Why have there been no crazy pre-order deals?

I remember at this point last summer everybody was going crazy for those big Liongames pre-orders. All of the big upcoming releases were offered at a low price way in advance not just by them, but in other places, like DeepDiscount, too.

Why haven't we seen any more of those crazy deals?

Liongames was just an introductory type thing, and I believe he was actually losing money, so that's why you don't see that type of thing from him anymore.
