Which Total War?

CAGiversary!
Hey,
I am considering getting my first Total War game. I see that there are tons of them that generally have great reviews. I know the new Shogun one is coming out, but I looked online and I don't think my computer can run it quite as fast as the other computers, nor do I think I'm as interested in the Japanese type warfare compared to the many other themes they have.
I wanted to ask which Total War you might recommend? I can run everything up to Napoleon very well on my computer.
Thanks

Also, if anyone knows of any kick-ass deals that would be awesome too, I will be taking price slightly into my decision of purchasing a Total War game.

Rome: Total War was the first Total War game that I played and I loved it. Didn't like the expansion (Barbarian Invasion). Bought Medieval Total War 2 on release date when it came out and could not get into it as much as Rome. In my opinion it was more complicated - Towns versus Forts, more specialists, joining the Crusade was difficult. I found I kept going back to Rome. I bought Empire Total War on steam during their Xmas sale for $10 via a group game pack. I only played the intro campaign so far but looks nice - naval battles are finally playable. But my 3 year old PC has trouble with running it smoothly even with a new GTX 460 768 MB video card.

Anyway my personal preference is Rome Total War... liked the time period, liked the variety in countries and armies.

I have only played medieval 2 tw but I would agree- pick the time period you are most interested in and play that. The time periods are pretty different and the combat style changes accordingly. So if you want to fight with swords and spears then pick Rome or medieval, etc. If you are in it for the eye candy then pick napoleon or wIt for shogun 2 tw.
