When ordering from a wholesale magazine do u:
Have to prove your a businesss?
Order in bulk?
or any other catches that i might not know. (i only ask cause my friend gave me an xbox wholesale magazine) Thanks.

Wholesale isn't going to get you great prices on games, unless you want a metric ton of old, unpopular games.

Ask defender. He's the best source that this, and likely any other free source could provide.

He should start charging when people ask this question :)

Its really easy to get a tax ID from teh IRS, thats usually proof enough. Although, after you get one, you will hav eto pay taxes.

Proof really isn't a problem, go to your local government office, get a vendor's license for ~$50 (if i remember correclty).. and boom, there's your proof.

However, yes, wholesale on video games sucks, its really not a deal. And usually they're going to require minimum orders/lot sizes.. so you won't be able to get a game or two here and there.

Not to mention that most stores will use Videogames as a loss leader during holiday seasons and such... leading to game prices that are cheaper than what you could pick them up at wholesale anyways.

CAG deals will beat wholesale price almost every time, and usually with less effort.

You usually only need to have a tax ID number that points to some kind of business. Also, you will have to fill out special tax forms and other misc stuff too for your new "business" as well.

It's not really worth the effort unless you are going to buy in bulk and sell.

For example ingram (suppliers of Blockbuster) you need a tax ID. For the first 6 months you get only 3 dollars off retail and you have to pay the shipping. After 6 months and at least 18,000 in sales you get the wholesale distributor rates ~20% off retail. Why do you ask, are you going into a buisness?

My story

I am a licensed wholesaler who pay thousands of dollars evry year for my business license. I don't sell anything eletronic related. But few months ago I though about trying to expand my business to video game.
Therefore I contacted many small and big videogame companies for more then 8 months. I sent them all of my documentaion (copy of businness lincense, 4-10 legitimate business refferences, bank account numbers, somtimes even some advance payment). After I completed their formalities (which took usually 2-4 weeks) I was surprised to hear their pricing. The average price for new nelease games was $48.00 per game. And that is based on minum requirement of at least 5000-10000 games per order. Not to mentions that I had to pay extra hundreads of dollars for the shipping and insurance.
I am a gamer and I wanted to offer my fellow gamers a place where they can buy their new release game without a price tag of $49.99- $59.99.
But I can't do that since the average game would going cost me more then $50.00 to me, even though I buy $10000 games. It was so silly that I neglected the idea of going selling video games. I wasted months of valuable time with these manufactures, and distributors. By the way, I also contacted ingram ( the major supplier of blockbuster). "opportunity77" is right about what he said about the ingram in his posting.

soory for the mistake in my last sentence.
I meant "sying" is right about what he said about the ingram, not the user "opportunity777".

I agree! $48 is ridiculous.
Their price was around 15% to 20% of the retail. But their retail price was $59.99 or higher for the same games which you can easily get for $49.99 dollars (wihtout tax) in stores like best buy or circuitcity.
Their retail price of their games was much higher then normal. So even though they were giving off some % discount of the THEIR RETAIL price, it was not helpful.

Hence why you see people buying games on sale and selling them in their own stores... like that asshat who bought tons of games at TRU during the B2G1 deal.
