Which has more value: Trials Evolution or the Orange Box?

I know it's been years since Orange Box's release and there are a number of people on fire :hot: for Trials Evolution right now, but I think this is a fair question and would love to hear your thoughts.
Both games have significant value. Orange Box holds some of the best stand alone gaming bundled together - Currently selling for $20.
Trials Evolution rolls out for $15. But it has 'Track Central' which allows for unlimited tracks, and from what the first few weeks have proven, Quality Tracks are being created in spades.

So.... who would you declare a winner in this feud, and are there any games that you feel rival the value found on these to games?

I uh, wasn't aware there was a rivalry going here. The Orange Box (collectively) and Trials are from two entirely different genres, I wouldn't even say they're comparable. It is whatever each person likes best.

Orange Box.[/QUOTE]

I would tend to disagree. First Person shooters make me nauseous so therefore no contest for me . Trials it is. Not quite sure why they are compared though.

As to your question about any games that would be similar in content, I would take last years NCAA Football game, NHL game or MLB game over either of the two at the same price.

My kids and I put a ton of time into Keflings also. Just got Sega Genesis Collection for $10 at KMART. That probably has more value than either of the two to someone who is a genesis game fan.

To each his own. Kind of a ridiculous question. Doesn't really matter how much is stuffed on to a disc. I found a ton of value at $17 with Silent Hill Homecoming at $17 and that took me 5 hours or so to complete.

Great answers. I guess maybe a way to look at it would be, what would be the max price you would be willing to pay for a game and still feel that it was worth it. Orange box left me feeling like I could have dropped $200 and still been a happy camper. Trials, while it is still fresh, seems like it would have been a no brainer at $60.

There is no reason for the comparison other than the Orange box is first to mind when I think of Gaming Value and I thought I'd see how it stacked up to Trials Evo. I certainly find myself come to CAG for no reason, so I figured no shame in pointless gaming discussions. It is what we do here, among other things.

This is a weird question.

For one, Team Fortress 2 is free to play on PC and the console version is essentially past its expiration date, having never been updated since launch.

For that reason Trials is the better value today because of the level of challenge, multiplayer, and track editor. Plus you can still play Trials and TF2 at no extra cost :0

It's a documented fact that upon release The Orange Box was the greatest value in a single retail release. It's almost too much game for one box. Trials:Evolution is currently the greatest single XBLA release.

So there you have it: Orange Box = best disc, Trials:E = best XBLA.
Overall: Orange Box wins.

OP: you can make this a poll thread for easier results.

While I would never pay anything over $60 for a game, and no more than $15(MAYBE $20) for an XBLA game, I'll take your question for games that offer great value.
Aside from Orange Box, I've felt more than satisfied with the $60 price tag of Skyrim/Oblivion, Fallout 3(let alone FO3 GOTY), Borderlands, COD4, Burnout Paradise, Skate, and Crackdown. If I had to do it all over again, there are plenty of games that I would have saved my $60 on waited for a price-drop. But those listed above would easily get my $60.(Lack of PS3 games is due to my not having one. I'm sure there is plenty of value in some of those games, but I mostly missed out on them)
Honorable mention goes to Shadowrun. I contemplated putting it in my original list, but I think the only thing keeping it off was the lack of support it got from the developer. Otherwise, I loved the direction they took standard FPS online gameplay and felt it had so much to offer and loads of potential.

Thinking past this generation, my mind goes to old Nintendo consoles, which brings to mind Metroid Prime, Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and Banjo Kazooie.

I enjoy(ed) Trials Evo much more than the Orange Box. The only game in that package I truly enjoyed was Portal. I'm sure Orange Box would win in a popular opinion poll though. It's not even really fair; 5 games to 1.

I'm talking from a PC perspective , so this might not be relevant to this conversation, but I was disappointed in the Orange Box. I had already purchased Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. Valve essentially "forced" me to buy the Orange Box at a higher price in order to get Episode 2. They did not offer Epsiode 2 standalone, like they had Episode 1. So I felt cheated that I had to pay for 2 games that I already owned.
