Wii retro nes titles, HELP!!

I haven't played with the wii in a while. I tried playing several nes games from the wii shop and they do not load up, all I get after load up is the screen you get on any game when you press +, and when I exit the screen is black.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have no idea what this means. Can you clarify, or post a picture?
 
Yes latest firmware...

If you play say wii sports right, and you want to quick pause you would press + and then that pause menu shows up with different icons for wii home, controls etc.

Well when I try to boot up any retro game, the first thing is the screen goes black, then this "pause" screen shows up. On the background you can see the nes game image but when you press + to back to the game, the screen turns black.
 
Weird. What I would suggest trying is selecting the "Reset" option you get if you press the Home button. That resets the virtual console. Worth a shot?
 
Tried reset multiple times, to no avail... Also attempted to log onto the shop to re-download but it does not give me that option when I go to details for any of the games that I've downloaded.
