i am interested in buying a Wii for christmas, and I just want to find one at a store

i am willing to camp out early at a store, like Best Buy or Circuit City, even Gamestop

but what stores get new shipments regulary, and when should i go out to a store to get one?

any input is appreciated

thanks!

EB/GS have been getting regular shipments for a while now (but they sell out fast.) I was there today and overheard the clerk say "we're expecting them next Friday" to a guy asking about them-- not sure that'll hold true for all EBs (I'm in IL.)

at the store I work at, it's really a toss up on when we get wii shipments in.

but as of late, people have been trading in wii's and buying other products because they're getting burned out on them.

Not sure where you are in SoCal, but my area usually has them in-stock most of the time.

You should check out the Moreno Valley Mall area (Day St off the I-60). There is a Target/Walmart/Sams Club/Costco/TRU/Bestbuy/CircuitCity all right in that area, one of them is bound to have one. There is also a Super Target, Super Walmart, and BestBuy a little farther down the 60 (Exit Nason St.) as well.

how i got mine was call local gamestops in the area at around 12-2, when shipments usually come in, just call monday thru friday

they come in multiples of 3 i believe because each box has 3 wiis inside

hopefully that gets you on the right track

Amazing how for 2 years this is THE sought after gift... missing out on the PS3 and getting the Wii on launch day was a blessing in disguise... I could have arrived at the target I bought mine from at opening and snagged the last of the 20 they had... but to be safe I got there about 90 mins early and was the 11th ticket handed out, Im glad target keeps thing organized in situation like this and blakc friday.

They had police, and a cart barricade set up to prevent line cutters... and handed out tickets on the one item I really wanted, the 37" tv... they mustve got alot of them if they allowed up to 2 per person... I was 9th in line for it, from that moment on I was calm (and cold)

nice story....

anyways, OP...you are going to have a VERY hard time finding a Wii this close to Xmas....you are basically going to have to drive around and call stores constantly and hope that someone close to you has it in stock while you are out and about..i started seeing them in stock a here and there before Turkey Day but since then I have seen ZERO

Just as an addendum to what the above poster said... yeah, looking now was a mistake. Before Thanksgiving, they were slightly easier to find.

Then, stores held them for Black Friday... and I imagine that, most of the time, they'll hold them for ads until Christmas. EB/GS will probably be your best bet, it's going to be much smarter to stumble into one now.

Though, since they did hold stock for this past Friday, the assumption should be that all stores will be getting new shipments this week, so check pretty hardcore this week.

The OP's question is no different than the umpteen calls I've overheard while walking around my local GS stores. About 5-10 people call every time I'm in one of their stores, usually to ask about the Wii, and the clerks have the canned response down to a fine art already.

"No, we don't have any Wii systems in stock. No, we don't know when we're getting anymore in."

I mean, honestly, I don't see the big deal about it still. Then again, I haven't even tried one out, since I'm stuck in last gen mode still.

Your best hope for a Wii is if they show up in the Sunday ads. Then you know when they'll be available and just have to line up an hour or two prior to opening. Last year snagged mine from Target around noon on a weekday when they received their shipment. I used a site called Itrackr.com that was somehow linked into Target's inventory system. I got an e-mail alert and showed up at the store before the clerk in electronics even knew the store had them. It also helped that I was off work at that time on a sort of paternity leave from work and that the store is about 2 miles away from my house.

I don't know if the site is still working. I haven't checked it in a long time.
