Why do people shave the lettering off their cars?

the nissan altima and maxima look much better debadged, however - people who own altima do it much more often to try to pass off as maxima, and the maxima owners usually keep it to show that they paid an extra 10 gees for it.

what pissed me off was that my white camry se has black lettering and the dealer went and put a shiny chrome lettering right under that black.
OK, I found a pic online of a debadged WRX that kind of looks like mine:

Now here's the back of my car:

So which do you guys like more?
No offense but your's looks like shit compared to the debadged one. That one is clean. WTF is that sticker on yours?

I would keep the Subaru letters, and remove the WRX badge, and whatever that other sticker is on the boot. Stickers/magnets are a bad idea on the surface of your car, not only can the paint fade a little bit around it so when you do remove it you'll see the outline where the sticker was. Also, they can hold moisture and mess up the paint and clearcoat.

A debadged car is a lot easier to wax, so besides a cleaner look, that's another advantage. Badges are pretty easy to remove, I've done it before with just some dental floss.

I actually left a part of my dealer sticker on my car, since it was individual letter stickers. Instead of saying "Twin City Nissan" it now simply says "WIN CITY."

Yes, I am a nerd.
What annoys me more are when dealers put their own lettering on the back of the car.
THIS!!!

What's the best way to get them off? A heatgun?

I saw a Honda Civic a while back (early 90s model in not poor condition, to boot) with a Mercedes-Benz hood ornament (the type that stands up, not stuck onto the hood). What made it better was that it was sitting a little crooked having been applied to the hood with duct tape.
