which are all subsidiaries of the same insane company are having a promotion that lasts until 01/31/07. Beware, although this SHOULD be a national deal, given the sketchiness of these outfits this deal may in fact be YMMV.

the promotion is as follows...

they have a brown bag available at some stores (should be all) that states you may fill it with used DVDs, CDs and Video Games and get 20% more cash or store credit for your trade in for those items.
it also says if you need more bag space you may BYOB (bring your own bag) which means as many DVDs, CDs and Video Games as you can cart which renders the brown bag a useless gimmick.

those of us that trade at these institutions know that for certain games (dvds, cds) there are some respectable, occasionally great trade in values.

they would normally manually tack on 20% extra credit to whatever the trade value is if you want the store credit instead of cash.

with this deal you get the 20% credit + 20% promo credit for a righteous 40% EXTRA STORE CREDIT on any trades made in January 2007.

the cash trades get 20% promo cash added to the value, which is decent loot depending on the game(s).

remember - the bonus cash/credit must be manually adjusted so keep an eye (or two) open.

this deal has potential but may take some effort.

with so many clearance sales going on (KMART, TRU, Sears, etc) there are some definite winners to trade in:

example:

TRU

Godfather LE (XBOX) - 9.98
Wherehouse/FYE CASH trade in value - 20.00 + 4.00 extra cash credit = $24.00

Atelier Iris 2 (PS2) - 9.98
Wherehouse/FYE CASH trade in value - 18.00 + 3.60 extra cash credit = $21.60

Odama (GC) - 9.98
Wherehouse/FYE CASH trade in value - 15.00 + 3.00 extra cash credit = $18.00

Steambot Chronicles (PS2) - 9.98
Wherehouse/FYE CASH trade in value - 15.00 + 3.00 extra cash credit = $18.00

check Wherehouse.com for trade in values on any DVD, CD or Video Game - just subtract 20% from the given credit value for your cash value.

this is a deal that you can earn a 100% return of cash/credit on certain games.

beware - the managers look at you like you have a stocking on your head and a gat in your hand when they are forking over $100 dollars cash for 5 games you just traded...

good luck to all

ps - nearly all of the stores that do trades are running this promotion - as usual CSRs are usually clueless about it - just ask them to look up the current promotions. You do not need the silly brown bag although it helps to have so the CSR will have that clue they could use.

pss - beware that some CSR/Managers will give you the runaround because they don't want to get hosed by yet another nonsensical deal (business-wise) foisted upon them by Corporate.

psss - at some stores i have traded at they do have a 2 copy per title limit - that is, when they have 2 used copies of a title in stock they refuse to take anymore. this seems to be YMMV but beware. i guess all those Max Payne 2s were finally noticed by somebody!
that happened with me too, except I didn't even get 25% extra in trade-in. He said +20% was regular trade-in value, and the 20% promotion on the bag was just "how they advertise", so I only got 20% added manually to my final. Which after I calculated was actually just slightly under 20%. I got cheated out of an extra 25% + 5 cents! And the crappy thing is there's no other FYE stores closeby for a good double digit number of miles.

$56.65 store credit for a $47.25 trade-in :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:
i should have just asked for that in cash...damnit.
that's what happened to me. They gave the same cash as store credit. So I just took the cash.

Does anyone have any kind of link to any official announcement about this promotion? The people who work at my local FYE are truly retarded and I'd like to have some kind of print-out or something to wave in their face when they try to BS me about how this promotion isn't still going or I get less credit than advertised.

Many of the stores have signage throughout the store quoting the extra 20 % trade or cash credit. They are generally blue and spreadout in many areas of the store. I have seen the signs in every store so far, even if the employees weren't aware of the sale. They also have brown bags with the promotion printed on it. Some stores have them on the counter, others have them in the back. That may help ring a bell.

Ask them to look in their "Planner" for all of the details. This outlines the procedures on how to manually add the percentages. This was helpful during their last trade 4-for-1 deal.

Good luck.

question, about a month ago i traded in like $400+ worth of stuff. It was 5 added on every $25, every $100 give you $25 extra, then they add on $20 +. My question is, is the $5 for every $25, and $25 for every $100 still going or is it just the 20% and the 25%?

the FYE near me has tons of those bags with the 20% extra promotion on it at the front counter

but the cute girl i dealt with wasn't sure about the 25% extra I'm normally supposed to get for in store credit, so she asked some retarded manager of hers, and he only gave me 20% total extra, without the 25% of the in store credit.

and I traded in $47.25 of stuff but didn't get any extra, so that $xx amount extra per $xxx trade in thing isn't in effect

I only got 25% added to my trades today. Here is what I traded. Prices are with the extra 25% store credit.

Games
Odama $18.75
Atelier Iris 2 $22.50
Ape Escape 3 $12.50
Godfather CE XB $25

DVDs
Irobot $5
House Flying Daggers $5
Day After Tomorrow $5
Samurai Gun V1+Box $7.50

For a total of $101.25

I just spent it all at Wherehouse.com with there 25% off deal.

FYE is the most poorly run store I have ever had to deal with. GameStop and EB have their problems. Best Buy and Circuit City have theirs. But FYE is consistently, with very few exceptions, the least enjoyable store I deal with.

Their employees have no idea what promotions are going on. Half the time, the managers don't even know about the promotions. On more than one occasion, I had a manager call another store to find out how this promotion worked, only to have the other manager also be clueless. I'd be offered 10%, 20%, 25%, 40%, or 50% depending on the idiot running the register.

The few times I did this deal, I was practically treated like a criminal for participating in a promotion they were willingly offering to the public.

I've been to 2 stores and they are both clueless. They said it was just a 20% bonus, and that they never have given a 25% bonus for store credit, they just take 10% off if they want cash.

Suncoast know how to run the deal (traded a buncha dvds), its a shame they dont take games.

This deal ends jan 31st. Is there any cheap games to flip for FYE credit? Im thinking of trading in like 100 cds since they are pretty much worthless with MP3 players now.

Atelier Iris 2 would get $22.73 at game crazy, but only like $12 for steambot. Hope FYE will pay more for Steambot.
just got an email that this is valid at wherehouse.com. Since they now payout with check or paypal - some deals can be had.
I just noticed this today after entering a small trade in order. I selected cash via paypal, but neither the order confirmation email nor the order status on the website reflects this. It just says "credit."

Has anyone had experience with trade in and getting paid through Paypal with Wherehouse.com?

They didn't ask me to confirm my Paypal email address either (although I'm guessing they'll assume it's the same as your login address). Thought that's kind of strange...

I sent in a couple of games + DVDs to wherehouse.com to see how the PAYPAL thing worked. It took about a week for them to credit my account, it was slightly less because of the PAYPAL fees, but all in all it was pretty painless and I didn't have to deal with clueless cashiers.

my problem is that my paypal email address is different from my wherehouse account email address.

I had the same issue. In paypal you can setup, up to 10 e-mail addresses on your account that can accept payment. I added the address I have on file with Wherehouse.com.

They have not gotten my games yet but media mail from Vermont to California takes forever.

I loved this promotion since I was able to off load a lot of game that I either broke even on or made money and did not have to deal with store credit.

If I may ask about selling to Wherehouse.com how can one confirm the extra 20% since it was stated it works with them? Do I have to enter a coupon code or something durning checkout? I was going to unload a bunch of stuff at my nearest Strawberries, but I found out they are closing that shop. And the next nearest place is a fye which is like 2 hours away. So if I can sell it Wherehouse.com and still get the bonus, it's worth it for me.

The bonus is over online, but it is still going on in-store until tomorrow.

Thanks
