Wii Likely to Ship with Free Game

I still think it's likely that the system will come with Wii Sports in the US though... Something like that has pretty much universal appeal so it's pretty much the perfect game to showcase what the Wii can do... it's realistic for it to be bundled.
It's confirmed. In Australia. And at Toys R Us only. It's hardly a confirmation, just a store bundle.
Indeed... that doesn't mean anything for the rest of us though it's very likely.

Everyone at CAG seems to think Wiisports would be a great game to bundle with the system, and I'm sure Reggie knows that.

I wouldn't mind having Wii sports bundled but I'm not paying extra for it. I'd rather pay 200 for a Wii without Wii sports than 250 for one that comes with it.

I'm hopin they throw in a game (such as Wii Sports) and also a couple VC DL's, maybe one at each price point (whatever those end up as). At the same time, I hope they don't do the free VC stuff....cuz then I'll be adicted and will prolly end up DLing games I already own, just so I don't need to mess with dragging out my old systems or emulators.

What nintendo is probably going to do is give us a free mario bros/duck hunt download because it was packed with the original nintendo, lol. I think wiisports should be packaged with the wii though because well I think nintendo knows that wiisports wont sell on it's own without a cheap pricetag.

I agree with that.

This better not be a way to gouge extra money out of us, Nintendo, we're already paying for more than the cost of a system at $200, plus games.

But at $200 with the game, it's a steal.

It's a thin line.

I agree also. Probably cause its not really a decision you can. Like prefering another game.
Sort of feel bad for the xbox + forza bundle.

I'm hoping there's one wii console for $400 with full Wii-mote support and the sensor bar and one "core" console with the control deck only without any controllers, games or motherboards for $200.

YEAH. dont you hate when you get extra motherboards? like wtf? i didn't pay for an extra motherboard, nintendo, take your crappy unsoldered hardware back...and i agree, nintendo should jack up the price to 400. damn these cheapskates, thinkin they can get controllers for FREE? whats with ppl these days and their free goodies? sheesh.

They are better off including in the traditional controller (VC controller) and a free downloadable game instead. You give them the proper hardware to play VC games and also an option for those that prefer the traditional controller instead. If the unique controller idea crashes and burns they at least have something to fall back on for 3rd party games.

An extra $50-$100 for a console and extra $10 for games seem to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people. I don't see how needing to buy a controller is going to make VC games appealing. And why port over a game when you don't know if every person has a regular controller. Playing some games made for a regular controller with the unique controller may be awkward or uncomfortable.

I hope it comes with Wii Sports because I want this game anyway's. I usually don't buy sports games because there are new ones every year and nothing new is hardly ever added except for the roster. But with the Wii I find myself wanting every sports game because they will be so fun with the Wiimote.

I wouldn't mind it if Nintendo released a couple of different SKUs for Wii. It'd be more like the old NES Action Set/Deluxe Set/Control Deck than the new X360/PS3 shit, because the cheaper version wouldn't be basically crippled compared to the more expensive version. That way you'd have the uber fun package with 2 controllers, Wii Sports, VC controller, maybe a VC download or rechargeable battery for like $250, and you'd also have the "impulse buy" package with just one controller for $150 or whatever insanely low price. And no one would be screwed because they didn't get a hard drive or Bluray HD thing they needed because they bought the cheap version.

If the $199 bundle is the Wii, 2 controllers, necessary cables, and Wii Sports, I'm sold at launch.

If the bundle includes less goodies at that price (or higher), I will most likely wait for sales, coupons, etc and then make the purchase.

I like the idea of doing the 2600/NES thing and bundling the console with a multi-game pack. I realize it's not done now, but I think it's a good way of introducing the system to new users: my family played the 4-in-1 cart for the 2600 as much as they did any other, and though only me and a few siblings were big into SMB, everybody dug Duck Hunt.

I just hope they price it fairly. I don't begrudge Nintendo for selling me a tricked-out GC with a new interface, but I could become cranky if they try to goose me too much on the MSRP.

Why would the motion sensing controller fail? And if it did, there's no way they're going to just give up on it and make you use the modified SNES pad, no way whatsoever. This system is all out or not at all, if it fails it's because gamers don't care for innovation. Bottom line. If it succeeds it's because gamers want change, they welcome it and there are great games to play with.

That said I hope that they include a game as well, maybe built in. I don't know if it's too much to include something that doesn't really require too much space since it's probably not going to be a full-fledged game, with seasons or anything fancy like that.

Everyone wants the retro controller, 2 remotes, and free downloads, all for under $250. You've got to be kidding me? I'm sure those remotes won't be cheap by themselves, $40 with the nunchuk attachment would be a solid price. I'm not sure, but I would imagine that you could use the Wii remote for the Virtual Console at least for NES and Sega Master System games.

Well I know Nintendo won't give up on it, but maybe some 3rd party companies will. Once the masses can actually buy one companies will see what their reaction is. Same as the price of the PS3, the remote could backfire. By not having a traditional controller bundled with it they are risking a lot of companies simply not porting a game over.

People on here want Wii Sports more because they will have a 360 or PS3 or gaming PC to fall back on. There are people who only own a Gamecube but being 3rd place AND quite a few people having another console as well with it shows they want the unique games and 3rd party support doesn't matter. For the large number of people like me who buy one console the Wii, like the Gamecube, isn't the best choice.

Is Nintendo really wanting to be a second console of choice? If that's true and all these people are complaining about the PS3 pricing then how do they expect people to afford a Wii as a second console? Why not offer BOTH the unique remote and a traditional controller, best of both worlds. By choosing not to have a traditional controller to me means they aren't going all out for 3rd party games.
