When the fuck is Nintendo going to release Duck Hunt for the Wii Virtual Console? Duck Hunt represents all that is holy nostalgic bliss and I am growing impatient for the laughing dog. Apparently Nintendo has had approval to publish Duck Hunt since last November. :(

It's called target shooting on the Wii Play disc.

I didn't think VC games could make use of the pointing feature of the Wiimote anyway. I could be wrong, though.

Thanks, but according to IGN, Wii Play's Shooting Range mini-game ain't so hot --
In Shooting Range, which is a poor man's Duck Hunt, you use the pointer to shoot down targets, cans, and even flying saucers, but rarely do you actually get to pick off ducks. If you therefore played Duck Hunt so many years ago and are hoping that the experience is duplicated in Wii Play, you will very likely be disappointed because the nostalgia element is only vaguely tethered to the mini-game. It really looks and plays much more like a Duck Hunt tease. On top of that, the target controls, while accurate, are less responsive and intuitive than those in similar shooting-style modes in Wario Ware. And with only five targeting levels to mention, all of them over in less than a minute, the mode is kaput well before you've become a true gunslinger.

Yep. ULTIMATE Duck Hunt. Buy a billion copies so Nintendo gets the message.
Or third party companies just keep pushing out more crash.
Do we even know if it's possible for Nintendo to implement Wii controls for Virtual Console games?
Why would Nintendo seek ESRB approval for Duck Hunt if it didn't intend to release it for Wii? Perhaps they are holding it until they've brought out a game designed to work with a light gun shell?

I really like the shooting game on Wii Play. Also, if you figure that Wii Play costs $10 and there are like 8 games, then the shooting game costs less than $2. Between Tanks, Laser Hockey and the shooting game alone, it's a good deal. I think IGN is usually pretty fair, but they gave Wii Play a bad rap.

So we can stare at the screen without actually playing the game, obviously.

Nice to see Hogan's Alley on that list as well.

Amen. Target shooting is a much better game than Dunk Hunt. Plus there's no stupid, laughing dog. My god, don't you get bored of original Duck Hunt after about 3 minutes anyway?
