Pulled the trigger and got component cables for the GC, but now I need a system selector (tv has only one component input). Radio shack has a nice one for $70 but it would be nice to save a few bucks.

Anyone use a cheaper one with good results?

I also have the cheap pelican selector posted above. while it is a good deal for the price IMO, here's a couple of things you might want to consider.

-build quality feels very cheap, especially the buttons that switch the components.
-although it advertises 4 inputs(or in gamestop's case, 5), it's more like 3 and a half. you have 3 true inputs(with component, composite, s-video and ethernet inputs) and one input with only s-video and composite hidden on the front of the unit.
-I'm not sure if it has the fidelity to display an HD signal without at least some loss in quality.

I still love mine, although I only use it as an s-video/ethernet switch(no high-def stuff), just keep these things in mind.

wow thats a great price though, thanks for the link. I'll try it out with my HD cable input this weekend to see how the signal is and post back if anyone is interested.

thanks!

ok, got it, hooked it up and it's really pretty slick. It's cheap cause its not powered and uses the original signal strength through the switch box. It does feel cheap and plasticy but the picture is fine. I'm using the FREE component cables that came with it (which sell for $14.99 by themselves in store ?!?!) and have an HD signal running from my cable box through the switcher into the tv with no loss in quality. PS2 and Gamecube running 480p also look great through the switcher.

Very pleased with the purchase considering the same setup at radio shack for powered switcher and their cheapest component cables would have been $100.

The manual switches should be able to pass the full bandwidth without a problem. It's when you start looking into auto or powered switches that you need to think about buying a nicer unit (Audio Authority, Zektor, Video Storm, Inday, etc.).
