Who would win in a fight, Defender or Gord?

JSweeney

CAGiversary!
They both are game store owners and both have websites.
So if these two ended up in a no holds barred street fight, who would win?

What's Gords store?

I wouldn't doubt it.
I think there is a kernel of truth to some of them, but most of them are likely greatly embellished by him so he can make himself look better and to enhance the shock or comedy value of it.

I have actually spoken to the Gord. I wanted to interview him for my magazine a couple years ago and I am a big fan.

Trust me...his stories are true. Most of the stories can easily be part of my life too. But I tend to be more violent than Gord. I believe he is a lot bigger and more intimidating than me. However I am more insane and tend to go off. One time a local GameStop said some bad things about my store to some of its customers while they were trying to find my location. The GameStop is about 2 blocks away. They pointed the customers in the wrong direction and also said my prices suck...which aint true especially compared to a GameStop. Well these customers found us and I totally helped them out and just before leaving they told me what happened at the GameStop. The Customers said they loved my service and prices and thought I should know what the jerks at GameStop said.

This was NOT the first time that GameStop has said some shit about me to customers. One time a manager actually told a customer that I was a thief and that he had me on tape stealing from the store. How liablous and slanderous can you get? Total lie and fabrication on their part. I had my lawyer draw up a nice letter and the manager was fired. Maybe I should have sued though...

Anyways...so I hear this info and I am having a bad day. I get really pissed and decide to walk over there. Its raining really heavy and I just take a quick hike. When I get inside there are about 6 or more employees in the middle of the store and a few customers hanging out. So I start asking who said some shit about my store? They looked like deer in headlights. I start going off and huffing and puffing and telling my story while getting really pissed off. I got my fist clenched and I am all over them...just me..by myself. I ask straight out who the fuck has a problem with me. I look them all in the eye and I must have looked like a raving maniac. I was really ready to give each of them a beat down. So basically I caused a nice scene and went all off and threatened bodily harm to anyone who ever spoke ill of my store again.

Weird ending...so about 15 minutes after I get back the manager comes over. I actually have known this guy for years as hee used to work for an independent like me and he shopped in my store often. He totally said he was sorry and that he talked with the guys and that it was all a misunderstanding. I also said sorry and that it was cool. I felt sort of bad so I sent over a Pizza for the employees about 20 minutes later.

True Story. Good Bad?

Just one of many...I could make a site just as good as Gords and maybe even better.

From what I'm reading, it sounds like Gamers Edge and me may be in Vancouver based on this passage

"Gamer's Edge."

"Yes, I'm stuck in Tomb Raider 2."

"I'm sorry, we don't give advice for games over the phone."

"You have to! It's the law!"

"What?"

"When you sell someone a game, you have to help them with it!"

"Oh really."

"The law says so!"

"If you are so smart, then why are you stuck?"

"You just have to help me."

"Uhm, no. When a car lot sells you a car, do they have to teach you how to drive and how to find your way around Vancouver?"

"uhmm…."

"Exactly."

Unable to locate a gamers edge .com or .ca however

Maybe Defender will tell us?

I know that Gord moved the Asia with his girl and was teaching English. He may have closed his store or sold it...who knows? This was about 2-3 years ago that I spoke with him. I used to email him but he usually took forever to respond...if he even bothered.

As for that GTA fiasco...yeah I know I pissed them off. But they dropped the ball. They told all their customers that they would have it at midnight...I just walked over at 11:45 to see how it was going and I just got mine so I told them I had them...next thing I know its 12:15 and they still didnt open...and it was COLD OUT! So I kept going back and forth selling to customers in line at GameStop. Sure it was fucked up of me. All is fair in love and war though. Funny thing is that they threatened to call the cops and I was like go the fuck ahead. Most the cops at the local precinct know me and the worst they would do was to tell me I cant sell on the street. Normally I was just telling people to walk over 2 blocks and buy it. I sold a ton of them and I know it really pissed them off. It was the one time that I as a small retailer got to screw over GameStop and boy did it feel good. Year after year this company gets deals I can only dream of. So this one time I get a leg up they get pissed? Please ...they can kiss my arse.

It's not my fault they kept customers waiting till about 3am before the truck showed up. That's just crap to make people stand in a cold line in the street for over 3 hours. They even called people at home earlier that day and told them to come out at midnight to get the game. Some people have to work in the morning. There was a lot of cold people out there. I also offered some good deals to people for buying from me.

All in all....a grand day for the small retailer.

JoyStickz.. Dont assume you know me...people like to think they know me because they see me at work or they hear stories. I thank you for buying from me though. You should stop in and introduce yourself...maybe we can be cool? Dont take my usual store persona as the real me...I am actually a nice guy if you get to know me. The problem is that most people want to be my friend so they can get a discount...they basically want to use me yet they offer me nothing in return. Friendship is something I take very seriously and dont call anyone friend easily. Anyways...stop in if you got the balls and say hi. I am curious to know who you are since you do know who I am. It would be nice to put a face on the name.

Well I'd certainly like to see it. You already have videogamedeals.com and videogameauctions.com, so why not something like videogamestories.com?

Yeah, defender, why don't you do it?

Need a reason? Imagine the promotion it'd be for your online store...
