Well after I got my Wii replacement in they sent a small note along with it.
The usual stuff about how you shouldnt poke someone's eye out with the Wiimote, dip it in hot acid, or drag it on a leash was written on there. And an extra little ditty was on the back.

"When not playing Wii, ALWAYS take out the game disc"

How many people actually do this. And when you eject a GameCube disc.... do you eject it, and then turn off the system? Or do you reset and eject it.

Curious.

I wonder what the reasoning is for that.
I have noticed that the wii generates heat anyway, so if I boot it up then take out a disk, it's a little warm. (I do run WiiConnect).
Anyway, I don't. I usually leave the game in because odds are better than even I'll play it again next session.
With GC games I eject it then turn off the Wii from the console itself.
I need to call nintendo, I'm getting that heat flash, though it's intermittent and doesn't really distract from the game.

With all my systems I try to remove the disc after playing. If I'm going to play the same game the next day though, I leave it in.

Well pretty much super smash bros melee has meen in my Wii since January and hasn't been taken out since there is nothing to pla. But it seems to work fine still :)

I've always left whatever I'm currently playing in all my consoles from the original NES up through all the disc based ones.

Never hard a problem, and can't see what it matters. Also leave cds in stereos, car stereos etc. and never had a problem.

as long as you don't move the console, knock it over, or jiggle it around, I can't see how leaving the disc in would hurt anything.

I have the stand-by mode turned off so I don't worry about heat. But I leave my game discs in there always.
Someone has emailed Nintendo about this, and they said it was fine to leave the disc in.

So you can rest easy now, haha.
I know I always rest easy after I get confirmation from 'someone'. ;)

I tend to leave the discs in, unless I'm going back and forth between multiple games and I don't know what I'll be playing next.

I'm guessing the warning was just a precaution. If you had one of the Wiis that warped the casing due to the heat, I'm sure that would wreak havoc on a disc inside it over time as well.

Yeah. Like I said before, everyone seems to know "that guy". :p

What i'm thinking is that there might be some concern when going from VC games to the menu, from shop to the menu, etc ec. Whenever you do that the Wii clicks and reads the disc. I would assume if it did that a good # of times it could wear it out a bit.

Just to be safe now i've been taking them out.

I've always left my discs in for any console...and never had any problems with any console...so actually, I think its better for the system if you LEAVE the discs in :p
