Why did this game get bashed from the critics?

I picked up Kane and Lynch (360), and I was hesitant at first because of all the negative press & reviews it got. I am enjoying this game, much more so then the 6's or so it was given from the critics. Only thing I dislike is the aiming from a long distance, very challenging to hit the bad guys. I never had any intentions of touching this game, I was looking forward to this game when it was released, but all the bashing turned me away. Im glad I decided to give it a chance..

Anybody else enjoy this game?

i had the same feeling until i got 2/3rds through the game, jut got really stale fast and its issues become magnified as you get further into the game.

I beat it in about 7 hours I think. It may have even been faster than that. I did enjoy it a thought it was a pretty fun game and I will eventually go back and get the rest of the achievements. It was just too short of a game in my mind.

I hated this game. It had no redeeming factors. The accuracy of registering hits sucked balls. The developer flat out admitted that that core mechanic of the game was rushed. The environments were extremely bland, the characters were retarded and the game overall felt like it had no life. I would rather play through games like Area 51, History Channel Battle of the Pacific or Timeshift multiple times than try and play K&L again. The Destructiod review of 3/10 is the only decent review out there. Everyone else overscored it.

And I usually am pretty lenient with games. I loved AC, Saints Row, Two Worlds and many others.

It's okay fun in co-op until you hit Havana, IMO. Then it just begins a poorly-made mess with terrible aiming, a fucking script fucking written by a fucking middle fucking school fucker, uninspired levels, and annoying difficulty (OH, COOL, THERE ARE 30000 MILLION BULLETS HITTING ME FROM ALL SIDES OF MY 1/2 SPLIT-SCREEN, MY SCREEN IS SEIZURING RED BECAUSE I'M HURT, AND...OH, MY PARTNER JUST DIED, NOW THE VOLUME IS ALL WACKY.)

I can safely say it's the worst 360 game I own not under the Burger King name.

I'll agree that it's fun until you hit Havana. I don't hate it quite like everyone else, but then again, I won my copy, so I guess I'm a little more lenient.

I agree, its a pretty good game until you get to Havana. Goes straight into the gutter after that.

I really enjoyed it, it had a really fun Michael Mann vibe to it - if you ever wanted to play the Collateral nightclub shootout, or the bank robbery escape in Heat, this game's got it.

The multiplayer was quite interesting too, with the work together/traitor aspect, though typically there's always one jerkoff who thinks he's badass by trying to kill everyone else right at the start, but when you get a good bunch of people in the game its good fun. I saw the game for 9.98 at Target the other day, and for that price you can't go wrong.

Havana was annoying, but I personally love the game otherwise. I'm probably the biggest K&L supporter in the world, because I own it on 2 systems (PC and X360 - yes, I actually bought both, that's how dedicated I am!).

Really though, I thought it was a really fun / good game, had a decent story, admist all the swearing - I just didn't like the ending. I thought it had alot of great mechanics, and was just overall anew experience, unlike most games now-a-days, which is the same crap. This was new, refreshing.

I also did not have a problem with aiming, I don't see why everyone else does - on either version, mind you.

The multiplayer, if people are actually still playing, was also very good. Bank robberies online, with the option to kill your team at anytime to steal their loot, is great - or even, bribing the cops and leaving them some of the loot, just so you don't die. The opportunities are endless really when it comes to how a heist will come out online. You might all work together, or maybe you'll have one turn after another.. heck, you can probably even pull a TDK, except substitute the bus for a van.

I'm not someone who spends too much time on multiplayer, but this game's fragile alliance mode was a blast. It was well thought out and very different from the rest. Loved the diner and the bank maps.

I thought that game was sweet as hell. I had fun the whole way through, only reason why I still dont have it is the messed up online.

Great in theory until you realize at the end of the day the game encourages team killing. While I know this is part of what they were going for it just didnt work with the idiots on XBL. It got so bad that you couldnt even start a match because the one guy would kill everyone right at the beginning.

I haven't really had that problem, maybe once or twice, but all the times I've played (although mind you, it hasn't been in awhile), maybe every few games we'd get someone who did that - and the team worked together and just took him out, and then the rest of the team went on to work together, half of the time, we all, minus that one guy, reached the end without killing each other.

However, then again, if the helicopter or van leaves just two players there, I don't see a reason why not to get double the money on your getaway.

I actually enjoyed this game. My cousin had bought it and we played it in multiplayer at his house. What sucked was the 1/2 split screen is vertical and not horizontal. So you had such a limited view.

I didn't have a problem with Havana. We did die a few times, but we started to strategize a bit more with who goes where and what to do. After that it was a breeze. It was the first 360 game I played (before getting my own system) and I had fun. I kinda wouldn't mind playing it again, but my cousin sold his version.

This game was pretty fun for me until it didn't save after I beat the nightclub level and I had to do it again, which I never did.

It's a good rental or sub-$10 game, and the reason it was received with so many mediocre reviews was because it came out the same month as Call of Duty 4.
