This is why nintendo is pissing me off. What makes them think they can release more wiiware when they cant even get those titles released on time. This bitch should just say it straight out. fuck VC, We are only making wiiware and crappy music games where people look like Rtards.

Nintendo isn't making most of the WiiWare titles we've seen, and I'm not sure what games you're saying aren't "released on time" - remember, we don't and never really have had a comprehensive or remotely accurate release schedule for WiiWare games.

It's been about a month and a half since I've even seriously thought of getting a WiiWare title, because a lot of what they've been giving us is complete crap. Between completely broken racing games based on mid-1990s fads and even more SHMUPS, there hasn't been much there. I know that every game can't be as good as My Life as a King or Dr. Mario, but if you're going to throttle down the number of titles this much for NO fuckING REASON, it'd be nice if they'd release games that...y'know, don't suck.
 
So far Wiiware is just another venue to push shovelware onto the Wii.

I think that's why they are focusing more on Wiiware rather than VC, it's probably more attractive to third parties. Maybe.

The game i was hinting at was Strong Bad. Ive been seriously waiting for this game since it was released and they themselves said it was supposed to June. Just venting some frustration.

Yeah the shovelwiiware is getting rediculous as the normal shovelware. I bought 2 2000 wii points cards in anticipation of SMRPG,strong bad, and save the rest. well looks like ill be saving a lot till then.

Whoever decided to let the POGs racing game get released should be lynched and hanged. what were they thinking?
 
The last 2 great games were toki tori and Lords of Thunder. Pokemon 64 and r type on the snes are trash as far as I'm concerned.
Give me starfox 1 and 2 or some star wars. How about Majora's Mask or Castlevania 3? Go F-ing crazy and release final fantasy 6, Earthbound and Yoshi's Island.

Or you could release legend of success joe and some more bullshite.

"Pokemon 64" isn't a real game and could refer to two titles on the Virtual Console. Starfox 2 was never released ANYWHERE and Star Fox 64 is essentially a remake of the first, so don't count on seeing either of them, ever. Star Wars, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy are all third party so Nintendo doesn't have any control over if or when they can release the titles. The GameCube wasn't able to emulate Majora's Mask correctly on the Zelda bonus disc (the frame rate dropped and the game tended to freeze up), and depending on what the issue was (Expansion Pak related, maybe?) it wouldn't surprise me if the Wii had the same issues.

So no, I wouldn't count on any of those.

I don't know about the other two, but at least Yoshi's Island has seen recent rerelease.
 
This is the first thing I thought of when seeing what is happening to Nintendo.

I'm pretty much a fanboy for Nintendo, I get that they shouldn't try to be what MS and Sony are and in not doing that have had a lot of success. What I (and clearly the majority of gamers) think is that they will have a hell of a time selling their next console when the core gamer is jaded and the soccer moms are just fine with the one system.
 
This week, Europe got City Connection - NES/500 Points, Neo Turf Masters - Neo Geo/900 Points, and International Karate + - Commodore 64/500 Points.

It seems since May 30th, the European Wii Shop is alternating WiiWare and VC releases every other week. Kinda cool.
 
I'm completely clueless how combat works in Ys. Looked like worldmap enemies were beaten by running into them repeatedly (while taking no damage) but the boss battle was confusing.

If you ram into then, you cause damage to them, and vice versa, IIRC. You don't actually swing swords until like Ys III.

Combat in Ys I is rather different from other console RPGs of the time, where battles were often turn-based and menu-oriented. Ys I rather featured a battle system quite similar to that of typical roguelike. The protagonist simply moves into his enemy and damage is sustained on both sides. Attacking straight on causes the attacker the most damage to himself; it's clipping the edge of the defender that yields a successful differential.

One thing about it...Ys is a classic and it was worshipped at the time, but when I played it (on the Duo, after EB had it's clearance fire sale) I thought it was very easy and outdated....and that was in the late 90's. It was neither as deep nor as amazing as I was hoping.

Besides Mario RPG, I'm really wanting to download/play Yoshi's Island. The DS version is great, but I really do like the original muuuch better.

If we've got something good, I'll have to buy points for the second time in three days. I finally cracked and got River City Ransom (why didn't I play this game YEARS ago?), so I've got 500 points sitting there, and that probably won't cut it.

What IGN said is true - we have submitted the game to Nintendo, and as soon as we get approval from them, it will be released quickly after that. We really are in the home stretch.

We've been waiting to announce a release date until we have that approval, though, because until that happens, well, anything can happen! Getting games into WiiWare is a new process for us and we're learning as we go, so I'm sorry if any of you are disappointed that tomorrow is the last Monday in July and you won't have a Strong Bad game to play. On the plus side, we're closer now than we've ever been, and very soon we should be able to tell you exactly when it's coming out!

Also, I'd like to preemptively say that contrary to some comments I've seen people making here and there, Nintendo has NOT been sitting on the game for months. We were still working on getting some bugs fixed until fairly recently. So please don't assume that they're some evil empire that's been hoarding the game since June because they don't want you to have it. Everyone we're working with at Nintendo wants the game to come out just as badly as we (and you!) do.[/quote]
 
I remember having that game for my Game Gear. It's somewhat fun arcade-y racing, but it's over pretty quickly, are there are only a few criminals to catch before the order repeats.
