which wii-u bundle to buy? is wii-u even worth buying in 2018?

hello,  haven't bought a Nintendo console since SNES.  I don't know but i feel like buying the wiiu

i have 2 offers and few questions

offer 1-  32Gb Wiiu with mario kart 8 in great condition for $150(asking $175 but saying would take $150) doesn't come with original box 

offer 2- 32Gb super mario 3d world deluxe bundle in box.  The seller saying it's in great condition and she is asking $175 

questions:

1- can i use my external hard drive or do i have to go with a nintendo memory card?

2- can i download old SNES,N64,gamecube etc, titkles from nintendo store? 

3-is the system backwards compaitable with any other nintendo games? 

overall what are some pros and cons and is the wiiu worth buying in 2018?  i heard nintendo stopped producing more so i think now might be the time to buy because some of the prices on ebay are crazy high

1. yes any USB hard drive should work

2. yes, wii u has a virtual console library. It's smaller than the Wii's, but there. Wikipedia has the list of games on it.

3. It is backwards compatible with the Wii.
