Which LA Location are you going to Camp at for Midnight Launch for PS3

I'm planning on going to whichever location probably at 8 am maybe? Maybe earlier to beat traffic so maybe 5am?

Not sure which one though, either West LA or Hawthorne CC. I think it depends on how many the West LA one is getting. However they're being tight lipped about that and won't tell.

Just to be clear, you are talking about getting there around 5am on Wednesday?

Anyone other than Mysteriouskk heading to Hawthorne?

Btw, Mysterious, what time are you heading there. I keep reading different times from you.

thursday. I really don't intend to camp anymore than 24hrs

Yea, I keep reading more and more on how people are idiots going earlier and earlier. I'm thinking maybe about 5-6PM on the 15th. Are you going any earlier?

I'm also split between CC in Hawthorne and BB in west LA ... although I live closer to the BB in Holywood I feel that the store may not get as many units as the West LA one. I really don't know where to go.

I wouldn't use those nutty people as a gauge of how early you should wait.

whats up guys???i will be at this circuit city on the morning of the 16th.....
We should meet up?? to camp....PM ME....Or i might end up at Best buy in WLA...if they have more than 100....PM ME

I need to call the Hawthorne CC to find out what their product launch day queue policy is...like, whether I can bring a sleeping bag; when can a legitimate line begin to form (i.e., 1am on the 16th? earlier perhaps?), etc. If I can stop by Hawthorne at 5am on the 15th, I'll stop by to check out the line and if there aren't too many people, I'll take a place in the line.

This will be my first ever camp-out in front of a store for...anything. I've never done anything like it before.

I'll probably show up at hawthorne in the early early thursday morning, maybe like 4 am. do you guys think that will be adequate?

From what I hear Hawthorne isn't exactly the nicest neighborhood. Though I am from the LA aera I've never been there. Anyone know how safe it would be to camp out Wednesday night? I guess if it's not that safe (by myself until Thursday) I will just go to bed early Wednesday and get in line Thursday morning if that's even still possible. (I plan on having a friend swing by Wednesday evening to scope out the line.)

Should I go through with this, I'm definitely bringing pepper spray. Aside from the opportunity for gamers and scalpers to get their PS3, it's also a great opportunity for good old fashion stick-ups.

I hope whatever police department that has jurisdiction over Torrance would have the sense to focus a little more attention to stores that are selling PS3s.

I could bring guns if we really needed them, but I don't think that'd do any good if they got the jump on you anyway =p and u'd be holding a ps3 in your hand.

From what I hear there are already some tards outside the CC Hawthorne. That might make me decide to goto WLA BB instead.

so far speculated is 40 60GB and 40 20GB systems.

i dunno if this guy is bsing (from slickdeals)

CC in Hawthorne

My friends went down there and were told by everyone else in line that there were 116 people in line and that they were "policing" the line (the people, not CC) so if you wanted to get out of line for a bathroom/break or food, someone has to cover your spot because they would be doing a roll call often. Super anal if you ask me. Also, my friends said it didn't quite look like 116 people, but that's what they were told. CC said they're not checking on the line and don't care and its up to the campers to keep order. This CC does have an additional 30 that they will sell Friday am, but people are waiting in line for those tonigh, hence the ecxtra 16 people. So I would avoid this store at all costs. My "crew" and I are going to a BB now and my brother-in-law just went down to this BB in the OC and spoke to the manager. He said that BB was only allowing people to line up on Thursday and he said we could basically line up Weds. night when the store closes. This store has 18 units in stock currently, but the manager heard about the 26 total and is expecting at least that many. So that seems to be our next best bet and I'm relieved because now we only have to camp out two nights.

Good luck everyone and if you really want a PS3 plan on camping somwhere by Weds. night the latest for Friday a.m. launch.

Also, they didn't mention the BB across the street from Hawthorne CC, but when I was there earlier today, there was no one in line.

pretty sure that guy is full of shit. coworker's friend went by today and there were only 5-10 people.

I'll be camping at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in Reseda, and picking up my system on Saturday morning from EB.

I'm down to go wherever there are the most CAGs waiting...but i'd probably be going after work on Thursday. I'll keep track of this thread and see if there are updates to the # of people in line at all the locations and make a decision by that.

ill probably be there at 11pm wednesday, if anyone is interested, ill give out my cell # so I can update u guys on the status of the line

Okay. I JUST called the Hawthorne CC and the sales woman told me that there's already 100+ people there, so...Guess that rules out Hawthorne for me :(

can anyone confirm this, there were only 5-10 people yesterday.

Well either way I think i'm gonna goto WLA now since they don't let people camp out too early.

So, will I still have a chance if I go tomorrow to the West LA BB?
So, will I still have a chance if I go tomorrow to the West LA BB?
Keep me posted guys. I want a PS3 at Midnight and I will go Wednesday at 7pm. Anyone down to keep tabs at certain stores so we can save time and know which one we will get one at?
So, will I still have a chance if I go tomorrow to the West LA BB?
i will go tomorrow night at west LA, i plan on getting there abouit 8pm or 9pm. If there are already 60 or more people in line i will just leave, i assume they are getting 60 because that is what the tracker said. I will make sandwiches and probably bring a few balance bars and a gallon jug of water, maybe some carrot sticks as well and also an empty bottle to piss in. i dont want to chance anything.

WLA BB won't let you camp until 12am tomorrow. (though you should prob try right when they close tomorrow)

As for the hawthorne CC, my coworker drove by just now, he confirmed around 50 people. 100 my ass.... figures people trying to prevent people from even trying by spreading lies

Thank you!! I am so at Hawthorne, whos with me?

Btw, you mentioned at WLA BB that 12 am tommorow? That means Wednesday midnight?

If im SOL at CC I will go to BB then, anyone with me? I will be rolling out at 3pm to check.

this may be a new policy because there were definitely people waiting in line over 24 hours for the xbox launch last year. Oddly, there were even more people doing that for the second shipment in december.

edit: i am referring to the west LA bestbuy on pico and sawtelle.

yeah, BB corporate issued out a policy after the Burbank people started waiting way too early and the police booted them out.

I sure hope that BB in WLA is enforcing that rule as well. As they are a midnight launch location i'd hope so as they'd probably be under more scrutiny.

in other news, time to start charging up those PSP batteries lol.

I planned on going to a place like BB or CC last year for the 360 launch but the lines overwhelmed me. I really don't want to wait with a BUNCH of people. I went to a concert last year and after it was over (midnight), I started driving around and came across a pretty decent-sized Target. They ended up getting like 44 systems and I was like 25th in line. I only had to wait 6 hours or so.

My plan is to basically wake up early thursday since I have the day off and start checking my Target. I'll check in like 2-3 hour intervals until I see a line forming. Once there is a line, I'll set up camp and start waiting. All I know is that last year, the 1st person in line showed up at 5pm the day before...I expect it will be earlier this year so I'm prepared to camp starting in the morning.
Anyone check Hawthorne today? I don't trust that video.
I hear it's a dallas BB, but my friend did confirm 50 or so people there last night at hawthorne. No idea how many now.

i called west hollywood and the guy said the line is already going around the corner. He also wont say how many their getting. I guess the "no line til' midnight thursday " is not happening.
i called west hollywood and the guy said the line is already going around the corner. He also wont say how many their getting. I guess the "no line til' midnight thursday " is not happening.
goddamn BB Assholes............ They're supposed to keep with thier policy. somone should call corporate and force all those early camping retards out

did you ask them specifically if they are getting 248 60gb in?
did you ask them specifically if they are getting 248 60gb in?
yeah i did and his answer was "we're not allowed to say".

I was really hoping to go there afterwork and line up once the store closes. Guess its too late for that...any other CAGS out there with more info on other BB???

The crap part of this is, with the downgrade in launch unit numbers, it's not like we can find some dusty, inconspicuous place to swoop in unnoticed and grab a unit. Most of those places just plain aren't getting PS3s. Even the non-midnight launch BBs and CC are probably getting such a small number that they're already likely accounted for.

I'm going to the WLA BB after work unless I can get confirmation that the West hollywood one is INDEED getting 200+ units. It seems like a typo to me because the only reason for that allocation would be some sort of special event which I have not heard anything about anywhere. Which probably means it doesnt exist and it is a typo.

WLA wont confirm that theres already a line. He keep saying that Line will start tonight at midnight and then they'll hand out wristband tomorrow. I dont get it. can anyone confirm if theres a line already??? or are they kicking people out thats starting to line up?

Strange, its West Hollywood that has the midnight release and WLA has 248?
they both have midnight release. WLA is getting 40 and W.Hollywood is getting 248. those are unconfirmed numbers though.
not just 40 though, those are only numbers for the 60GB and supposedly. ;) there are still 20gb ones remember.
