This was posted on the last page, but since nobody seemed to notice it then...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the game is not coming out tomorrow.

What IGN said is true - we have submitted the game to Nintendo, and as soon as we get approval from them, it will be released quickly after that. We really are in the home stretch. We've been waiting to announce a release date until we have that approval, though, because until that happens, well, anything can happen! Getting games into WiiWare is a new process for us and we're learning as we go, so I'm sorry if any of you are disappointed that tomorrow is the last Monday in July and you won't have a Strong Bad game to play. On the plus side, we're closer now than we've ever been, and very soon we should be able to tell you exactly when it's coming out!

Also, I'd like to preemptively say that contrary to some comments I've seen people making here and there, Nintendo has NOT been sitting on the game for months. We were still working on getting some bugs fixed until fairly recently. So please don't assume that they're some evil empire that's been hoarding the game since June because they don't want you to have it. Everyone we're working with at Nintendo wants the game to come out just as badly as we (and you!) do.

Up until recently, Nintendo didn't even have finished code. Feel free to blame them for Earthbound and SMRPG, but it sounds like Strongbad's delays are one thing that isn't their fault.

Just finished LostWinds. A pretty good game... but it's so short It's just barely worth the 1000 Wii points. Wish there was more bang for buck, but nonetheless, my favorite WiiWare game so far. When I get the remaning four statues and delete LostWinds from local memory, I will then play FFCCMLaaK some more to see if LostWinds keeps that title.

:whee:

http://www.tetrisparty.com/ is finally up. Not A LOT of info, but Wii Balance Board IS confirmed. This excites me in a way. I'm sure there will be people who will complain about this.

Also, according to Nintendo Wii Fanboy, Space Invaders Get Even will have DLC, but the main game will be 500 points. That's VERY exciting.

Samurai Shodown II on Monday

http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12205578&postcount=23489
Wall, NJ – July 31, 2008 – SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION, the U.S. publishing arm of the SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION, announced today the forthcoming release of SAMURAI SHODOWN II for Wii™ Virtual Console™ on August 4th 2008.

Regarded as one of SNK’s greatest games ever produced, SAMURAI SHODOWN II successfully integrated a brand new, dynamic fighting system that was years ahead of its time. The fighting system introduced players to several new offensive and defensive maneuvers including the ability to roll both forwards and backwards, ducking to avoid high attacks, hopping to avoid low attacks and the implementation of a ‘parry’ system that would allow players to deflect incoming attacks at the last second if performed successfully. In addition to the newly revised fighting system, SAMURAI SHODOWN II also features 16 unique playable characters, hidden bosses, a two player versus mode and of course all of the wonderful translations fans have grown to love.

SAMURAI SHODOWN II will be available for Wii™ Virtual Console™ for only 900 Wii™ Points and has been rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB.
Oh, and Plattchen and Wild West Guns also?

Today Europe got two WiiWare games, Defend Your Castle - 500 Points, and Wild West Guns - 1000 Points, (which America is getting on Monday).

Well, that is certainly good news. I don't know anything about Plattchen or Wild West Guns but Ys and Samurai Shodown II are welcome additions.

Wii balance board? I can't say I'm excited more than I am intrigued. I'm really interested in seeing how that works. Imagine the possibilities of playing Tetris and getting a workout.

Thats nice, how about a reprint of Tetris DS.
Then im in. *pretends fingers are guns* BANG! BANG!
:twoguns:

Edit:

Bah, no Plattchen again

http://gonintendo.com/?p=51330

No, no Plattchen this time. It has to finish the EuropeCheck and after that it will be checked for the US. So we think/hope that it will be released in Europe on Friday 15 and in the US on the following Monday 18. We really hope that Nintendo will confirm these dates for us. - Bernd Geiblinger, Art Director

The latest ESRB update confirms two wonderful things that we knew were happening at some point: first, that Mega Man and the sublime Mega Man 2 would be on the way to our Virtual Console soon; second, that Earthworm Jim would make an appearance.

Even more interesting -- Earthworm Jim has been rated for a while, but the latest update includes a rating for Earthworm Jim 2 on the Wii! Strangely, the new rating is for the Wii and Genesis versions, while another rating is already on the site for the Genesis game. Now it's got two E ratings! It's extra appropriate for families.

Earthworm Jim 2 was SOOOOOO many dollar signs $$$$$

It isn't going to happen. From what I understand, the reason why the run was so small was that Nintendo lost the rights to Tetris to Hudson, meaning they weren't allowed to print any more copies once the rights transferred.

It's a damn shame, too, since I probably would've gotten that with my DS on day one if it was still out there. I can't afford $50 or more for a copy, though.

How is it compared to the original? I played that to death on my Genesis, but never did get a copy of the sequel.

My local Wal*Mart just dropped the Winter point card and classic controller bundles to $11. Not as good as $7, but still pretty damn good. Got 4000 more points and one more controller. Now I can play SNES games on the VC without a shitty (for SNES games) GC controller!

Either that list is wrong (save Plattchen which we know won't be coming out this week), or we're having a hell of a day on Monday. According to Capcom, Mega Man 1 is coming out tomorrow.

Keep in mind there's another option for Mega Man, though. The Mega Man Anniversary Collection is selling for $8 at GameStop. I didn't have a big problem with the controls (the jump and shoot buttons really should've been reversed, but the d-pad is fine and I thought the game played well), and for less than the price of downloading MM1 and MM2 it may be worth considering.
Until I see YS 1 and 2 on the shop channel I don't give a fuck about confirmation posts. Nintendo is evil fuckers and I will believe it when I see it.
So what, exactly, is Ys about? Two games for less than $10 (especially games getting that kind of positive reaction) is almost definitely worth it, but I'm not familiar with the series at all. It's an RPG, right?

Very old school ARPG stuff. Ys 1 & 2 was one of the first CD-based RPGs and as such it included new, then-crazy stuff like good music and semi-animated cut scenes.

Ugh... just spent some quality time with Super Metroid and now my eyes are asploding. Played from 9AM-10AM, stopped, and then played more from 12PM-now. It's a great game, but I'm terrible at the "exploration" part of it. Always have to have Gamefaqs close by... :whistle2:( Everytime I try exploring on my own I end up stuck or dead. I'm also much slower than the speedruns...

And I'll review Wild West guns as soon as I get my hands on it.
... wondering hoe the Nyko Perfect shot feels with it.
Yo..RR. Don't get offended by this but by merely switching the 'w' for an 'e' you just spit out some genius beat jazz poetry.

Anways, I'll probably buy Ys if it really drops tomorrow.

I'll probably bite. Maybe not tomorrow (don't have the points at the moment, since I figure it'll be close to 1000 points), but I'm up for old-school RPGs. :)

I just restarted Super Mario Sunshine today. I didn't get very far in on my first attempt, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. I forgot how hard the game is.

Well we DO have some confirmations tomorrow..

YS Book I & II IS coming out tomorrow for sure.
Is this a TG16 or a TGCD game? I see it's 800 points, that could mean it's a TG16 import or a normal TGCD game.

Anyway, I'm sure most of you know that Mega Man IS coming out tomorrow too.

I still haven't personally read any confirmation on Wild West Guns..but that would be awesome. I do want a zapper type game. But 1000 points and probably 300 blocks? Ugh.

Just played a bunch more Super Metroid. I love this game. I hope tomorrow I'll have some new games to play.

It's the SUMMER OF THE BACKLOG! Just like... every other summer. At least when Tetris comes out I can have something shiny to play for a while.

Megaman on August 4th

ABOUT fuck ing TIME!!!!!

Now, all I am looking forward to is Splatterhouse 2 (sorry guys, I kinda gave up on EB and SMRPG)

Didn't we have some confirmation for Samurai Shodown II as well?

Today's either going to be the best Virtual Console day we've had in months, or a colossal letdown. Here's hoping it isn't the latter.

http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=15954

The list of available games for Wii™ owners just keeps on growing as we add another trio of titles to the Wii™ Shop Channel. This week's lineup features Old West thrills, supernatural chills and a little blue hedgehog whose name you're sure to recognize. Thanks to Nintendo's WiiWare™ downloadable game service and the classic-filled Virtual Console™, building your own blockbuster video game library has never been easier.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

WiiWare

Wild West Guns
(Gameloft, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen—Violence, 1,000 Wii Points): Draw your revolver to see if you're the fastest gun in the West. Adjust your speed and precision as targets or enemies appear in front of you. Point and shoot to earn more points. You can aim at anything, so be sure to explore the environment for elements that will earn you more shooting points. Identify your enemies among the characters you encounter, but don't shoot at innocent citizens. Take part in an Old West-style train attack, or challenge your skills in a variety of increasingly difficult shooting challenges in other beautiful, classic and lively Western environments. As you progress through challenges, you'll earn medals and rewards, making for nonstop, addictive action. Play in a two-player multiplayer mode where you and your partner can combine points, or play against each other to find out who's the fastest gun in the West.

Virtual Console

Sonic The Hedgehog™
(Sega Master System, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Based on the original Sega Genesis version, Sonic The Hedgehog was re-created as the first Sonic game for the Sega Master System. Not just a straight port, this version includes new stages, bosses, some different zones and a level map. The most noticeable difference, however, is that the Chaos Emeralds have to be found within certain stages other than the Special Stages. Dash through six Zones (including special zones that were only available for the Sega Master System version) and face Dr. Eggman (a.k.a. Dr. Robotnik) at the end of every Zone.

SPLATTERHOUSE™ 2 (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated M for Mature—Blood and Gore, Violence, 800 Wii Points): SPLATTERHOUSE 2 is the sequel to SPLATTERHOUSE, released only on the Sega Genesis. A few months after escaping from the first mansion in SPLATTERHOUSE, the main character, Rick, once again encounters the Terror Mask and must use its powers to rescue his beloved Jennifer. Rick will need to punch, slash, smash and even chainsaw his way through a haunted mansion against unspeakable horrors and terrifying bosses to make it out alive.

WTF

 !!!!
We ALL got played!

How is Splatterhouse 2? I remember when Splatterhouse came out on the VC like last year everyone was SO happy..but..I thought it was really boring. How different is this?

Though, I kinda want to support M rated games on the VC.. :whistle2:k

Wild West Guns might be my next impulse buy because I really haven't downloaded a game in a while.
Also, how is this version of Sonic?

I wouldn't say this is a terrible week. Hudson's website DID confirm YS I & II for today and Capcom's blog DID confirm Mega Man today too...:whistle2:s
I wonder what happened.

I wonder if Nintendo is taking action on companies that are leaking their VC releases early and therefore, pushing back their release date.

If so, that's fucked up. Really fucked up.

Major Nelson announces XBLA releases 2 days before. Why can't Nintendo do the same thing so we don't waste our time anticipating what will be released on Monday.

Dat right there is some Buuuuuuullllllllllllllshit. Isn't Sonic on the Master system just a worse version of the fun Genesis Sonic?

I had no idea Sonic wasn't on the VC already.

Interestingly enough, that Mega Man blog post is gone. Change of plans, I guess.

Where can I find a comparison of Sonic between Genesis and Master System? I already have the Genesis one (several times) and am wondering if the Master System one is different enough to warrant a purchase.
