**Exclusive**

Is America ready for Ms. President!?!

The new fall schedule will not be announced until later this month, but the DRUDGE REPORT has learned that ABC has picked up COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, a drama following the challenges facing the first female President of the United States.

ABC suits are are prepared to give the project a timeslot and series commitment, sources said.

Actress Geena Davis, a Democrat political activist, will play the president.

ABC executives "adored" the two-hour pilot of CHIEF.

"It's not in your face, preaching politics," a network source explained. "Not that we will shy away from controversy, but do not look for, say, abortion to be in the opening episodes."

A Hillary Clinton walk-on?

"I am not going to go there," laughed the insider.

Developing...

So what do you guys think? If it's done right, it should be an interesting show.. any thoughts?

I'm interested to see if they manage to distinguish the show from the West Wing in ways besides their choice of having an attractive woman as president.

not unless they give the first female president an army of kick ass ninjas. i've never been one for political dramas.

I'll be excited. Is she going to be married? I want to see someone called the "First Man".

While I'm all for watching Geena Davis do just about anything, I don't think I'll be watching this. An interesting concept, to be sure, but I'm just not big on political dramas.

I saw this a bit earlier on Drudge ... not really what I'd consider important news, though.

Anyway, I guess it's an interesting idea, but I don't see how they can keep the theme of it going for very long. Sounds like it could easily turn into something straight from Lifetime.

I'm glad to know that we live in a society where people feel controversial enough toying with the fantasy of having women in positions of power.

myke.

i think instead of geena davis playing some character who is the president, it should be what if geena davis was the president. She could wield a composite bow and just shoot wormy politicans every now and then- nothing serious, just maybe pin their jackets to a wall.

I'nm willing to suspend disbelief for a TV show but how is she going to find time to be the president when she has to cook dinner, raise the kids and and clean the house all day? I just don't think it's possible...

We will see how comfortable America is with a female as president. This is funny because they have just made the President so diverse on TV lately.

First point, Dennis Haysbert being the first black President on TV on 24.

Second point, Jimmy Smits being able to become the first latin President on TV in the West Wing.

Third Point, now we will have our first female President with this show.

Too bad real life doesn't play out like this because we really need some diversity in who gets to run our country because we have so many backgrounds but everytime you see our real President it ends up being some funny looking white dude.

Who said this was important news?

I was under the impression that this was the very definition of the Drudge Report.

I dont know why this was on the Drudge Report (Its not news) but for a TV show, its an interesting concept. There are a lot of senators and government workers that would make great antagonists to Geena Davis's character - Paticularly if she was pro-choice.

I think this is a great idea for a TV show.
was she the chick in a league of there own?
Yes, her name was Dottie Hinson in the movie. Cool movie btw

All i hope is that she doesnt think she is actually the president after a couple of seasons, and run around hollywood, with her political ideas...unlike some...people

well it said she was a democrat activist...So I bet she goes acting like a president before the show gets canned. Even if it is a good show, for some reason people are very interested in reality shows.

This shows how liberal ABC is. They are trying to put the idea in peoples minds that a female democrat president is a good thing. They will probably make her look perfect in the series, and thats why they are stearing away from topics such as abortion. They are trying to pave the path for Hilary.

Fox is owned by a Republican and 24 had a Black President, does that mean Murdoch wanted Alan Keyes to be president?
