Whites for Obama: How do you talk sense into the racist voters?
And no, a flat tax isn't equal at all. A percentage is much more fair and you know it.
I know it is, but I want you to explain to me why it is, then I think we can get somewhere.

That really distrubs me. wtf is wrong with people.

You guys didn't think the White Establishment would give up the Presidency without a fight did you? We've seen everything from Obama's a Muslim terrorist to ghetto community organizers are lazy do nothings that are just trying to bring down the White Establishment. That last one was an actual quote that I heard at a get together. I love how everyone doesn't think I'm black and they go off spewing more and more garbage.
This. The ONLY fuckin reason a lot of my relatives on my mom's side, which is primarily Catholic, are voting for McCain and are Republicans is because they're pro-life. Hell, if there were a Pro-Life party, whose mission was to reverse Roe v. Wade and ban abortion at a federal level, they would be on it even if the same platform was pro-Holocaust and pro-date rape or something. I went over this with my great-aunt, a Catholic ex-nun, in 04. She said she was voting for our douchebag President again (nevermind that both Kerry and Biden are Catholic). I was on the phone with her and she said it was because he's pro-life. I asked her if sending thousands of troops and innocents to die in Iraq is pro-life. No answer. And then a following Christmas she gave me and my cousin coffee mugs that had W's ugly mug on them. I am not making this up. The sad thing is that otherwise she is a very intelligent lady, a chemist by profession for decades. Also the amusing thing is that she has no children herself.
You know that this was entirely calculated by your aunt. This isn't sheer stupidity BUT a DECLARATION OF LULZ. You can't be that stupid and not be aware of the stupidity. I say she did this entirely as a front to see how shocked you'll get and to see how far she can push the lulz.

Though my uncle also supports Bush. He actually had a mug that showed BUSH on it and every time I look at it I think "The Republicans have got some great brainwashing to have men like my uncle under their spell." But I still believe that it's either part of a huge joke that normal people can't get, or it's some sort of secret cult. My uncle is also pro life DESPITE not wanting children and not having any.

I'm surprised no one from the MSM or McCain's campaign has called Obama "$$$$er" yet publicly. It's bound to happen. You know they're all thinking it.

Just saw this in the Washington Post

Why would someone even bother with this.

I wouldn't understand what "psychiotic (sic)" means either...

But, Obama is not psychotic; his supporters are the ones who exhibit hallucinations, delusions, and highly disorganized thought. Feel free to get in touch with me and I'll pass out some scripts for risperdal or clozaril. If that fails, we could always try high dose insulin or ECT (you provide the car battery, I'll provide the leads).

Don't forget the opposite side of the coin here. While yes, I'm sure there will in fact be some whites supremacists who vote for McCain solely because he's white and they don't want to vote for a black man, you can be damn sure that there are going to be plenty of black people who will blindly vote for Obama just to "support a brotha" without having a f'n clue as to what either candidate stands for one bit. And that's the part that infuriates me. I don't care who people vote for as long as they are making an educated choice. My fear though is all the wasted votes casted by people for either McCain or Obama based solely on race alone. Everyone knows it's going to be taking place. To what extent, I do not know. Hopefully an insignificant amount, but I'm worrying already...

In reply to that I quote an earlier post in this thread from a poster who may be the smartest, most handsome, and sexiest man I have ever met:
I'm sure there are plenty of black people who will vote for Obama because he's black, or vote when they otherwise wouldn't have simply because there's a black candidate, but historically black people have usually voted Democrat anyway, so it's really not surprising if a majority of black people vote for Obama.

What would be interesting is if there was a black Republican candidate and a white Democrat candidate and then black people voted Republican far more than usual.
And I'll add to that the idea that more than likely there will be more people voting against Obama because he's black than there will be voting for him because he's black.

He's as white as he is black really, so to even it out for the rest of this thread and/or the next 10 posts I make about Obama's race I will refer to him as white.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a McCain confidant, told The Post's David Broder that the campaign would "go down in history as stupid if they don't unleash" Palin. Well, the self-identified pit bull has been unleashed -- if not unhinged.
Barack Obama, she told 8,000 fans at a rally here Monday afternoon, "launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist!" This followed her earlier accusation that the Democrat pals around with terrorists. "This is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America," she told the Clearwater crowd. "I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country." The crowd replied with boos.
McCain had said that racially explosive attacks related to Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, are off limits. But Palin told New York Times columnist Bill Kristol in an interview published Monday: "I don't know why that association isn't discussed more."
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
...
The reception had been better in Clearwater, where Palin, speaking to a sea of "Palin Power" and "Sarahcuda" T-shirts, tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground. "One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," she said. ("Boooo!" said the crowd.) "And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,' " she continued. ("Boooo!" the crowd repeated.)
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
Palin also told those gathered that Obama doesn't like American soldiers. "He said that our troops in Afghanistan are just, quote, 'air-raiding villages and killing civilians,' " she said, drawing boos from a crowd that had not been told Obama was actually appealing for more troops in Afghanistan.
"See, John McCain is a different kind of man: He believes in our troops," she said.
At times, Palin hinted at the GOP campaign's troubles. "It's going to be a hard-fought contest, especially in these swing states, some maybe we would not have expected," she admitted to donors. She allowed that "John McCain and I need to do a better job" of talking about the economy.
At other times, she had troubles of her own, as when she spoke over the weekend of "our neighboring country of Afghanistan" or when she got choked up at the Clearwater rally, saying, "Some of your signs just make me wanna cry," without explaining which ones or why.
But then the gloves came off, the heels came out, and Palin was once again talking about her opponent hanging out in a terrorist's living room.

Too bad there is the one drop rule.

Also don't forgot there are plenty of Asians and Latinos that will refuse to vote for a black man as well.
Too bad there is the one drop rule.

That's what I was thinking. I think there is quite possibly more Latinos that are openly racist against blacks in this country than whites.

So it will be interesting since Latinos usually vote very democrat. So I guess it will come down to a choice in the voting booth of voting for a black man if they want more free stuff, criminal leniency, and eventual amnesty for their people.
Racism will only end when everybody hates everybody regardless of race. I'm ahead of the curve in that respect.
I've long thought the same. I figure if you truly dislike all races for every stereotype you know of, then you are truly equal rights.

I think that's just easier, since as much as people try, most people are totally incapable of treating people equally, whether it be for race, economic situation, education level, etc.
Also don't forgot there are plenty of Asians and Latinos that will refuse to vote for a black man as well.
That's true enough, and just strengthens the fact that those not voting for Obama because he's white are going to be more than those who vote for him because of it.

And in response to Thrust - in 2004 the percentage of Latinos voting Democrat was only around 10% higher than those voting Republican (and the same thing for Asians). So they're both much closer than black people in that regard (who went almost 90% Democrat).

I guess only a little over half of the Latinos want free stuff and care about "their people."

Don't forget that Bush trotted out his Hispanic cousin (or whatever he was) and that he was from Texas. Bush (and Rove) really pushed that a Texan would know what's best for Latinos since he's dealt with them his entire political career.

But in a country that isn't really sure if it's illegal immigrant population is 12 million or 20 million, those statistics don't really matter. And yes, many illegal immigrants vote. It's impossible to know how many.

All right, heavy hitter. Your elitist thing against Obama is obvious but didn't McCain attend the Naval Academy and isn't he the son of two Admirals? Isn't that considered elite in most circles?

A Hispanic neighboorhood around here has "Hilary eats babies" graffiti.

Anyway, those were numbers from the exit polls, which have a reasonably high margin of error in the first place. I doubt they'd really discriminate between illegal/legal immigrants and natural-born citizens though, unless the illegal immigrants avoided the exit pollers in much higher numbers than other Latinos.

If you're going to vote you can probably read and speak at least rudimentary English, so I don't think there would be a language barrier either.

In any case I doubt that illegal immigrants vote in large enough proportions to sway an election or vote in significantly different ways from other Latinos (who apparently also want free stuff, to get away with crimes, and all their illegal immigrant buddies to come through the border anyway, so what's the difference between an illegal immigrant Latino and an American-born Latino anyway?).
All right, heavy hitter. Your elitist thing against Obama is obvious but didn't McCain attend the Naval Academy and isn't he the son of two Admirals? Isn't that considered elite in most circles?
He lost his elitism while at the Hanoi Hilton.

Afterwards, no amount of money could restore his elitism.

Plus, McCain sucks like everybody else. Without his fathers propping him up his entire life, he'd be getting laid off in a factory somewhere.

MAVERICK!
He lost his elitism while at the Hanoi Hilton.
Also lost: Table, chair, accountability.

It's not that I don't like McCain. It's just that the elitist thing is a stupid knock. Don't we want leaders that attended the Naval Academy or Harvard? Wouldn't you consider those two institutions elite?

Plus, don't they usually have Spanish ballots in high Hispanic districts? I know for the primaries the example ballot the mailed out came in both languages (I live in an area with a large Hispanic population), but I can't recall if the voting machine had an English/Spanish option at the start.

Yep. We had a long thread on this (the nobel prize one), thoug hit got dreadfully off topic and into a debate over the usefulness of education and science.....

Anyway, yes, this anti-elitism thing is ridiculous. I want the most powerful person in the world to have a top notch education and to be an "elite." If I don't think the president could do a better job than myself, why the fuck should I vote for him?
