Anyone else get Rainbow Six Vegas preordered at Amazon for 40$? Awesome deal, I think it was a mistake because it was only up for like one-day. Weird thing is now I can't find thread on CAG....
 
I got it when it came back in stock, which makes me think that it's not a mistake. But it is very strange to discount a preorder like that. I'm not even sure that I want the game, but I figured I order it to lock in the price.
 
I played this online all day yesterday and its a lot of fun. You guys should have a blast with this when it comes out for the PS3. Are they adding anything new to the PS3 version?

I think I read they are adding a couple more levels and possibly improving graphics. They really haven't said much about it like bathesda did with oblivion.

And of course the release date was just pushed back yet again to April 24th.....

I did two and just noticed I got an email asking me to approve a change in the price from $40 to $60 due to a pricing error.

SURPRISE SURPRISE! IGN has it being pushed back again and not coming out till may 22nd! The longer Ubisoft delays it the less people are going to buy it.
 
great. and if it is anything like ubisofts port of SC:DA, this game will be pretty bad compared to the 360 version. I'll see how it turns out. I wasn't that interested in the game to begin with, and these delays aren't helping.
 
Did anyone get this? I thought they canceled all of the orders (well, actually they asked if it was OK to pay full price, which is the same thing).

My order got flagged however when I called and complained I received a $20 coupon. So it worked out in the end anyway!

Edit: I did not end up re-ordering the game because it kept getting pushed back. My wife is enjoying the $25 Super Paper Mario though ;)
 
I heard about this the other day and went to check it out. Figures a bunch of morons decided to review the game negatively on amazon because they didn't get the price they preordered for. Boo hoo.
 
If anybody is playing this game.

Force it to 720p by unchecking 1080 in the display settings.

The upscaling is crap on it, and is really blurry in 1080.

In 720p it looks perfect.
 
The game will upscale to 1080.
It just won't look as good as it should.
Text, and textures will be slightly blurry.

That's exactly what i re-said. (although I did say slightly blurry, and really blurry)
Some things look worse than others.

CRT will look better yes, but 720p is where it's at.

These were someone's impressions:

Upon loading the game initially, I noticed that the loading screens during the initial caching of data to the HDD were much blurrier than the ones on the 360 version. When the start screen with the panoramic view of the Vegas strip came on, I noticed the text was really blurry and there was a lot of video compression in the sky. After starting a game, I saw that the game looked absolutely horrible to the 360 version, really blurry and washed out looking. I was extremely disappointed at first, because I played the 360 version to death, and many of the early PS3 reviews stated that it looked exactly like the 360 version. After changing TV settings to death with no good results, I eventually quit the game and went to the display settings in the PS3. I was hoping that the game was defaulting to 480p for whatever reason. I endedup just killing the 480p and 1080i options and leaving in 720p as that is my TVs native res. Voila! Now the game looks wonderful, very comparable to the 360 version, if not better.

Yeah, that was my post from earlier today on AVForum.com . After I put it on 720, it looks wonderful. BTW, my display is a 30" Samsung Slim-fit CRT, with a 720 native res. So I guess having one of my posts from another site being quoted here must automatically make me an internet celebrity!

That is actually my post from earlier today on AVSForum.com . My display is a Samsung 30" SlimFit CRT with a 720p native res.

Once gamecrazy gets it in, I'll be playing it. Figures no one preordered the game at that store, so shipping wasn't overnight; as of today, they are still waiting on their shipment.

the game does look blurry... would it look any better if it was running in 720p


you were right... I put it on 720p and it looks a lot better, I made some changes on my tv settings, I then tried it again in 1080i... and oh god... [trying it while typing] its blurry as hell.. oh yeah.. you're right.. keep this game in 720p before it causes me or someone else to go blind.. or think they need glasses. anyway thanks for the tip.

I'd rent it first... at least. But, trust, its not very good at 1080 level.
