Now with the PSP Go focusing on digital downloads, meaning that more and more games from the PSN (also with remote plays). It's natural to think about trophies for your PSN gamer tag...

I believe you'll need to setup the PSN account on the PSP to download and play the games purchased from PSN. So, why not give us trophies for games played on the PSP? I mean, you can get trophies playing PSN games for the PS3 games via remote play, so it makes sense to give us trophies for the PSP games as well. Maybe a PSP game don't deserve a platinum, but definitely Gold, Silver and Bronze.

I'll say, it's time to add trophy supports to the PSP game library, at least the new games! I mean think about it, it's weird to play LBP for the PSP w/o trophies...

It is a pain to get PSP online :(

Especially when Ad-Hoc Party is not implemented yet, so basically anything that involves online co-op will be impossible to do.

Plus too many people will be modding PSP Go etc, it will be too hard to regulate for all the producers imo.

Well, come to think of it... Trophy support can, in a way, discourage piracy on the PSP. Think about it, if a game have update and you're running CFW, your trophies are kinda in a limbo state (or you can't earn them).

I'm not talking about getting the PSP to go on-line on the go (places where there's no WiFi, free or fee). I'm talking about trophies earned while signed in as your PSN id to play the PSP games (not actually on-line, just the user). So, at the end of the day or when you're home, you can synch the PSP trophies via PSN... Then you can synch it on the PS3 too. Now, comparing trophies can be a tricky business, since the PSP trophies are not saved on the PS3, so there could be problems. However, the PS3 can simply display the "unknown" trophies as PSP related (you won't be able to expand the PSP titles, just the total number of trophies).

On the contrary, if you're on PSN with the PSP, you can compare PSP trophies. The PS3 trophies will be listed as "other" and can't be expanded (i.e. no individual titles, just the total number).

Not really. The whole point of having CFW is to not get any updates from Playstation Network Directly. As long as the system itself is not connected to internet, there is no way to detect CFW (unless it is within the game itself and forces the system to update, but this is very unlikely), and even if there is a way to detect there is nothing they can do.

Implementing trophy support would not discourge piracy, because you can still collect trophy offline, and then updated to PSN at a preferred time, which will not affect the player's CFW in anyway. However, neither of this actually affect PSP's trophy support since everything will be digital distribution anyways.

My best guess is that in order for Sony to implement trophy support, it will require a huge update for PSP + PSN, which they dont have any plan for at this moment. They have better things to deal with at this moment. Maybe in the future (next E3) there will be an announcement for achievements / trophies support. I really hope they implement Ad-Hoc Party ASAP for PS3 users, or find an alternative way, which is easier and faster, to play PSP online.

I think the biggest thing Sony is working on is game sharing. If everything become digital distribution, they would want to put a stop to game sharing.
