Man o man, I see lots with FM. But I only listen to AM. I heard the Zune was going to have radio built in, so I was a little excited, but it's just FM, just like all the others. I don't have an MP3 player, and while I wouldn't say that the lack of AM has prevented me from buying one, it certainly would motivate me to get one. I think if I found an mp3 player with an AM radio feature (especialy if it could record AM shows while I'm at work) I would probably buy it because MP3s are nice and all but sometimes I need me some Michael Savage.

So does anyone know of such a device? Because I neeeed it.

I came across this problem myself about a year ago when I was in the market for a new MP3 player. I listen to a lot of sports talk on AM. From what I understand they don't want to put AM receivers in MP3 players because that would make them too bulky in a world where slimmer is better. Not saying this is the answer, just what I gathered from a few minutes of research.

How much larger would it make it? Couldn't be that bigger? I too would like one with an AM tuner. Hopefully someday, somebody comes out with one.

Here's one shown on CNet, but it's bulky and low onboard:

Here's the manufacturer website..I think they have expandable memory.

There's also a Sansa player out there that does it, much cheaper and better memory

I agree, some of the best Sports talk shows outside of satellite are on AM. In SEC country, it's the way to go.

thanks skylander, i saw both of those, but the first one has shit memory and is big for how much it has (so maybe it does make them a lot bigger), my cell phone has more capacity. and the second one doesnt actually have AM, its just thrown in there for google so they get hits.

Am reception is hard because of the antenna needed for decent am reception. You pretty much need a external antenna for decent am reception.

Another option is to see how many shows you listen to are available as podcasts. That's more convinient anyway. I mostly just use my iPod for podcasts, and can't say I miss not having a radio at all.

(Too bad the iPod's radio/remote accessory dosen't include AM too.)
