I'm sick of waiting for new Chrono Chross/ Trigger. I heard buzz about year and half ago about Squaresoft supposedly working hard on one. Why is it that once Square merged with Enix it just disappeared. All i'm saying is that Trigger/Cross was probably one of the most memorable RPG serious in history, why can't we get another one.

If they do make another one it will have to be on another world, since Lavos was pretty thoroughly cleaned out of the one in CT/CC, which is fine with me, but I'd prefer they bring back Toriyama for the character designs and stick with a lower character count. CC was much less personal an adventure for me because there were so many characters that a lot of them never got used once they joined my party.

edit: grammar edit

oh man i couldn't agree with you more about the characters that was my biggest complaint. I really didn't like playing as linx also sorta pissed me off.

hehe, being implemented the acronym CC, that made your post being funny to me, as CC is acronymed Circuit City.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

i liked Chrono Cross much more than Chrono Trigger, but that could be because i played it first. i just loved the music. i thought CT was a little too kiddy.

the music during the Miguel fight was fuking awesome.

I thought the story of CC in general was the weakest point, with characters being the biggest problem. I loved the rest of the game though, especially the battle system and music. Great stuff that I would try to emulate if I were to make a game...
Of course the music in the Chrono games is awesome - it's Yasunori, what else is to be expected?
Yeah, he's a bright spot in my otherwise painful Xenogears playthrough I'm doing now.

My thoughts as well.

Yeah, i can hardly remember any of the 30+ "other" characters that were not directly related to the plot.
On a side note, every RPG should do what the crono series does and let you replay the game with your level and most of your items in tact. I have wanted to replay so many of my rpgs (most of the final fantasys for example) but i don't have the time to spend 50 hours just leveling up. I want to be able to experience the story again.

I found Xenogears really painful too, until I got Billy on my party. Then it became awesome. People bitched and moaned about the second CD's more rushed feeling, I felt it was a more appropriate pace.

It seems unlikely that a new Chrono game will be released this generation of gaming. Its too bad really, as Chrono Trigger was great, and the only complaint I had about Cross was that there were way to many characters.

Hey, me too. Now that I'm on the second disc I'm having a lot less problem with the game, since it's pretty much playing itself and just letting me fight bosses and watch the story unfold.

There are a few too many battles, but the game is at the top of my list. I love it.

I don't mind the foot battles at all, but the gear ones piss me off to no end, mainly because there's no usable items that restore fuel and HP. Charging takes way too long and the frameHP repair items murder my fuel supply.
that's probably the strategy in it, jmcc.
I don't find there to be any strategy beyond making sure I have the most powerful frame and engine, turning on boosters and aiming for lvl 3 deathblows/infinity mode/system Id. It's not that it's difficult, it's just annoying that every battle amounts to pummelling the enemy as fast as you can and hoping not many of their attacks hit you, lest you have to blow a bunch of fuel repairing your HP. Like I said, though, the game doesn't seem as bad in the second disc as in the first. I'm vastly overpowered so far, so at least the battles are short.

The large number of characters really didn't bother me. I thougt it was actually kind of fun to get them, though i mostly never used them afterwards. The music is remarkable in that series love it. the battle system in both is quite exceptional, really good stuff. I really did not have a problem with either game, based on story or anything like that.

No, I'm quite sure it wasn't Lavos who cleared out CC

He could have been behind it, though.

Naw, I say he was the one behind the CC's pulling back the $5 games

Oh I agree on this topic. I want a new Chrono game more than any other series right now. Chrono Trigger is my 2nd favorite game of all time and Chrono Cross was fantastic too. I was hearing rumors Square Enix canceled a Chrono trademark that was filed, but I'm starting to feel dount that a new Chrono game will come. I'll continue to keep my hopes up high. I'm just glad Square Enix is making a new Mana game, since that's what I wanted the 2nd most after a new Chrono.
