ahead of the super bowl we all heard about tim tebows pro life commercial. when it aired i that it was entirely simple, non-confrontational and to the point. sure, its controversial if youre vehemently pro choice, but i dont think it really ruffled any feathers.

then this commercial came on and bugged the hell out of me. audis green police commercial. i guess i wasnt the only one who was displeased with this commercial. i know the radio show i listen to in the morning was talking about it, just read the comments to the video and youll see others were annoyed too.

so im just wondering what you guys think. i mean, the audi one was a lot more subtle with its political tone, but in a country where people can already get fined for improperly sorting their garbage i didnt see the humor.

that green police commercial just struck me as incredibly stupid. however, i've become used to seeing that kind of "retard"edness on tv so it doesn't bother me much.

While I agree with you about the Tebow commercial being completely harmless(I'm actually offended by how much of a let down it was in the offensive factor), I don't understand why the Audi commercial upset people. I honestly don't think they were aiming at anything political, I think they were just trying to be humerous in putting across their point of being the most green-friendly car. Yes, it failed in the humor, but I dont' think it's offensive.

How about the census commercials? Two million plus per spot spent by the government to increase census awareness.

They're not going to change minds, and awareness will be fine when the papers start arriving.

I find your ideas intriguing and would like to hand out your literature at the airport.

If a womans choice upsets the 'pro choice' group, then why not call themselves the 'pro death' group? Dr. Kevorkian doesn't lie about his true intentions.

They were upset because CBS has a policy about not having "advocacy ads" during the superbowl and has denied numerous commercials about accepting gay people, etc. in the past that weren't even from advocacy groups (like focus on the family).

Pro-choice groups openly support her decision and the right for all women to be able to choose whatever they wish.

Nice try though.

The Green Police one really struck me as preachy, so I guess that was the worst ad of the night for me. The GoDaddy ones...don't really care anymore.

The green police one was funny.

Few don't realize diesel's benefits. All people seem to care is if the car is a hybrid and they buy it. Marketing Diesel fuel as "Green" should open up some eyes.

And it seems to have worked. You remember it as the Audi commercial. I couldn't remember what car brand they were advertising.

Don't tell people you can grow oil with algae so successfully that a 10K square mile area within the Mojave Desert could supply all of America's transportation and heating needs. Shh. It's a secret.

ah yes, i must have blocked out that terrible census commercial. nice to know that our government is spending millions of dollars in producing these commercials and millions more to advertise them on the super bowl (among other places).

same here..
its retardness

The magic word here is choice. I'm pro-choice, and I feel that if every woman in the world opted to keep their unborn child and bring it into the world that would be fine and dandy, just so long as that choice remained in their hands.

I didn't watch the Superbowl and haven't in about 10 years now, but the Tim Tebows commercial seemed rather harmless; harmless to the point that I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't what I expected.

The Green Police commercial, however, is an example of people with a positive message that's horribly executed. I think it's a horrible move to have your cause bring about thoughts of the Gestapo, especially with the screams of "FASCIST" in this day and age.

I thought the Green Police commercial was funny, though I lamented that it got a Cheap Trick song stuck in my head.

The Focus on the Family ad was fine since they omitted Tebow's mother's lie about her doctor suggesting abortion. But in context with CBS' demands that EA edit the "Go To Hell" tag from the Dante's Inferno ad, along with their denial of the Mancrunch ad, show favoritism to only a certain *flavor* of offensive/advocacy ads.

The mancrunch ad wasn't very good, but that's hardly the point. They're a legit business looking to advertise and gain exposure, not a politico-religious advocacy group like FotF.

Geez, they're even angled in the "we're obviously not kissing" way.

But for the actual commercials that aired, the overt misogyny that seemed to permeate all the ads is what got most of my attention - especially that weird portable tv thing.

And Doritos barking dog shock collar FTW.

Didn't watch the Stupor Bore, but that Green Police commercial is either scary or funny depending on your viewpoint. I couldn't figure out the overall message though, since it seems to make fun of the "Green Police" but then wants you to buy a product that is supposedly "green."

I like how the Audi commercial makes people think that driving a "clean" diesel is somehow environmentally sound.

Why should Tebow's commercial offend pro-choicers? Abortion was offered to his mom along with all the other options and she CHOSE not to. Without the option, the doctor would've just walked in and said, "This pregnancy will probably kill you and your unborn child. Good luck and see ya."

Why did the Audi commercial bug you?

The census commercials were fine. I am sure it will change a few minds, and had they not seen the commercials-- the government would have to send a shit ton more money spending agents to their house repeatedly.

I thought pro-death was already snagged by the fur coat/leather jacket/meat eater crowd.

It was just weird to equate driving clean diesel with being as environmentally crazy as the guys in Green Peace. After all, you're still using gasoline.

Yeah. I'll remember it alright. I'll remember to peel out in front of my local Audi dealer with my Mustang GT. Green police that!

That's really sticking it to the ma...wait, who exactly are you sticking it to by driving a Mustang like an asshole? You'll be looked at as a Mustang-driving asshole, not someone who is making their oh-so delicate protests at green products known via their driving technique.

Hey, Floyd.
Yeah?
Did you hear that?
Hear what?
That car over on the street. It just peeled out very loudly.
Oh, some cocksucking Mustang, I bet.
Yeah, but this one...it just feels different. Like they were trying to tell us they disagree with our marketing campaign and that they are offering up their disdain of a product they had zero interest in and couldn't afford anyway.
Say...I think you're right. Let's get corporate on the phone stat! PULL THE COMMERCIAL!

- or is this more likely? -

Audi employee stubs out cigarette, mutters something to himself inquiring who exactly that asshole was showing off to, walks inside, and picks up a copy of "Golf Digest."

clean diesel is the best thing we have right now. its better than your good ol fashion cars and theyre more "green" than hybrids. im not saying we shouldnt pursue newer and better technologies, but its the best we have (other than all out electric).

I thought the Audi commercial was funny as hell and the Tebow commercial was a complete non-issue. What am I supposed to be pissed off about again?

Wow... I feel so violated by that Green police because they threw in a Cock car at the end...

Interesting note: Did you know when they turn on their blinker on the car will turn off the stupid LED "daytime running lights" on that side so you can see the amber blinker on? It's great stuff.

Edit: LOL@ below posts.
