Why Car Mags should not write about Video games

How did FM3 become such a powerhouse? Microsoft's Xbox was a big success before the original Forza Motorsport launched in May 2005. But with automotive-themed games such as Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto grabbing huge chunks of market share, Microsoft knew it had to do something big.

Eh, it is technically automotive themed. It even has a term related to cars as its title.

Pretty much every non-videogame magazine, newspaper, or site that writes about games does this constantly though.

GTA is automotive-themed. It may not be a racing-focused game, but you spend a significant portion of the game driving around in cars. Contextually, the mention doesn't carry enough direct relevance, but the logic of calling GTA automotive-themed isn't necessarily wrong to me.

my favorite non gaming mag doing a game review was the issue of Playboy that reviewed the nonexistant Superman game for the PS1. I don't know why I read that article. It's not why I bought Playboy.

Well Grand Theft Auto IV did have a racing mode online and a little through single player, but its not a racing game.

GTA does indeed have racing, but when you talk about market share, I don't really think GTA series directly competes with games like dirt 2, forza 3, Gran Turismo 5, Need for Speed, Burnout... etc..

They might as well have thrown some halo in there while they were at it, after all you do race a warthog at the end....
