Which LA Location are you going to Camp at for Midnight Launch for PS3
The crap part of this is, with the downgrade in launch unit numbers, it's not like we can find some dusty, inconspicuous place to swoop in unnoticed and grab a unit. Most of those places just plain aren't getting PS3s. Even the non-midnight launch BBs and CC are probably getting such a small number that they're already likely accounted for.
is it worth going to a place like target or another CC? or even another BB? I would really REALLY hate to camp out twice in two days at two different locations and get the shaft both times.

i thought about it some, and the west hollywood store really isnt an option for me because where the fuck would i leave my car for 28 hours? I could try the store lot(i think they have one, ive only been there once or twice) but i dont think it would be free for waiting that long.

I guess i could take the bus or bike, but biking at night in rush hour traffic is asking for trouble, but i guess the bus is an option. I will probably just try my luck at the west LA store.

Are you people bringing sleeping bags or will you just stand and wait and stay awake? i will bring a few books, a cd player and probably the nintendo DS.
they both have midnight release. WLA is getting 40 and W.Hollywood is getting 248. those are unconfirmed numbers though.
PS3seeker.com says 130 for the West LA BB on Pico. Where'd you hear 40?
My friend told me there were even campers at the Culver City Circuit City. That's frightening.
Are you people bringing sleeping bags or will you just stand and wait and stay awake? i will bring a few books, a cd player and probably the nintendo DS.
If I do commit to going somewhere for a unit, I'm not waiting more than like 8 hours, tops, so I won't be bringing a sleeping bag -- just some protein bars, a jug of water, my DS or PSP, and maybe a book. Maybe a folding chair, but I imagine I'll just sit against a wall or something.

I take it everyone's either in line already or said screw it.

I think I may sit it out today. I mean, I just got Gears of War, Tony 8, and WWE SvR 07 this week. Perhaps I'll cruise around at 4am tomorrow and see if any stores are looking lineless, though I'm doubtful.

maaan... I said screw it when I saw full lines ot my local best buy on tuesday nite!

and I live in a town of white trash and hicks!

it's game over for me man!! game over!

Yeah, I'm trying to find a location that is enforcing a "line starts at _" policy. I told myself I wasn't going to wait for more than 12 hours and I'm sticking to my guns. I would rather make a mad dash for the door. If anyone knows any location like this, let me know.

I just went to a circuit city down in irvine (you know in the oc hehehe), and they said that their line would start tomorrow morning at 6am. Its basically just going to be a mad rush to see who gets a wristband/ticket. They are only going to have 6 of the premium systems, so yeah good luck. Maybe some other circuit city's in LA are doing something similar.

That is awesome. But I've changed my mind again. I don't want to be a part of this anymore. But I really really do want to drive down there just to see streets running red with the blood of infidels.

Holy shit, what a chaotic launch. I ended up with 2 20GB PS3's. I showed up a day and 6 hours early and I was still #110 in Line! Just wow..... the WLA BB lineup sure had it's moments though.

Initially they told people there were 140 and gave them wristbands. well come 11:30 pm today they found out they only got 108. LUCKILY for me however 11 people were booted from the line for not following the instructions which bumped me up to 99. So many people who waited more than a day, still did not get thier ps3s. Other than that they handled things rather well, took down names and ID early with 2-4 hour interval checkups on the line. No worries of cutting or anything and time to goto the restroom or get food.

I heard the hollywood location was not so fortunate and they had some real anal staff that would kick you out of line for going to the restroom.

The most amusing thing that definetly happened in line was that there was this lady from 9.86 Latino Radio station who wanted a ps3. She initially offered a homeless dood in line 500 extra for getting it to her so I guess they could raffle it off for the radio station. Well lo and behold they didnt approve the extra cost. So Instead she offered him a Blow Job and uh yeah I guess they worked things out...........

Blow jobs for a ps3, It was bound to happen.

oh yeah, and as we left one of our cops got called away to the Circuit city I think in la cienaga. Apparently a riot broke out there. man this has been one fucked up launch

Oh yeah. G4 was around a few times interviewing people as well as other random media. Apparently Hollywood was a launch event sort of thing. I think the highlight of the first night was some guys in a van with a megaphone harassing the G4 people proclaiming to be "G5" and telling them that they'd accept applications if they wanted a job ;)

i was number 140. I got there at midnight the night before, and thought i had a decent shot at a system. But like you said they only got 108, then they said they would be getting 22 the next morning, so i was like screw it.

I called in before heading over, they told me anyone waiting more than 24 hours was violating store policy and would not get a system. The early campers got around this by waiting on the sidewalk and not on BB property.

I got interviewed on TV twice, one by g4 tv (i never heard of them, apparently a videogame channel) I was the guy eating the strawberry ice cream cone.

I also was interviewed by some other show, they gave me a t shirt. This was right after midnight and they told us they were only getting 108 and didnt know how many they were getting the next morning, but thought it would be 20 to 30. I hadnt slept much the night before, and would have been wrecked for work today if i tried to camp out 2 nights in a row. The guy interviewing me asked me if i was pissed and "who's ass are you going to kick" and "who do you blame" I thought this was funny, i told him trying to beat someone up wont make more systems magically appear and that we all knew this was a possibility but was still worth taking a chance on, or something to that effect, i dont really remember exactly what i said.

Props to all who got a ps3.

As for the radio woman who allegedly gave a blowjob for a ps3, the guy who allegedly took the hummer should have just taken the $500 and then went and got a couple dozen blowjobs from hookers on sunset.

this is the sort of thing i am glad we didnt have to deal with at the santa monica store- i hope that none of the fools fighting got a ps3, they should not reward thuggery. Beating each other up will not magically make more systems appear. I guess if the workers werent keeping track of who was in line with a list or wristbands etc, and someone tried to jump in the line in front of the people who had been waiting 24+ hours, that is a reason to lynch the ass-hole.

The westwood BB was pretty silly from what i heard, the BB employee in charge of handing out the tickets to get a system totally ignored the line and just picked people randomly- totally ignoring the people who were first in line(i cant confirm this as i was not there, but this is what i heard).

Oh yeah. G4 was around a few times interviewing people as well as other random media. Apparently Hollywood was a launch event sort of thing. i dont remeber any of this, but i may have been asleep for it. Again props to all of the campers who got a system. I was surprised at how few of the premium systems they got (40?) and more core systems(68?) this is just on memory i dont remember if this is what they ended up getting or not

I think the systems may trickle in over the next few weeks, as this best buy location paid for 135 systems, and they got 108, and expected more in the morning but werent sure how many. I will check on saturday and monday when the store opens just to see.

how the fuck did you get 2 systems? I noticed a lot of people were using two driver's license saying "my wife if getting one too" when they were going through the line and checking names, and crossing names off the list for people who were no longer in line. I thought this was pure BS and that if they werent in line all day and could just show up before midnight because their husband/friend/ whatever was holding their place was really annoying

my girlfriend camped with me. She owed me ;). and yes she was legitly there camping with us. The thing is if 11 people didnt get kicked out ahead of us, we wouldve never got ours.

but yeah Dracula that was some shitty luck. people after 108 didn't even arrive that late after me.

What did they tell you guys after they gave away the 108? Igot out of there as quick as a I could. Do you guys have some sort of reserve on incoming systems, after all they gave out wristbands.

And as for the guy who supposedly got the sexual favor for the ps3. Apparently the guy in front of us in line hired him to wait in line for $250. The Latino radio station lady offered him $500 initially and he ditched the guy who hired him. She was unable to come up with the money and they came to a "agreement"

So eventually we came to the conclusion that it was just basically hard for the guy to make another deal since he didn't have the initial money to buy the ps3 in the first place without the girl

woah! we're in yahooo news :D

they stuck to the list and said they would be getting more systems in tomorrow, but they werent sure how many, probably about 20, but said if you were over 140 you had absolutely no chance of getting a system(i guess he knew they were going to kick about 10 to 12 people out of line), this was the BB employee with dark hair and glasses and had the list of names. He seemed to be the only guy who knew what was going on.

After he told us the status of everything, and said if you were over # 140 you might as well go home bc there was no chence for you in the morning, i asked him, "well i am number 140, should i wait? should i go?" and he said he couldnt be sure and couldnt make any promises. This was what they kept saying all day, so I cant really say they were misleading anyone.

and said we had to stay in line and could not leave except to go to the bathroom(no sleeping in your car). The people i was waiting with and sharing food with etc, they had the numbers from 134 to 139) and they all went home at about 12:30.

At that point i said "screw it" and left as well, because for all I know they might only get 10 systems in the morning if they were expecting 20 to 22. there were people behind me, numbers as high as 148 to 160(who arrived at late as 3pm and had been only waiting 9 hours) who decided to stick it out and wait until 8am. I told them all "good luck". and left I didnt sleep well on the sidewalk the previous night and was going to try to sleep in my car until they said that this would not be allowed. I didnt want to get sick or anything.

Earlier in th day they passed out bracelets to the first 135 people at 3pm and told the next 5 people they were expecting another 5 systems by the end of the day(this was from joe, the blond BB worker who was in charge of the line up until he left after the bracelets were passed out at 3pm)

Igot out of there as quick as a I could. Do you guys have some sort of reserve on incoming systems, after all they gave out wristbands.

even the guys who got wristbands were not guaranteed anything. I have no reserve on anything, we are out of luck. They also told us that at the nintendo ds launch, they had bought 40 systems to sell at their store, and gave out 40wristbands, and only got 5 systems in the morning. The other 35 people were totally assed out and not guaranteed of anything.

They dont do preorders at best buy, i may check back later in the weekend tho. Afterall they purchased 135 from sony, they got 108 and god knows how many they got the next morning.

seeing as how he was a homeless person with no 600 dollars, he really had no options, i am guessing she just gave him 50 bucks or something.

But the thing is, i dont think they were allowing people to sell their spot in line, i really hope the woman got kicked out of line for not following the rules. Here is hoping she gave a hummer to a homeless man(or money or whatever) and then she still didnt get a system.

She probably didnt work for any radio station, and sounds like a part time whore(gee, imagine that, a hooker who tells lies? rofl) who was looking to make some extra money.

I remember hearing about the bum at the front of the line, if she did get a premium system, and if this woman really did get a premum system, then it was probably worth it to her to give the hummer, i mean how often can a chick get 2000 bucks for only having to give one blowjob? She should have had to give a hummer to all of the guys in line that she was screwing over. that would have been awesome.

On a related note, all day and all of the previous night, when people would drive by and ask "why are you waiting in line?" I tried to give snappy answers like "we are doing a gangbang with jenna jameson and we are in line to take turns" or "there is a midget at the front of the line giving $2 blowjobs". When a hot chick would drive up and ask what the line if for, i would just say "for you".

I dont know if i will ever camp out like this, it was pretty disappointing to wait so long just to get assed out.

I headed out to the Washington Ave/Overland Best Buy at 4am, as there was no line when I drove by at 8pm. There were 25 people waiting, so I thought the odds would be good of me getting a system. After about an hour (only 2 other people joined behind me), someone in a car rode up, claiming to be a manager.

He said they already gave all the coupons (34) to campers before, so we're waiting for nothing. Everyone just kind of looked at him dumbfounded; there was no sign posted or anything. A cop drove by a few minutes later, and we asked him about it. He said there had been other people camping the day before, but he wasn't sure what happened to them.

Another guy in that familiar Best Buy polo shirt/khaki pants combo walked up, and the cop talked to him. Yup, it was confirmed. I didn't mind wasting an hour, really. I swung by the CC on 4th St. in Santa Monica, but it looked to be about 20 campers -- likely more than they'd have units -- so I called it a night.

Congrats to everyone who got one; I hope you enjoy it!

haha I know what you mean, we were all sitting at the stop light so people would be able to take the time and roll down thier window. We went from American Idol to Paris Hilton to the new Bow Wow CD. Eventually I just felt like "we're all waiting to bang your mom at the end of the line"

As for the lady I confirmed she was working for the station and she did indeed ge tthe console in the end. how it worked basically is they fronted him the money for the machine and he gave it to her in the parking lot. She had 2 big looking doods to make sure he didnt run away with it.

but yeah, if I didnt get a wristband, I probably wouldnt have even tried at that point.

Woot.

I got a 60gig PS3 from the Circuit City on Sunset Blvd (by Acapulco/Tiki Ti bar, etc). The store had 18 (all 60gig) in stock and I was #14 when I arrived at around 2:30pm on Wednesday.
Thanks to a roster sheet (for vouchers) that was created by an employee who also waited in line, things went smoothly today when the store opened up early at 8:00am.

yeah that is me licking the ice cream cone. rofl. They totally edited out 90% of what i said but i expected that heh.

I like how they say "here are some interviews of kids waiting for the ps3" on the header. I am 30 years old, lol.

Oh my favorite was "we are here for the release of the new harry potter book". That seemed the funniest to me.

wed afternoon afterwork i drove straight to west l.a. bestbuy just to check if they're following the no line til' 12 hours before launch policy. well, i guess not coz' i was gonna be number 78 in the line. at that point i figure i'm not getting the 60 gb system anymore so i didnt stay in line and drove back to the valley to find a local bestbuy and line up there. by the time i got back to the valley lines are already forming. there were more than 30 peple at the porter ranch bestbuy . i ended up lining up at Target in van nuys where they gave out 6 20 gig system. i was number 4 in line. i still ended up with a 20 gig system.

btw, i camped out with one of the guys that originally got kicked out of the burbank bestbuy after 4 days of camping out. He didnt get a PS3 after 2 nights of camping at target. I feel bad for him...
