I have a bardcode printer and am trying to locate a Web site that has the bar codes listed for games. My wal mart has a bad habit of not reducing the tag prices on clearance items and I would like to be able to scan and check the price myself on a couple of games. Thanks for the help.

You have a barcode printer, and want a database of upc codes. Hmm. Pricecheck, or price replacement? I wonder how many WalMart employees would notice RE4 or God of War ringing up as a GH game.

Heh... My thought exactly.

By the way, if you think it's not stealing, you're wrong. You can still be prosecuted for it.

what if this person is genuinely wanting to scan bar codes to see what the price is on some of the games that he has been seeing clearanced out. last time i checked only walmart had the ability to change the prices of the merchandise, by using their database. so unless this individual works at walmart, i think they deserve an apology. not everyone on this site abuses the system.

What I'm talking about isn't changing the price in the database, but printing out a barcode from a pack of batteries for example, and pasting it onto the package over the regular barcode.

Thus, he hands the $50 game to the scan monkey and it rings up as a $4.99 6 pack of energizer AAs.

Otherwise, why does he need a printer? Just have an associate to scan the items for him.

a) Some people are shy and don't like to ask people to do things for them.

b) Walmarts are usually quite busy, and most clerks are not very happy when someone wastes their time to scan a bunch of games.

Every Walmart in my area has price scanners mounted at various points throughout the store so that customers can scan prices themselves. Really, the question has to be, why mention a bar code printer?

I don't blame the guy for wanting a database. I did the same thing during the TRU 90% green tag sale. I went in with a handful of printed out barcodes (though this was just on regular printer paper with somewhat low quality) so that I could stand at one of the scanners and check prices and write them down for future reference. Found some gems that way. One store I went into tho, the manager of the R Zone came over and got pissed, said "we're not supposed to let you take prices outside of the store." Oh well, I just left, went across the street, and PM'd clearance games at CC :D

And every Walmart in *my* area has the games locked behind a glass case, requiring and associate to come along and open it. At that point, they don't just hand over the game, they hand them to the cashier to wait for you to pay. I understand people being suspicious, but there *are* legitimate reasons for it.

the op could be printing it out and sticking a whole bunch of them to one page, and then using the barcode scanner to see the prices of all the games he wants. i basically did the same thing a few months ago when i had the time.

I had't really thought of that. I stand corrected, that sounds like a legitimate and efficient use of a barcode scanner.
