Where and how to sell an xbox 360?

I've come to the decision to sell my Xbox 360, but am not sure where or how to do so. I know I can simply walk it down to the local gamestop and probably get trade-in credit, but I'd prefer cash.

Any recommendations on how to sell this thing? How much would it even be worth?

Craigslist, take pictures that make it clear what you're selling. How much will you get? Not a lot. The system has been out long enough that most people who want one have one, and the next generation should be announced soon. I've seen them go bare system+cords+controller as low as $50 locally.

I sell xbox 360s on craigslist. I have sold maybe 40 or 50 of them on there with minimal fuss. Every once in a while you get someone who complains for some stupid reason, but then that is when you point out that fact that you listed and sold it "used" and "as-is".

I usually sell a core system (console + cords only) for $70. For $110 I include a wireless controller and a 20GB HDD. Most of the systems I sell are the $70 core ones...they practically sell themselves at the $70 price point. Sometimes I will take an offer of $60 for one if I am selling an older unit without HDMI. The lowest I have gotten for a system on craigslist is $60. I sold a Jasper elite w/cables, 120GB HDD, and controller on there for like $140 not too long ago. Thats almost as awesome as the $140 in credit I got for a launch console (from 2005, no HDMI) at Gamestop when they had the offers that stacked for $140 in credit. ;)

Just checked with the local Gamestop and found their listed value for my console to be $70 (+10% with a rewards card, of course). Including the games and other hardware (512MB memory card, 60GB hard drive) the total comes to $124 of in-store credit ($136 with rewards card). Not sure how much less I would get in cash.

What does a Craigslist sale usually entail? I've never used Ebay or Craigslist or any of those kinds of sites before.

Thanks for the input; I really appreciate the help you've given me so far.

If you take cash at Gamestop, you only get 80% of the usual value with NO promos applied to it. The 10% bump for their PowerUpRewards card still does apply, though I'm not 100% sure if it applies to used console trade-ins. I know it does to game and accessory trades.

Gamestop's website lists that there's a 30% bonus for trade-in consoles until the 13th if you opt for store credit, and the guy on the phone said that the powerup cards do apply to used consoles.

Taking the cash option, the math works out to just under $100. For a system that I literally haven't turned on in 8 months, that doesn't sound too bad.

Thanks for the info.

Like I said though, the 30% bonus would NOT apply if you took CASH for the system. The 10% PUR bonus bump may or may not apply. I know it does apply to games and accessories, but you don't even get the 10% off on used consoles when buying them from GS. So that's YMMV.

Either way, you stand to make 80-90% of the normal amount for each item depending on whether or not they allow the 10% on the console as well. But again, no promos will apply to it.

Gamestop is out of the running; To get the extra 10% trade-in credit I would need to buy the $15 membership to the powerup program (my membership has lapsed, since I almost never go there), and their selection of PC games is pretty junk - even online (and my PC will once again be my only gaming platform once I sell my Xbox), meaning that I need cash instead of store credit so that I can go to proper places like Amazon and Steam.

I've put it up on eBay.
