Wii U Appears to have been given an official price by Walmart
They needed an HD Zelda or something to launch with this. Although Zelda doesn't exactly pull in the biggest numbers anymore.
Triple game disk, Mario galaxy 1 , Mario galaxy 2, Zelda skyward sword. All mastered in HD, all on one disk, disk included with console.

Will they do that? No. Expect Wii U Soorts.

Is it confirmed that the Wii U will play Wii games? I never bought a Wii and have missed out on many thing Mario and Zelda.

I'm not sure if I want this but I will most likely pick it up because I can. Are the games going to be region coded like most everything this generation besides the PS3?

i know that would move the hardcore fans to buying but even then zelda needs a new direction. if they were going to show anything it should have been a new version of something popular from the past. a really great platformer. maybe a new actraiser or if they had the rights to the franchise banjo kazooie. or a full 3d donkey kong platformer. i know it wont happen but id be willing to get a wiiu to play a new flying warriors game if it was good.

While the console has not yet been released, they said it would be backwards compatible with the Wii but not the GameCube. Personally, I would wait until the console price drops. If the sales are bad, prices will be down by the summer 2013.

At launch the xbox was something around 400 and the ps3 was 600 and with lots of inflation since then you all are complaining about it being pretty much 50$ more than the current gen + get a tablet hehe. It's like the same price as the veta. there is no way the 720 or ps4 will be 350 either. i just think there are nintendo haters out there and want an excuse for the next 2 years to not getting it!

but anyways i hope they maybe have a non tablet controller option too. some games probably wont need it. :)

You're right. They probably won't be. But they're also not going to be just comparable to the 360 and PS3 either.

EXACTLY! This is what almost everyone gets but a few people seem to not understand. This console they are about to dump on the market is going to be overpriced for the technology in it.

No and I'll probably skip NSMB Wii U and go for NSMB 2 on DS. I'll be getting this for Pikmin 3, Nintendo World (that theme park thing) and a handful of the third party efforts. Highlight there is project P-100. Lovely.
What it all boils down to is... do you want to pay 300-350 dollars to play that new Super Mario game?
This is pretty much it. Maybe I'm old now bur 300-500 to play Mario just isn't that appealing.

Yep. I love Mario, Metroid and Zelda. But even those have gotten a bit stale, so I couldn't see paying $350 for pretty much just those games since there wasn't much else I really enjoyed on the Wii.

Maybe there will be two SKU's, 1 base model at $299.99 and 1 at $349.99 with a pack-in game (NintendoLand) and an extra pro controller or some other goodies for incentive. Or possibly other differences in models like memory. Similar things were done with the Xbox 360 and PS3 at launch.

That said, $350 or less, I will get it. New SMB U, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and maybe ACIII, COD BO II, Lego City: Undercover, and/or ZombiU. Also, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, and Project P-100 when released in the launch window. That's at least among the confirmed titles. Hopefully, more will be announced.

Maybe it'll surprise me, but New Super Mario Bros. U just seemed incredibly lazy. Rayman Legends seems to be doing a much better job of roughly the same thing. I think online co-op would've been great but instead they want you to post how you feel about the levels...

Honestly though, there's so little coming out this holiday season I'm even remotely excited about, I may get it just to have something new to play.

With NSMB U, even though the E3 demo wasn't wowing, Nintendo deserves the benefit of the doubt with Mario games being of great quality. Rayman Legends looks amazing as Origins was better than any other platformer this gen, except Mario Galaxy 2. I'm dissapointed two that holiday 2012 features more of the same Halo/Gear for 360 *Check*, COD *Check*, Assassin's Creed *Check*. Dishonored is the only interesting title, but its execution over the whole game is still in question. Q1 2013 is going to be crazy.

AC3 has similarities to previous AC games but it's certainly not the same.

Those guys are introducing alot of new elements to the game and I think they deserve some credit.
Even if it launches at $300 I'm not sure I'm drinking the kool-aid this time Nintendo.
"Hi, my name is Jim Jones and I'm a Nintendo rep. I'm here to tell you first hand that you can trust me and that kool-aid you have there is absolutely delicious."

1+ for those that get the joke :)
