Picked up Shantae and the Pirate's Curse for $8 last night, only played it for about 15 mins but it seems good so far.

Was Guacamele Championship Edition cheaper in one of those Humble Indie bundles not long ago?

Interested in Child of Light. I never buy digital games but at this price, I might get it since I don't think they have physical copies of this, right?

Got spare Humble codes of:

Steamworld Dig

OlliOlli

I can't decide if I should get Shantae and the Pirate's Curse now for the Wii U, or wait for a similar sale on the 3DS version.

Portability & 3D seem to make more sense; anybody that's played them have an opinion?

You know as well as I do that nobody'll bother with it until the 31st when we'll get another epic eShop crash. Because something has to inherit the crashing curse now that the CN site is down.

I highly doubt Return will be one of the titles.

My money is on Kirby 64, Kirby Squeak Squad, and Canvas Curse.
A website was reading predicted Kirby 64, Squeak Squad, and Epic Yarn since they are all currently available in Europe. Sounds like a good enough guess. Good luck on them selling Epic Yarn for $20, though, if that is one. Used copies of that are still pretty readily available I think for like $10.

The ESRB has added listings for Kirby 64, Squeak Squad, and Return to Dreamland so it would appear to be those three games.  It would be awesome if they did the 50% off for the first week for Return to Dreamland like they did with the other Wii games but I'm guessing that won't happen.

Would be nice, doubt it will happen though since that was to promote the launch of the Wii VC.

Was Return to Dreamland that good? I just sorta facerolled that game in coop and it felt like Kirby Triple Deluxe was better than that game in most ways. But, because of said facerolling, I did not really savor the taste of the game itself.

EDIT: And just as a PSA, I will maintain people are sleeping on NSMBU because "Hurr it's NSMB of course it's boring" when it's good enough to stack up to the classic Marios. I rate it higher than 3DWorld and I will fight anyone who takes issue.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I'll do it!

I felt that this particular Mario franchise [since the wonderful original on DS (could be nostalgia goggles, admittedly)] has been wholly bland and uninspired, with the worst physics in the series. I'm hoping the coming Mario Maker will mean an end the NSMB series as well as herald the next iteration of 2D Mario.

It went out of print quickly and is really expensive now, so not many people have played it. I believe it was also the late GameCube game that was long-delayed near the end of its life.

It's weird because from a level design perspective the NSMB games are probably the most refined Mario games. They're just all so samey that I don't think it matters in the end.

DRAW YOUR SWORD WAGGLES YOUR AMBITION ENDS HERE

I don't understand how you can impugn NSMBU's physics, especially if you have seen some of the bonus videos where they pull off ridiculous bullshit with jumps, juggles, and timing, and how insanely fun the squirrel suit is as a replacement for the SMW cape that doesn't completely trivialize the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oSQo5bV9T4

I mean look at that guy totally teabag 1-1 with the squirrel suit. That's some cuhrazy DMC combo video level shit* and that's the most basic stuff they do in the NSMBU+NSLU bonus videos.

*Look ma I'm hitting jump cancel helm breaker six thousand times on a harmless punching bag enemy aren't I the craziest such skill such deep combat**

**Bayonetta is better.

EDIT: I could understand someone shitting on NSMB2 but even that is good fun

EDIT2: And then look at THESE gaylords styling over the same level with bubble yoshi. If nothing else, look how they swap at the halfway point

New Super Luigi U was much better than New Super Mario U, which felt like it had a bit more attitude and style to it than the base game. It would've been cool to see them do New Super Toad U and New Super Peach U on top of that.

Yeah, I thought Return to Dreamland was pretty bland. Not bad, but nowhere near as fun as Triple Deluxe. Like Frisky said, the disc just got hard to find/expensive after time. Not really related to its quality. It will be good to see it released digitally, though, so people don't have to pay an unreasonable amount to check it out.

FYI: Kirby 64 is in kirby collection on wii. I'll buy return to dreamland for $10 and keep mine wii copy sealed.

I really enjoy the little character animations for each of the sprites.  Dedede has an inner tube when he's sitting in water!  It's a pretty ok game otherwise.

I got ps4 version. May pick up wii u version and give away wii code. Still have over 25 days to maky my purchase. Any different between wii u version and ps4 version?
There's no Wii U version, just WiiWare playable on Wii Mode. The Wii version doesn't have HD filters or leaderboards but is the updated version.

Can Wii Points be used to buy this game on the Wii Shop, or does it need to be bought on the dev's site?

Also, is it possible to buy Child of Light and Cloudberry Kingdom if you don't have space on your Wii U (but now and download later)?

Wii points are fine.

You need the space available for a game to purchase it on the Wii U.

FYI, my review of Retro City Rampage is that it's decent. The jumping-as-dodge for enemy bullets is a really clever mechanic that really only a game like this could do. There's enough chaos that it scratches the mindless GTA fun itch but the game itself is weak. Playing the story is a bit like playing RFG for the boring-ass story, only even less satisfying. In addition, the "turn and gas pedal" driving mode is more innately satisfying but to handle the turns and driving mechanics that the game demands of you, you HAVE to switch to the "instant turns, just use d-pad for all driving" ultra-retro scheme.

On your WiiUs I think Watch Dogs is a better choice for open world wankery but even that has some weaknesses in that specific criteria for trying to be a cyberpunk batmans game rather than a GTA chaos game so peasant abuse is limited. For 3DS the only competition is the pretty dang good GTA:CW.

The Wiiware version is updated and absolutely playable. Looks good. No complaints about the implementation.

Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) now available on European Wii U eShop

In addition the original Wii classic Xenoblade Chronicles is to be made available on Nintendo eShop on Wii U right now! Those who purchase this game will be eligible for a £9.00 GBP discount on Xenoblade Chronicles X if they buy it on Nintendo eShop on the same Wii U console* within two weeks of the game’s launch in December.

Note: Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) originally supported the Classic Controller, which means you should be able to play the VC version using the gamepad.

I'm all over this if it comes to NA. Sold my Wii copy ages ago because the amount of money I got for it was ridiculous. Was going to pick up the 3DS release, but reports of terrible graphics kept me away. I don't spend much time handheld gaming anyway.

The 3DS version is also the only retail game that requires the New XL right now, so that takes away one of the reasons to upgrade for us 3DS+Wii U owners.

I wouldn't say the graphics are terrible. Are they as good as the Wii version? No. But for the 3DS they are quite good.
