time at all to play a handheld I have time to play a console, so that's what I do. This whole "Holy shit this thing as 2 screens and a stylus! This is going to be an awesome time to be a gamer" hyper excited drool-fest that has most of the population in a tizzy does nothing to tickle my loins. And I aint hatin' on the Big N, Sony's PSP thing doesn't impress me either. Maybe I'm just upset because I have big hands and playin the GBA is awkward, but I'm not complaining , because I got a big dick too.

Sega offically announces Matrix Online deal

After weeks of wild rumors, the so-called "Sega-ton" announcement proves anticlimactic.
Two weeks ago, wild rumors of a resurgent Dreamcast raged after Sega sent out word that it would have an "explosive announcement" at this year's E3. However, that news detonated over the weekend, when Sega posted large banners announcing its deal to publish The Matrix Online all over the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Nevertheless, the press gathered at Sega's E3 today so see if the so-called "Sega-ton" had any more bang left in it. After a brief delay, the lights in the Sega booth dimmed and Sega of America president Hideaki Irie emerged to announce…a deal with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith to publish the Matrix Online.

Speaking to the audience, WBIE's senior vice president Jason Hall said he considered the massively multiplayer game "the fourth movie in the series" and hyped up the detail of its urban setting. Them Monolith CEO Samantha Ryan appeared to present a so-called "super brawl," in which a group of Monolith staffers duked it out inside the Matrix Online. Sega will be staging these demo fights throughout E3.

For more on the Matrix Online, check back later for our forthcoming preview

Actaully, that was Broady, not Banky... same actor, different movie.

I don't know if anyone has any experience with Sega Channel, but if they revived that in some way, it would be amazing. If you didn't have it for it's short existance or have never heard about it, the premise was this: You paid like 10 bucks a month, and you had unlimited access to 50 games that Sega picked out each month. That's where I first experienced games like Shining Force, TJ&E, Vectorman...all great games. If they did something like that, but for all their systems somehow...wow...

i still think the big announcement is going to be the:
Graphical
Analytic
Mezmorizing
Energetic
Grand
Electric
Amazing
Robotic
Talented
Wonderful
Operating system

there is going to be older games released in this way on LIVE, lets see how that works out. maybe sega will put some of its library up on LIVE...

That would be awesome! And, just like I posted earlier, Sega Channel was one of the greatest game innovations ever! Perhaps I will put my two month free subscription to Live to use...

From the Xbox.com website:

"Because Xbox is announcing XArcade (working title), a new service that will pack more fun into online gaming than ever before. XArcade will offer a wide variety of casual games to Xbox Live subscribers, letting them try out games before they buy and purchase their favorites with one click of the controller. It’s another way Xbox Live delivers more bang for the buck than any other online gaming service."

Interesting

WhipSmartBanky....can you send me your hat so i can eat it.
Thanks. Now where's RichD1?
I should of realized after buying the Genesis, Sega CD, 32x , game gear, saturn and dreamcast that sega was gunna let me down. For some reason I always go back....like a beaten red headed step child.

I dunno. The Matrix Online seems a bit weak to me. The story's over. Neo But I shouldn't say too much about it until I find out more, but so far, I'm uninterested. But this was far, far from an explosive announcement.

If Phantasy Star is just a single-player action game, it will be terrible. But if they plan on returning to the turn-based RPG side, it may be pretty good. But I'd love to see it as a real MMORPG.
Spoilers, Grave, SPOILERS! Even though *I* own all of the DVDs, not everyone has seen it yet!
Oops, good point. I deleted it from my post.

With a little more than a week to go before the big day, I thought it wouldn't be right without some Sega console rumors going around.

Wouldn't it just be wonderful if Sega surprised us all with a new console.
