Not wrong of you at all.

XBLA games are one of the biggest reasons to get a 360. So I dunno why it would be wrong here.

Ever gonna get a PS3?
PSN games are where it's at. Probably what I enjoy most.

Catan is coming even.

Show me proof of that last statement.

And then bring Braid.

At this point, since those systems are becoming twins of each other, I'm losing reason to own both.

So another equal statement would be "when does MGS4 come to the 360?" 'cuz that would seal the deal there too.

Unless people trade me their systems...

PSN doesn't have Duke3d. Shake it baby.

Seriously though, big props to Nintendo for making the VC kick ass again. I hope they continue to tap its limitless potential. Weeks like this give me more hope for the DSi virtual console (or whatever it will be called).

- Game Republic brings Catan to PSN and has 3 more board games coming in 2009. See here.

Ah, Braid, it is a masterpiece.
It'll come to PSN, the creator guy wants it to but stated there's a 1 year exclusivity window. I certainly wasn't going to wait, but it's been a few months now.

There's plenty of "art-like" games on PSN. And that's really what I enjoy the most. I
HOLY SHIT SECRET OF MANA

hooray!
i will second that statement.

So is this nintendo's way of making up for all those crappy release weeks we've had before?

okay nintendo. no good games for a few weeks, i still have to grab super mario rpg, shining force 2, and now secret of mana.

I just want to pop in and say that Cubello is pretty excellent and should warrant a purchase immediately. WAY more than Orient I'd say.

I was afraid someone would say that.

I watched a video of the first two levels someone had posted and couldn't figure it out. How far have you gotten Strell?

OK duders, I have 4000 Wii points from the TRU sale, what WiiWare should I get? I don't have anything right now. Not sure if I'm interested in VC as I can satiate my hunger for most of those via other avenues.
Since we're off topic anyway, I have to disagree. PSN has some nice games but it can't touch the variety and the overall quality of the XBLA games that are available but that's just my opinion of course.

I do wish the PSN would have more PS1 games, it's so ridiculous going on the Japanese or even European PS1 store and seeing how many games they have on there in comparison to our store.
My last off topic post!

I'll politely disagree.
XBLA games, and I've tried tons of demos from all the games recommended.
Mostly cheap looking, no frills, arcade-y games that really have no soul.
That and ports of older games.

Obvious exceptions of course, as there are some excellent titles.
But all these cheapo looking games coming out week after week.
I'm afraid that's what PSN is going to start looking like after a while.

Sorry guys, no more from me!

I don't know dude, the original stuff like the PixelJunk games feel like flash games I can play in my browser. And the rest of the stuff is already or also available on the 360 but with a demo. I do love how you can share games though, so I guess that somewhat makes up for the lack of demos.

Anyway, yeah lets get back on topic.

So anyone get World of Goo yet? I haven't seen any impressions yet unless I'm just not seeing them. I blame Strell for my cold that is getting increasingly worse as the day goes on.

Mini Reviews of most WiiWare games

The ones that aren't on there:
Art Style: Cubello
Haven't played it yet
Madstone
Haven't played it yet
Midnight Bowling
Lacks the polish that makes Wii Sports bowling so great.
World of Goo
Very much fun. Retail quality, although I guarantee it's not retail length.

I have my top five in the blog post, but with World of Goo in the mix and time to reflect here's my new top five:

LostWinds (1000 points)
Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (1000 points)
World of Goo (1500 points)
Art Style: ORBIENT (600 points)
Bomberman Blast (1000 points)

Anyone recommend a good controller besides the Classic Controller & the Wavebird for VC titles? I'd really like to go wireless with something which isn't the Wavebird and therefore a big, chunky behemoth.

Nyko is coming out with a wireless classic controller but the price is hunky at 29.99

Like most puzzle games, it's a "connect four of a kind and they disappear" sort of thing.

You've got 3-4 colors (on the levels I've played so far) in the Cubello (which is the big structure). You shoot blocks at it. Four connected in any manner causes them to fall off, which requires some 3D thinking. When you shoot it, the placement causes the Cubello to spin in that direction, so you have to take into account how this might affect where you are planning to shoot next.

Everytime you knock some off, your chamber gets three more rounds. So if I knock off four gray cubes, I get three cubes to fire (not gray, but randomly chosen). The game ends if you run out of ammo. This forces you to strategically plan your moves, because you can only have ten rounds in your chamber at any time. In other words, if you get 4 sets really quick, you lose out on potential ammo, which can screw you later on.

Levels end when you remove all of the colored cubes, except for the middle one (which has some fancy name I can't remember).

Additionally, every time you knock off cubes, a spinner starts up (think No More Heroes), and if it roulettes four-of-a-kind, you enter bonus mode, which lets you shoot infinite blocks to rack up combos and get rid of sets.

There is a tutorial, but it doesn't tell you everything, and instead leaves you to discover some things on your own. For example,
you can cause combo/chain reactions if you knock off a set, since doing so causes blocks that were attached to it to move toward the center cube, meaning you might get rid of a bunch at once. Additionally, bonus mode causes different things to happen, such as being given infinite ammo on one color (which does change if you eliminate an entire color in the Cubello), or being given infinite ammo with a "wild card" cube that becomes whatever it attaches to.

There's no score. Instead you are shown how many shots you made and how long it took you to finish the level. Getting better times with less moves is the impetus for replaying a level.

Music is ok. Watching the Cubello spin is fun in and of itself, and watching it build itself at the beginning of each level is really interesting (would make an excellent screen saver).

In a funny move for Nintendo, the tutorial has a computer-voice narrating it (think Portal to a small degree). Likewise, when you are playing, he announces the colors you shoot and will occasionally say nice things to you - "Nice!" or "Great!" or so on. But it's so monotone that it makes me laugh.

Anyway, I think it is FAR more realized than Orbient, but that might purely be because it's a new game rather than a port.

Secret of Mana?
World of Goo?
Cubello?

wat

What happened to all those bazillions of points you had :p

A game named after ME?! How kind of them!

Anyways, Digital Distribution is raping my wallet...slowly. I have way more DD games than disc games this generation. I blame PSN gamesharing and the Wii Shop Channel. :nottalking:
Oh man, now I know where you live. Next time you're awoken at 5 in the morning, it won't be by a fire. ;)
lilboo is going to have stalkers? :hot:

I never thought I would say this, but Secret of Mana is going to have to wait because I'm too busy playing other games. World of Goo/Professor Layton/Wario Land/SMRPG are all on my to do list!

Haha, I totally could have said get on it, and earned further approval from Yukine.

Still working on Orbient you bastard. I will most definitely pick up Cubello once I finish Orbient.

These games are turning out to be great pick up and play 15 minute games, especially when you're short on time and need a gaming fix, not to mention only 600 points.

How many blocks is it? I'll have to do some additional shuffling to fit it on here most likely.

And I forgot Megaman 9. 'cause I'm a wuss. Need to beat Wily's Castle.

I think Cubello's like 60-something blocks.

World of Goo is pretty fantastic. Played through the first Chapter in about an hour, though I had to skip the Tower of Goo level after climbing to within .5 meters of the pipe. :whistle2:( Not sure what the limit on skips for that one means.

I agree that this game is really fun. I played through around the first 6 stages of level 1 and it has been a blast. Great controls, simple but clean and nice-looking graphics, and a good soundtrack. I can't wait to play again this afternoon.

Even though I have 4000 shiny new Wii points, I'm holding off on buying anything new until I complete some of the other VC and WiiWare stuff I have yet to finish.

My Apt wasn't burned. The ghetto trash down the hall is burnt down. we just can't live there at the moment because there's STILL too much smoke. :wall:

BF called and we might be going back tonight.

I EXPECT A BLUE LIGHT ON MY Wii WITH CHARITABLE GIFTS!

WELL EXCCUUUSE ME, PRINCESS.
I already sent you Secret of Mana this morning, lilboo. :]
This is a lie. I don't think we are even Wii friends :(
?!
I don't think we are registered Wii friends either, It's such a pain in the ass to do so!

Your on my list , but your name is grayed out so obviously you haven't added me back yet.
Boo is on my freind list

I was going to surprise you with a game, but you cant send games across regions. Sorry :[
Yes, you can. I've received games from Canada and vise versa.

Either the sender or receiver needs to switch their console to the other's region. I know this works for exchanging within the NA, but doubt NA > EU would work.
