I need some suggestions for which game I should play next.

Here are the options:

Beyond Good and Evil -- Xbox
Metal Arms -- Xbox
Metroid Prime -- GC
Mario Sunshine -- GC
Silent Hill 3 -- PS2
Wild Arms 3 -- PS2
Disgaea -- PS2
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night -- PS1

I'm kinda leaning towards Metroid Prime, but I'm not sure.

There are way too many good games there.

Immediately knock out :

Disgaea, Prime, and SotN.

With that list, you can't go wrong, though..

Well, what are you in the mood for? I second Sartori, go with SoTn, Disgaea or MP. Sunshine just didn't impress me all that much for some reason...

I'm kinda in the mood for MP, but I've been wanting to play Disgaea for awhile and some 2d Castlevania would be cool as well, I just can't decide.

Go with Castlevania probably then. You get to kill bad guys with a whip (I think) and it's...sort of... an RPG. Plus I heard it's a great game, take it from Spooky, where is he when you need him? Anyways try out SoTN. :D

don't play wild arms 3. i tried that thing for 30 min and immediately regretted buying it and traded it in. My policy for playing games depends on the amount of time it takes. If you want short and sweet, play BG&E or SH3. If you want something that'll take awhile SoTN gets my vote.

Also jimbodan, I just noticed ur homestarrunner avatar kinda looks like a Banana Slug (im assuming you went to UCSC)

Yep, I just graduated from UCSC, I guess The Cheat does kinda look like one, I never noticed that before.

Also I was under the impression that SotN was a short game, am I mistaken? About how long would you say it is? Also what about Beyond Good and Evil and Metroid?

I think SoTN was at least a 30-40 hr affair for the average gamer. This is because the whole game needs 200% completion in order to get everything. I think I actually played more than 40 hrs trying to get everything, but it was still fun.

I would go with Beyond Good and Evil first. The reason is that it was such a surprise (to me) how great this game actually is. It's pretty short too, which means you can cross it off your list in a week or so. SOTN would be another good one as well and could be fairly short depending on how much you want to find. Sunshine IMO is not very good at all but I'm in the minority.

Wild Arms 3 is a highly underrated RPG. It's solid, has good characters, a good storyline, a fun (if not terrible creative) battle system, etc. It's not a perfect game, the beginning is slow, and having to search for your targets with the radar just blows.. but overall I'd give it a 7 or 8 easily. If you were a fan of the first two, you'll be more than happy with this one.

Definitely play SOTN asap, but I'd play through Prime first seeing how the sequel will be out in a few months. Plus the game can be beaten in less than a weekend.

SOTN doesn't take terribly long, even to 100%. My girlfriend has zero patience for games and she beat it in about a week, and she was so leveled up that Dracula was only hitting for 4 points of damage at the end. To put her playing in perspective, when she tried FFVII, which she was uber-excited about playing, she somehow failed to find a single weapons shop in her rushes through town and couldn't figure out why the bosses were so tough.

SoTN is like an 8-10 hour game. Why not go ahead and knock it out? Then again, Prime is about 10 hours, too.

Sunshine's good, it just depends on what you're looking for - likewise, Wild Arms 3 rocks.

Man I guess my memory is going down the toilet. I thought it was like rpg status in terms of time but it was so long ago i guess i was mistaken.

This is a really nutty thread . . .

I shouldn't participate, but . . .

I really enjoyed Mario Sunshine . . . I don't know why everyone is so harsh about it. You get huge and well designed levels and some great gameplay out of the water aspect.

Mostly, I think you should demo some of these games and find what grabs you. Pop em in and check them out.

That's what I did when I got my Xbox this past Spring and I ended playing Metal Arms for a few weeks . . .

Don't listen to other people, figure it our yourself.

looks like SotN won, Beyond Good and Evil came in a surprising 2nd place though, I'm glad I picked it up at the TRU sale. Thanks for voting!

If you want to start with the best, I'd suggest Metroid Prime or Disgaea. However, you may be well advised to start with BG&E or SH3, because those are relatively short.

Agreed.. Get the short games out of the way and get ready for Disgaea and WA3.

I voted BG&E, I think once you start you won't be able to put it down. Its pretty short too. Then I would start on metroid prime.

Wow...I was about to say exactly this. It's an enjoyable, lighter, turn based RPG. I'm currently playing FFX-2 [in the last dungeon, but saving isn't real convenient, so I have to plan to play], La Pucelle [really loved this one at first, but now I don't know what to think], Front Mission 4 [fun so far, but I can see it getting boring, and the micromanagement could be overwhelming], and Wild Arms 3. I don't know if I would have paid 40 bucks for it, but it's fun so far, even with the caveats you mention. [My biggest is that when I come back to play after a couple days, I forget where I'm supposed to go/look for.]

Anyway, I'd probably start with SotN on your list.

The current speed run record (played on a PS1) for SoTN is just under 14 minutes. So even for first-time players it can't be too long.

Beyond Good and Evil was great so I'd say that or metroid prime. I just couldn't get in to Super Mario Sunshine. It was pretty good, I just didn't want to finish it.

I'd go with Metroid Prime just for the sheer awesomeness o fthe game and the fact that it is, IMO, a near perfect traslation of the Metroid series (my favorite series by the way) to 3d, and if you are a fan or have liked the other incarnations of the games, than you should like this one.
