Why does everyone hate CC, again?
I'm wondering as to why there's a general dislike to Circuit city here.
Because they touch themselves at night.

Because they all want to feel like they are part of something, so they start a " boycott" in which they are giving up anything to try to make a statement. These people are too blinded to realize that Speedy was in the wrong from day one, yet swear up and down making excuses for him because they want to be a part of the boycott. Which does nothing, by the way.

I hate my CC 'cause they have shit for service.

Have you ever been transferred 6 times in one phone call? fucking ridiculous.

And it's not like this was a one time thing either; shit like that happens consistently with them.

Because they have done nothing good for this site, drawing a shitload of lurkers 3 years ago during the '04 $5 clearance, and then the nonsense with Speedy. The awful CC higher-ups mentality is well-documented, they're pretty much a step away from trying to stop "devil customers".

PLUS, they haven't had much in the way of good clearance or a good sale recently. I wouldn't say I'm boycotting CC, I'm just saying I can get the same products for less elsewhere.

I wouldn't put CC at fault for drawing the "shitload of lurkers 3 years ago" since regardless of what retailer a sale like that would of drawn them anyways. And hell.... if it wasn't for that sale... I would of never found CAG myself.

The Speedy situation sucks. I hate to say this however but when someone leaks ads like the way he was... eventually that person's head will be wanted by someone. And if it wasn't going to be CC wanting his head then it would of been Best Buy and/or Target. It was a matter of time.

You come off here almost defending CC, this confuses me... I thought you hated them more than anyone?

???

I think you got me confused with someone else.

And I'm not fully defending CC either. All I am saying is that if it wasn't CC doing it then eventually it might of been Best Buy and/or Target.

because of the Speedy debacle.

I personally hate them because nobody is ever working the registers at any CC I've ever been to. not that I would boycott them.

yeah thats bull shit, yes cc has bad service but so do other places like best buy, which dont get nearly as much hatred around here as CC

OP, its because of the speedy incident.

I think I might, who was it that posted a thread (or in a thread) about how happy they were to be leaving CC?

Yeah, like you would fucking know about my CC.

I've had minor problems with BB/everywhere compared with CC. Speedy has nothing to do with this. Hell, I never looked at this threads anyways.

A) They almost never have more than one cashier going at a time.

B) They fired many of their experienced workers for no reason other than to save a few nickels.

It's not that we don't realize Speedy was in the wrong, it's that we appreciated the cash he saved us by letting us know about some great sales. Not to mention he sorted through all the BS ads, and gathered all the information in a neat, easy to read thread.

Refusing to spend your money at a store is the only way to speak to a business, the bottom line is all that matters. At the end of the day, I care about how much money I have left in my wallet, just like the fat cat running Circuit City/Best Buy/etc.

Everyone was boycotting them until they accidentally had a buy 1 get 1 free on all high def movies. The next time the boycott will be put on hold will be black friday.

Speedy risked it to bring us the ads early, giving up his time for nothing in return. He's awesome.

And I didn't like Circuit Shitty before the Speedy thing anyways. Their service sucks.
i think bb hires more easier looking girls, maybe thats just in my hood though
BB hires way hotter bitches than CC. All the girls at my local CC are either pale or obese.

Either way, all the retailers up here suck. There's only a BB, CC, TRU, Walmart and EBstop and this is pretty much a piece of shit state so you really can't expect much. The CC is probably the worst though. The new releases hit shelves a week late, management gives me a hell of a hard time about honoring prices, they refuse to pricematch anything that's not on a printed circular, the associates are all really annoying and cannot understand 'No, I do not need any help, thanks." etc.

TRU used to be the best but now Walmart is. CC has remained ass consistenly, only superior to EBStop.

Lol, I bet all these people boycotting CC still shops there, freakin hypocrites.

I don't usually boycott any stores, but I do hate CC. I only boycott a store because of something crummy they did to me. For instance, I didn't go to BB for about 6 years because they fucked me over on my warranty, even though, it should have been covered by the extended warranty I purchased from them. I never buy electronic devices from there.

I hate my CC because they don't stock anything worth buying there.

I also hate my local BB for the same reason. My BB has no front row games and only lower prices when its universal. Every fucking stupid soccer mom shopping there pays full price, which means they have no incentive to cut prices.

I am mostly looking for online deals these days because many of the retailers near me always keep items at full price or stock very few on sale items (usually 2 at most, sometimes none), which means someone always gets to them first and leaves nothing.

The speedy thing is important, but it's not the main reason I dislike shopping there.

Primarily, it has to do with sales that CC prints, then won't honor. The recent sale on XBLA points comes to mind here. Day one of the sale, with printed ad in hand, and they wouldn't honor what is printed.

I've been in there multiple times, often to find no one to ring me up, or to find a bunch of associates just standing around talking to each other. The customer service is severely lacking.

I also will never understand why CC has registers near the front of the store, yet you never see anyone on them. I went in there a few weeks ago during the BR/HD fiasco, and there were 7 people standing in line at customer service to be checked out. Not a single cashier in sight.

Best post.

Ha, ain't that the truth. Luckily at mine there is usually somebody at the customer service desk to check you out. But it really sucks if you happen to be behind somebody making a lengthy return. Hello, do you want to take my money in exchange for your products or not?

I almost always have to use the customer service desk to checkout. Sometimes, nobody is there either.

There are registers littered all around the CC, and usually they won't serve me at those because the employees are too busy loitering on the job. Even if I find someone not playing pocket pool or pet the beaver around one of the sectional cash registers, the person tries to send me to the front -- but there's nobody there! They have way too many people working there doing nothing. The only people who are willing to help you (probably for a big commission) are the people working the TV and car stereo sections. Everyone else is doing a circle jerk around the store and being completely useless. Usually, four or five of them get together and just talk about stuff. I've had to break up these little groups at times to checkout at the store because nobody is working at any of the registers.

why does everyone defend the speedy thing. CC never made any indication they wanted him to stop posting the ads until they sent the lawyers which is stupid in my book.

I never shopped there before that anyway unless there was a big time sale and I couldn't get a price match because I have never been able to find anything I want, having now lived in 3 different areas with 3 CCs they are all a mess. Half the time I have an employee look up in the computer if a dvd or game is in stock it shows it is, but still nobody can find it. This is of course after 15 mins of trying to get said employees attention because he/she is too busy flirting with a co-worker who also won't help me.

O and this is because they fired all of the employees who were decent because they had been around a while and got raises for being good employees.

I don't boycot them necessarily, but I only go there if I have a really good reason, which is maybe once a year.

I don't care too much for Circuit City for a variety of reasons (some purely superficial, others not as much):

- Piss poor customer service/employee behavior: the one time I needed help the person helping me knew much less than I did, it's also quite common to see employees either standing around ignoring people or shouting things to fellow employees on the other side of the store.

- The two locations I have near me often will not have DVDs or CDs available on release date; many a time I've gone there on an album's launch date only to be told by an employee that never got their inventory in or it's still being processed in the back. Considering how I can drive a mile further down the street to either Target or Best Buy and get what I'm looking for I find that inexcusable.

- Inventory: in general, the two stores I have near me have very limited inventory in terms of music, movies, games, even theater systems. Oh, but they each have 800 copies of Knocked Up. Go figure.

- Store appearance: the two stores near me seem pretty run-down compared to other stores I've visited before.

- The Speedy incident certainly doesn't help manners much in my eyes.

Although, I do need to support them somewhat, they came through and hired my brother when he lost his position at another retailer. He says he enjoys working there as well.

I supported Speedy not as a boycott thing (which do work from time to time)...but as a supprt for him.....CC has even worse customer service than BB......besides...as Cheapy pointed out their lawsuit was massively flawed..mainly their pricematch...he posted the ad early...anyone who bought within 30 days of the price match could get the extra $ refunded. No one seems to complain when the holy black Friday ads get leaked....but now Speedy was in the wrong from the begining (as most of us have used his ads to plan shopping)....

Actually there's a thread floating around here about how Walmart has pre-emptively threatened lawsuits for anyone that leaks black friday ads so I wouldn't say no one minds Black Friday ads being posted early.

If the last couple of years have been any indication, Wal-Mart is likely doing that to prevent people from discovering how shitty their sale is until the last possible moment.

their game section is somewhat lacking, but i gotta say cc has been my favorite place lately. i've used the $20 off $20 employee coupon about 8 times now...I had to convince managers to put it through several times, but haven't been denied once. I've also been to a different cc nearly every time ;)
the 40/200 coupons aren't too bad either.
If the last couple of years have been any indication, Wal-Mart is likely doing that to prevent people from discovering how shitty their sale is until the last possible moment.
Not having a shitty sale would be a great start for Walmart for sure.

They never have anyone at a register, when they have 15 people in line they'll finally open up 2 registers, the managers are dicks, the employees are incompetent, they sell open box items at 10% off when they're missing 50% of the contents and they never live up to their 24/$24 deal. Needless to say, when they have a great deal, I try to get in on it. That's the heart of this site, and regardless of Speedy's situation (which really just publicized CC's bad image on CAG), if they have something worthwhile, I'll go get my worth. If I have to buy something MSRP, Target is always my preferred store.

It's not a boycott- it's a universal contempt.

Its their bullshit that keeps me away. If its not shitty service, shady tactics on why they wont honor a price, or telling me that a game that wasnt in by 2pm was in fact in but they just sold out so they dont have to give up the gift card... cc can suck mah bawls.
