There's been no reason given, and no one can think of anything that may have motivated a mod to delete it, other than them feeling the urge to wave their dick around.
I don't know how we can be expected to follow "rules" when they're arbitrary and depend on the mood of a few certain mods.
This isn't the first time this has happened either. Can we get a valid explanation, and if there isn't one, the old OTT back?
And while we're at it, how about some accountability for our moderation staff?
yep.
I agree completely.
It almost seems like there are certain mods who have a vendetta out for some people, and thus, these things happen. Also like what you said: Depends on their mood.
If something was done that was considerably wrong and deleted, I am totally ok with that. I just think when someone asks, they should be given a reason as to why.
I commented about how the "moderation" on CAG is really out of control, and if anything, this proves it. Mods don't enforce the rules any more, they just enforce their whims and moods.
I asked in my last thread how we can be expected to follow the rules and avoid deleted OTTs without feed back. The answer is, we can't. Furthermore, since no mod stepped up and explained, I can't help but think that the OTT was really deleted for no reason at all. There wouldn't be any reason to keep us in the dark if there was a valid explanation.
So, can we get one, or is this bullshit going to continue?

Is this an OTT or should I stay on topic? I don't know if this is a clever thread title that integrates the word "OTT" in it or not.
Regardless of the current OTT situation, I have to agree that certain moderators have personal vendettas against particular users, and this should really be stopped.

I've got too much going on in my life right now to get into whatever recently happened. If it was of serious importance, and could cause actual damage to the community or the site, I'd probably discuss it with who ever was involved. Neither the community nor the site is in jeopardy at the moment, so forgive me for speaking completely unofficially. Understand I speak for NO one but myself.
You guys go through this over and over. The truth of the matter is, there are members and moderators who need to chill out.
Some of y'all need to sit back and realize that if your posts disappear for some reason, the world is not being deprived of some amazing contribution to mankind. Sorry, I know that hurts the ego, but it's the truth. If you have something you feel the world needs to hear, speak to a publication company.
But this? It's a very loose and informal gaming community. We're here because we like teh cheap games. As long as I've been gaming, and as much as I like games, I do appreciate the fact that they're not all that important as the earth continues to revolve on its axis.
At the same time, some of us on the mod side could stand to relax a bit as well. Life is tough enough. Helping out around here shouldn't be adding to our personal strife. There are obvious black and white rules which we're asked to enforce. When there are grey areas, we ought do our best to keep Cheapys site running smoothly and use experience guided by wisdom.
But ultimately, it's his site and we need to work as a team. If we as mods can't come to a consensus, we take it to D and let him make the call. If he's got nothing definitive to say on the matter, then why should any of us be making our days harder?
Nothing monumental. Our off-topic topics are a magnet for oddities. Posters, posts, and zvarri! before your eyes, disappearing posts and entire threads.

But, when something happens and someone just asks about it..why does it get ignored?
How can people know what they did was wrong if they never even have the courtesy to tell you what exactly it was that was offensive.
This truly is no more then personal attacks from some mods. It's childish. I totally understand people really cross the line sometimes, but, if they really don't know what it was that was wrong..THAT Mod should say "Well, ya see it was because ____". But then, it gets even gayer when people say "What happened to my post/thread?" and the mods IGNORE the question even came up! They even act ridiculous and kinda childish like "I DIDN'T DELETE IT.. N IM NOT SAYING WHO LOLOL"
I know this site of full of some assholes, but I really don't think anyone (in general, not just OTT related) does anything that bad. Again: It's personal vendettas.
I told you, I was speaking for no one but myself. So I can't answer that.
When I give an infraction or go into a thread and clean it up, you guys know I always am up front about what's going on. In the case of personal infractions, I'm willing to talk and often I'll reverse them if I believe it's warranted. When I go cleaning crap up, I'll leave a note or even a couple notes as to what I've been doing, why and what's going to happen if the offending posts dont stop at that point.
I also mentioned I wasn't going into the issue in question, because right now, I have no desire to get directly involved in it, and back-seat moderating isn't my style. If I'm guessing correctly, it would seem to be an issue y'all have had over and over, and my words have had little to no effect on the matter on both sides. There are times when I'm up to the task of banging my head against a wall; this is not one of those times.
How can people know what they did was wrong if they never even have the courtesy to tell you what exactly it was that was offensive.
I can only surmise that it may be one of those instances we all have where you sit there with your arms crossed and "you know what you did!" repeats in your head. Sometimes the person has no clue. Sometimes they do, but they play a little game of putting you on defense by making you say what they did wrong while they feign ignorance.
With the never ending troupe of foster kids next door, I see a lot when I'm outside walking, gardening or playing with them. One pattern I've observed frequently is one kid picking on another when they think no one is noticing. When they finally are yelled at, their reflex reaction is, "what did I do?!" as if pretending they didn't know what they did wrong is surely proof of their innocence in the matter.
So while its entirely possible an OTT was deleted for a reason a mod feels was blatantly obvious, it's also possible that one or more OTTers know exactly what they posted was the cause of the deletion, and they too are remaining silent for their own reasons.
This truly is no more then personal attacks from some mods.
Personal attacks shouldn't be happening on the boards from anyone. There's no reason for it, and it gets nothing accomplished.
But then, it gets even gayer when people say "What happened to my post/thread?" and the mods IGNORE the question even came up! They even act ridiculous and kinda childish like "I DIDN'T DELETE IT.. N IM NOT SAYING WHO LOLOL"
This forum should be where you get the answers to these issues. If you get no satisfaction on an issue from the mods in question, you are always free to email Cheapy.
I know this site of full of some assholes, but I really don't think anyone (in general, not just OTT related) does anything that bad. Again: It's personal vendettas.
Not knowing the issue, I couldn't comment. But I will say that having personal vendettas on a flippin' gamers forum is ridiculous. Aren't there more important things in life to put that energy into?
Personal attacks shouldn't be happening on the boards from anyone, unless you add dashes to their name so they cant come back and call you out on it. There's no reason for it, and it gets nothing accomplished.
Fixed for ya.
This reminds of a time Shrike gave me an infraction for personally attacking some one who was currently already attacking me. He must have been to busy thinking up one of his always clever remarks beacuse he failed to realize that I copied and pasted the insult that the other user had said 3 post above me.
I was latter told that I crossed the line, which seemed odd since I couldnt have possibly crossed the line any further than this other user. I guess its true...you see what you want to see.
