Just got back from my local gamecrazy, with a paid in full pre order for the Wii!!! This started today and nobody knew about it til this morning! Store manager said they were getting 12-15 units allocated for pre orders(guaranteed spots), the others would be 1st come 1st served. Get out and get one now!

I guess a major concern of mine, this being my first pre-order system, is that I was told about instances where it did not matter which spot you had in line at either GS/EB or GC for preorders. Those who got 360's where the ones who paid in full.... Can anyone who works at either of these two places confirm or deny that? I agree though about the WII not being for ebay..... I am not too concerned about getting a Wii by cristmas but I think it was game informer that mentioned that there would be 400k units avaialbe to NA at launch....

well... basically what happens when the items get transfered in is a sheet will print out with the names of the people who made REAL pre order (not a cash deposit) on the system and there are always in this order... first person who pre ordered at the top, last person who pre ordered at the bottom. it would only make sense for the store to do them in order but they don't actually have to. like i said, for the most part, manager's are making up rules as they go because there really are no rules other than "don't take more than the number your DM gives you" and stores are already breaking that rule. if you have a console with your name on it they will give you a call telling you to show up on release day. if you don't get a call, call them, and if they say no... then you're stuck with second shipment which should honestly be pretty fast.

also, midnight launch is still un-confirmed but more or likely going to happen. i mean, why wouldn't it?
I did my preorder for the Wii back in like February. I'm guessing that means I should call and see what's up?
yes, check back quick.

you might want to put my last few posts in the OP.

i'll gladly answer any other questions on here or in PM.

Gamecrazy seems to be the most unorganized business they really have no idea what is going on. I emailed them about PS3 preordersand the guy who wrote back to me saying that Gamecrazy is not taking preorders for the PS3 or the Wii when stores have obviously been told that they can put the Wii for preorder but not the PS3.

Yeah, that makes no sense. I bet for the Wii it will be first come, first serve -- launch day, it's the gamecrazy way.
I went to one in Tempe and was 1st in the system. I need to go back tomorrow to confirm Im actually getting one at launch. I wonder this because they took that stupid pre-pre-order list and I was 13 on that one.
Damn, I was just headed to the one in Tempe. I hope they still have some left. Anyone know if the preorder is refundable if I get one somewhere else or decide I don't want a Wii at launch?

The one at Mcclintock and Guadalope (sp?) is full. You can try the one on Ray and I think Mcclintock.

you know I was actually thinking of the one at University and Rural. haha, I didn't even know there were three game crazys in town.
From what I understand the gamecrazy here has been doing preorders for months now.
Only pre-pre orders. They just wanted a rough estimate on how many they would need. You only got an official preorder if you put money down this last friday.
i didn't read the whole thread (so don't bash me if someone made this clear already) but as a GC employee, yes we are taking pre orders on wii, each store should know how many they're getting. our store is getting a guarantee of 7 (all are pre ordered with early deposits and employees), it could be more though. basically those deposits taken like last year for the wii SHOULD be moved to an official pre order but the stores ARE NOT required to do so. if you did a deposit (an un-official pre order) then depending on the manager, they might not run it through as an official pre order and forget all about you. so i would check back if you made an unofficial deposit.

it seems like certain stores are maing up their own rules... such as...

-pre ordering more games and acc. to bump you up on the list is bull. they can totally do it if the manager wants to but it's not corporate rules.

one rule was do not take more pre orders on wii then youhave been told (in our stores case 7). it seems some stores are taking second shipment pre orders... which from the letter we got says we're not supposed to do.

technically they can ignore any unofficial pre order deposits if they feel like it.
if you heard that you are supposed to take second shipment preorders then you probably also heard that employees are not allowed to preorder... Trust me I had a group discussion with a district, a regional and the VP of operations for GC. If you have a preorder now then you will probably have to take it off at some point and give it to a customer.

Reposting this, I had accidently put it in the wrong thread:

Oh brother. I got a call from Gamecrazy. I put down my deposit to get on the "waiting list" for the Wii back in May way before official pre-orders. Anyway, they call me to tell me they are doing the official pre-orders now. It was basically a blackmail call.

The guy is telling me how they need to get their "attachment rate" (isn't think the kind of bullshit you should NEVER say to a customer?) up and I need to order a controller and maybe a game to get my pre-order. It's basically implied that if I don't, my "pre-order" won't become official and I'll lose my slot. So now I have to swing by tomorrow to handle the accessories' pre-orders. I debated just telling them to shove it, but instead I think I'll be returning the accessories and game about 5 seconds after I buy them at the midnight launch to see the looks on their faces.

I've got $100 worth of credit at Gamestop I'm using for the games, I don't need to be pressured into a bunch of stuff.

Went to Game Crazy this morning I was #11 he told me that he was still waiting to confirm that were recieving 11 unit for preorders. Told me he would call this afternoon if it was less then 11 unit I haven't heard back from them so hopefully I'll be getting my wii from at launch, only bad thing is Game Crazy is a half hour drive from my house.

well, just for an update, I was number 7 on the list, they got 6 units =( I did however pick up my excite truck and zelda, if only I could play them!
