Wii Play going to be rare?
I picked up the last two copies at Fry's
I went in to Fry's (for other reasons, already got my Wii Play) but I was curious - it was like they never existed there. I didn't ask about them, but they certainly weren't anywhere to be seen and this was at 3pm. While I think there was a large initial supply and anyone who really wanted one (and knew about it) could snag one, I think they will run out soon and probably not be replenished for a bit. So they will be "rare" for a couple weeks, anyway. But certainly not in the long run.

Brevity - I had exactly the same reaction. My biggest surprise was that I thought it would be 4-player. I guess it kind of makes sense - it is supposed to provide you with your second remote and thus has a bunch of 2-player games. But it would have been nice as 4-player - imagine the duck hunt game in 4-player with the 4 different Mii targets popping up! Since I got my third (and probably fourth if I pawn off my second copy of Wii Play) remotes from it that is a bit disappointing. What really, at this point, is truly 4-player simultaneous play? Just Wii Sports Tennis, right? I'm assuming Mario Party 8 will rectify this though ;).

got mine at best buy this afternoon... no shortage. i didn't actually count the number of copies left, but it was more than enough to go around. most of the boxes were crushed and/or ripped to shit, though.

and screw all the haters... i'm gonna have a blast playing this with the wife.

I got the last one (at least the last one on the shelf) and my Best Buy in St. Pete, FL. tonight. I was surprised to see the shelves empty.

My sons *were* having a blast playing this tonight until the older one restarted it in single-player (because the younger one kept dying in the tank battle game) and then the younger one went over and smacked him in the knee with the Wiimote . Game over, remotes taken away, no Wii for a few days ;).

The point being, though, for the doubters out there, that it is a fun experience for the price!

Awww! Where's the part where you beat THEM with the Wiimote?!?!
Bad parent! Bad, bad parent! ::sends you to YOUR room, no Wii until the weekend::

Well... We'll have none of that. But it is an interesting feature of the Wiimote that kids get used to swinging it like crazy (e.g., fighting in Zelda, or in Ice Age 2 which they were playing earlier) and thus it was just natural when the young one got frustrated with his older brother and wanted to beat on him in real life that he used the remote for it. This never happened with Wavebirds . Oh noes - looks like Nintendo needs to add another warning to the start of all games!

lmao

WARNING: The Wii Remote is not to be used as a weapon or as a disciplinary tool. Please contact Nintendo with any questions regarding this.

My kids loved it too. Its funny that in the tank battle you can shoot your opponent right off in a few of the games. I didnt even notice it while I was playing they did it to each other.

I like that at the picking games screen you can poke your Mii's and they do stuff. Like wave, stand on one leg, thumbs up, ect. They went to bed 30m late becuase we just couldnt stop playing.

Also this is our first Wii-mote outside of the one that came with it. We had a blast playing Tennis and stuff to now that we have two of them.

Well, I have 2 thoughts on this.

I for one don't like it very much, but I wanted another remote so I don't really care that I don't like it.

On the other hand, I have 2 young kids, who in a couple years I know will want to play video games. They will love it. Overall it is kind of a win win situation. I get a remote, plus a cheap game for them to play down the line.

I got me a copy yesterday at BB and they still had a few left. I haven't had a chance to play it but at least I can rest easier now that I have it.

There were still plenty of copies left at my Walmart after I picked it up last night. Overall, I think the games are mediocre at best, and definitely pale in comparison to Wii Sports. I was looking forward to air hockey, but was disappointed to see it's just laser pong... I must say, though, I am crazy about Billiards. I can see that being the only one I consistently replay. It's just about perfect, IMO, even though it's lacking different game types. Plus, it's the only wii game so far that my girlfriend has gotten excited about playing, which is a huge plus in my book...

If anyone has gotten this just for the remote or has played it and not really digging it, send me a PM. I'd like to pick up the game sans remote.
Anyone buying the game for just the remote? I already have 4 remotes and don't want to pay $50 for the game and have to deal with selling off the remote. So, anyone willing to sell a copy of just the game for $10 shipped?
I broke down and bought the full package, so now if anyone just wants the remote, it's in my trade list for $40 shipped.

nevermind, found it on page 4
Yes, it comes in its own shrinkwrapped DVD case which is inside the larger box with the wiimote.
Picked it up today at Target. Had plenty of copies in the display shelf and the clerk said he had a lot more in a box behind the register.
The one thing that dissapoints me about this game is that there doesn't appear to be hidden depth like there is in Wii Sports.
The only replayability factor, in single-player, anyway, is trying to get gold medals in all 9 games. I was only able to get one on my first attempt (duck hunt). I got another on a second try (cow racing). All the others I got bronze or silver. In particular, it looks like it will be hard to get gold on the find-a-Mii, the Mii pose, and the ping-pong rally games (based on the fact that I thought I got pretty damn far in all 3 and only got Bronze). I spent 2 hours last night just trying to do this. So there's probably 3-5 hours of play in the "challenge" of getting gold medals. They could have done more with this, but at least there is something there (and unlike Wii Sports, it shows you your medals in the game selection menu for your Mii character).

you can also get platinum... not just gold

wonder if someone is going to start a wii play high score board like they did with wii sports, my 63 in billiards was beastly

Whaaaa??? Well, then, that adds hours to the gameplay .
I hd no idea. And here I was thinking I could rack up all the golds and then declare that I "beat" Wii Play in my pathetic completed games list. But now I have to get platinums, damn you. I was better off not knowing ;).

I don't see how I could do much better in the cow race - I went full speed and hit everything except for maybe ONE of the bouncing guys. I'm guessing you need to be pretty much perfect to get platinum. Same with duck hunt, though I know I missed a few more things there.

Anyone interested in splitting the cost on this? I want Wii Play but don't really need another remote. Or if anyone gets tired of Wii Play quick let me know, I'll buy it.

Ya i thought i should have had platinum on my cow race too. Got a 321. So far only platinum is in billiards.

My son loved wii play and he really liked the tank game. I think it was worth it. He was also happy to get a 3rd controller. Too bad there is no 3 player game in wii play but we can use it for some other games I guess. The other games were fun also. Mickey

I am hooked on the damn tank thing for sure. Dropped probably 2-3 hours in total last night. You know they could release a more fleshed out version of that and I would buy it in a minute.

Though I am not a fan of this game, one thing I will say about it is, I LOVE the graphics in the fishing game. Here's to Nintendo doing a whole game in that type of graphics.

I believe its called Paper Mario.

That fishing game is great. My roommate and I were screaming at each other when the Mystery Fish showed up. Good competition in this game. I think it's a little better then all the reviews state.

Two player may be where the gold lies within this title.

Definately, I have yet to play this by myself but against my roommates the game holds up.

Hey everybody, long time lurker, short time poster.

I just bought me a Wii with this game yesterday. So far this game is a blast with two player, specifically target practice, tanks, charge and fishing. the other games are mediocre at best, this is a great game for a tenner.

BTW, im utterly amazed that the walmart i bought it at has had 12 wii's for the past 2 days, then again, its in the middle of a "urban" community that only care about madden/halo.

Welcome. I am sure once you pop wii sports in you will also be hooked.

I take it the Wii Play is Co op games correct? Not turn taking?

so very correct. which makes them a blast.

and wii sports i was already hooked to, my roommate from last semester got a wii on release night and it had me hooked instantly.

i just stumbled upon a wii yesterday, so i figured "what the hell" lol.

I'm glad people are for the most part enjoying this. I remember when I first read about this game (before the Wii had launched) I was worried I would break down and buy a second controller before Wii Play was released. My boyfriend will play games with me (no pun intended), but I don't have another friend who plays video games--so three controllers would be useless.

Well, here comes Wii play and I own it (my bf kindly grabbed it for me today). BUT...still no Wii!! Am I the only one with this game, and no console???

I know they are starting to get easier to find and all, but I do find it kind of funny that my fears were completely unwarranted...for reasons I never would have expected :)

Has anyone else playted 2 player target shooting by yourself ? Having a remote in each hand is a blast. Makes you feel like Neo from the matrix.

I just found out about that this past weekend. Both shots count towards teh one player playing... also typically if you shoot your own picture you lose points... but in the two "gun" mode with one player the second gun can shoot your picture and add points to your total.
