Koch Media has announced that their point-and-clicker Secret Files: Tunguska is now in development for Nintendo's popular handheld, the DS, and for their innovative new Wii console. The conversions are being developed by 10TACLE STUDIOS MOBILE and Keen Games respectively. According to the developers, Secret Files: Tunguska is a game that's "a perfect-match for Wii", and is currently being optimized for use with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The DS version will take advantage of the system's dual screens, one of them touch sensitive. The DS has already proven to be a successful platform for adventure games, with the critically acclaimed Phoenix Wright series, Another Code and Hotel Dusk already released. Secret Files: Tunguska is one of the first traditional adventures announced for the Wii, but the console could very well be an important system for adventure games in the near future. The Nintendo DS version of Secret Files: Tunguska will hit stores in the 4th quarter of 2007, while the Wii implementation won't be out until the 1st quarter of 2008.

Now, as for the game itself...
The game, like many 'classic' adventure games, is viewed from a third-person perspective and is mouse driven with the player clicking on locations for the main character to move to, objects to examine or pick up, etc.
The central protagonist of Secret Files: Tunguska is a young Russian woman called Nina Kalenkow, the daughter of scientist Victor Kalenkow. He has mysteriously disappeared and Nina sets out to find him - during the game the central character sometimes switches to Max Gruber, a colleague of Victor Kalenkow's (some puzzles can best be solved by using the alternative character if both are present at the location). Their investigations lead them to Tunguska, Siberia, the location of a mysterious and devastating explosion in 1908.
At the end of the game there is a message saying that the characters will return with another game in 2008 so there is a possibility that more games are due in the sequels.

If you really want to play it in its original PC splendor, you can check out the demo here. (Warning: the file is 600 MB. SIX HUNDRED MEGABYTES.) I'm pretty stoked, and have all my fingers and toes crossed that "adventure games on the DS/Wii" is not a mere flash in the pan.

I agree. Could you imagine a new Monkey Island, Grim fandango or [blank] Quest game being made because of the Wii? I hope they don't charge more than $30 though.

Holy god! If that's a real Wii shot then I'm impressed. The game looks great if it's real time though I have a feeling it's most likely a pre-rendered backdrop.

Capucine also looks fantastic... but during some instances, it looks too blocky (lack of polygons) and the textures look blurry.

But both games look amazing overall. I just hope the gameplay is there..

Sorry to dissapoint, I should have been clearer. The game is being ported right now and that is a screenshot from the PC version of the game. I know I'm a dick for posting it without clarifying. Not that I care _that_ much about that.

As far as Monkey Island is concerned, you may have heard a RUMOR which read as follows: (from Rumor Reporter)
As you know, Lucasarts have been moving away from the adventure game genre. However they still hold the licenses too many of the famous adventure games such as Monkey Island. I was wondering if they are planning to release sequels to Monkey Island or Grim Fandango or any other adventure games.
Thanks in advance,
— James

James, the fifth Monkey Island is coming. I know some of the guys who worked on the music compositions for the original PC classics, and they say that it is currently being planned amidst rumors. However, LucasArts has so many things on its belt right now, including a Wii title that has yet to be named. Don’t expect any revitalizations of its classic graphic adventures until 2008 at the earliest. As for Grim Fandango specifically, the future for it right now is looking… well… grim.
Now, I really hope you don't start believing this shit. Even if it IS true, all it says is that LucasArts is open to the idea, and they _may_ start development in 2008. Even if everything goes as planned, we're not likely to see shit until 2010. That said, I'm in huge pain right now, because ever since hearing this "rumor" I've crossed all of my fingers and all of my toes. Shit hurts.

If you now feel bad because I posted a mere announcement and then quite a malicious rumor, capable with playing with your emotions, here's a bit from Rumor Reporter that is a little more believable. And it's focus is Star Wars Force Unleashed. On a Wii. Sure, it may not feature gameplay in which you click on items and then people, and vice-versa, but hey, LucasArts be recognizin'.

Fans and/or interested paries of the recent Sam & Max: Season One game should be happy to find out that Telltale got a 6 billion dollars investment fund, as stated in this here press release. This is good news because...
Telltale will use the financing to drive growth in existing and new episodic series, allowing the company to continue defining and refining new models for interactive entertainment and digital distribution. Multi-platform development and new staff additions are key elements in these strategic plans.
Considering that they've hired not one but two Wii developers recently, it is a safe bet that Telltale's fresh adventures are going to be coming to a Wii near you... in a couple of years or so.

I hope to god that the Wii ports of the new PC titles like A Vampyre Story and The Path are already in the works. Sorry to hijack this thread for a second with an ejaculation of my adventure game lust, but I'll post screenshots next time. I promise.

Well, at least you didn't start a thread about it, like this poor misguided asshole, who shall remain nameless. ;)

Scrub,

I cant get that to get any bigger than what you posted. Clicking it gives me a red X and copy and paste of the source gives me the thumbnail...

No, WarioWare still doesn't make any sense to me... but Nintendo's made a lot of junk over the years, that's for sure.

We're waiting for Pollen Sonata to get a publisher and become announced properly. Then we'll buy it, and complain that it wasn't weird enough.

The video for the game looks really good, by the way.
Where are all the weird game lovers who are usually clamoring for more games like this??

Nintendo is seriously retarded for doing that... they should have given us the option to use the bongo controllers because that control scheme looks about as comfortable as... well, it doesn't look comfortable. Period.

It's just like playing the bongos but without them. How exactly does moving your wrist up and down look uncomfortable? Most people on here are probably well versed in that motion :D

Cosmos do you have the titles for any of those?

What is the one where the person is walking on the roof (3rd row 2nd to last)?

No, it's not a knockoff. It looks like it on the surface, but it plays completely differently.

This game is amazingly fun and, with more levels and polish, would be perfect as a Wii game.

Seeing as how ive been losing faith in my Wii as of late, i decided to go scour the internet to see whats coming out for the big N besides the automatic buys (SSBB, Metroid, Mario Galaxy). Then i decided i might as well put them into one place for others convenience. enjoy.

There are plenty more coming soon so if you have others please post them
Good grief, 56k warning for sure!
Who still uses 56K o_O

Awesome thread OP!

sleepy180, thanks for all of the posts. Next time, learn how to fucking thumbnail images somewhere, like Imageshack, and don't use hotlinked images. Some sites don't allow hotlinking, so don't use it.

Nice post Sleepy.

What bugs me the most is that a lot of those games are TBA. fuck

Anyway, that mushroom men game looked interesting, and I thought Conan was only for PS360.
is this thread even necessary?
Actually, this thread's been pretty helpful. I've learned about quite a few interesting looking Wii games I would've otherwise never noticed.

Conan looks amazing!

I kinda liked the trailers for The Mushroom Men but it wasn't really a trailer. It was just artwork, no in-game shots sadly.

Agreed. I hadn't heard of quite a few of the games I have seen in this thread.
