Wii w/ $25 gift card- Circuit City has Wii - but would not sell them until Sunday

Tendoboy

CAGiversary!
I went on my rounds to find a Wii tonight. Went all over w/ no luck. Went to CC and asked, the associate went in the back and came out w/ one and stated that she had 6. I stated I wanted one and my co-worker w/ me wanted one as well.

We went to the counter and even though they were in the system, they couldnt ring them up. The manager tried to make it happen but couldn't. She made a few phone calls and they stated that it was to be in the ad on Sunday and couldnt be sold.

BIG BUMMER.

They do have a gift card coupon in the store for $25 w/ a total purchase of $250-500

Buy the Wii on Sunday w/ a pack of gum and get the card.......other wise it will be a $10 for 100-250 purchase.

They were going to ring me up tonight with this deal but couldnt- system lock down as they have to legally have the Wii if in the ad on Sunday.
This gift card coupon, its a coupon on the back of a gift card like the Best Buy GGC? What do they look like
Its a regular coupon. They have stacks at all the registers. The amount of the gift card depends on how much you spend.

Should be interesting. But Best Buy is handing out tickets a hour before opening, so I know by then if I have a chance at a Wii via the tickets, if not I'll just drive 2 minutes and hit the CC. Thanks OP.

Yeah, I believe Nintendo said there will be 3 major shipments of the Wii. Launch, week after launch, and the week before Christmas. In between shipments would be trickled in. So this Sunday is the big shipment everywhere I believe, time to get ready.

yeah, looks like most places are doing holds until sunday. Bestbuy, Circuit City and Toysrus. Next will be walmart and target

thanks OP.

i plan on camping/arriving a few hours early on sun because i have a real copy of the $40 off $200 coupon.

Can they give you a shift that long? I thought my shift at Best Buy Black Friday two years ago was bad...4 AM - 12 PM.

Is this the last hoorah Batch of consoles before Christmas? Or is this batch a consistant one where there will be healthy restocking? Ive been striking out everywhere. They get 41..Im 42nd in line.

where do you get this $40 off a $200 purchase coupon? It is different from the gift card coupon right? I need to get one because this Sunday I am getting a Wii, no matter what, lol. Thanks.

dam, you can't combine the coupons??? blahhh now why the hell did i hold off on buying til i saw this coupon then... that sucks... r u sure???

Actually, the Target near me in Cincinnati has told me they have them in stock but can't sell them until Sunday. I also had the EB in Eastgate tell me the same thing, that one suprised me.

Guess I'll have to wait until after the holidays to find one since I work all day Sunday and won't have a chance to try for one.
Wow...guess I'll be getting up SUPER early Sunday and driving around looking for a place w/ little-to-no line
That's my plan too.

So is this confirmed that BB, CC, and TRU will all be receiving Wii systems this Sunday? If so how (is it supposed to appear in the Sunday ad this week?)

CC near me confirmed they have it but can't sell it till Sunday. Another employee said there was a radio ad about it already.

Thanks I may take a shot at lining up this Sunday but I want to make sure I'm not waiting for nothing. I have a Target and BB very close to me and a CC withing about 10 miles.
Yeah its going to be advertised in this Sundays ad with the words, "Minimum 20 per store." -- That's why they're holding them.
Are all of the stores mentioned above supposed to advertise the Wii on Sunday or just CC?

i went to my CC tonight and asked if they had Wiis. he said yea but not selling til Sunday. hopely pplz dont kno. ill be there early

I was pissed Weds night as not only did they have them, they brought them to the counter and tried for 30 minutes to sell it to me and 3 other people.....then proceeded to take it back behind the counter and tell me and 3 other folks that the system wouldn't let them sell them. Noone got crazy but were upset non-the-less. (about 5 CC employees and a manager were going to sell them)

As a consolation they stated that they will hold mine, my co-worker's and two other people's units that we also going to buy one, for Sunday. They took our names and numbers and guaranteed they would hold them for us for the inconvenience.

I dont live in Macon, I was on a business trip, so I would have to have my manager go in to pick it up for me (which they were ok with-they even took his name and number) I came back the next morning to verify w/ the store manager that my manager could pick it up-----he stated that his employees should have never told me they had them and that he had "addressed" them, further that he called his district manager and was to tell me and anyone else that this happened to, that we would have to wait in line like everyone else and that it was first come, first serve. I TOLD HIM THAT ITS NOT THE EMPLOYEES FAULT THAT HE NOR ANYONE ELSE IN CORP CC HAD TOLD ANYONE THERE THAT THEY COULDNT SELL THEM!!

I asked him how they think they can hold back merchandise like this. He mumbled something about how games have release dates and cant be sold until they are released...............I pointed out that the release date on the Wii was almost month ago!! He repeated again what the district manager said.

THIS IS BS!!! They brought 4 Wii's to the counter and told 4 people they were going to sell them to us, tried to 30 minutes, only to pull them back (fair enough that the system wouldnt allow it) They compensate us by announcing to all of us will be able to pick it up on Sunday and took our names!!! Only to tell us the next day we would have to wait in line like everyone else!!!!

2 WRONGS!! I called the cool line for CC and vented (as polite as I could- I'll save the ASS showing for later- will have to wait and see what they will do)

My question to all of you is, "Do these retailers even have the right to hold merchandise from customers when its clearly released??" SOUNDS LIKE A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

I read in the papar on Wednesday that they are doing this because sales are down and they are trying to get as many people into the stores on the weekends as possible to get them to buy other stuff w/ these gaming systems...........This is why Best Buy has been kickin' CC's ASS for so long...

Only 6 available? What is CC pulling? That's simply not enough to justify a promotional ad on Sunday.

Tendoboy, take note that even BB withheld its launch Wiis for a second sale.

Pretty much every store is doing it, and even if they weren't, they're under no obligation to sell you anything. Any lawsuit would get you laughed out of court.
I hope some of you can get the $40, I had nol luck w/ that one!
Worked for me a couple weeks ago. I actually bought and went back the next day and had them do a return and re-buy with the coupon.

You realize Best Buy has these systems in stock right now and is also holding them until Sunday, right? This is an extremely common retail practice done for many items besides video games. Basically, there are hot items that retailers get in that they use as bait to get people into their stores in the hopes that they will buy other stuff or still spend money even if what they came in to get isn't in stock. This tactic actually works very well and has been used by stores for decades now. Heck, it's the same basic principle as the weekly sale ad.

Still the store manager shuld have held it for him if his employee's said that it would be held for him. A manager that doesn't back up his employees is worthless, and shouldn't even have that job. If he didn't want the employees to sell them he should have communicated the policy to his assistants and then had the assistants communicate the policy to all the employees.

If an employee tells a customer something, the manager should back them up, if the employee didn't know the policy, that's the managers fault. If the employee ignored the manager, the manager should still back up what the employee said and then fire the employee once the customer is gone. Basically it sounds like the manager is a jackass hiding behind the skirt of some district manager. These stores continue to treat people like trash, because of it they are losing alot of business to online stores. Heck you can get better service than that on Ebay.
I work retail and I've had both typs of managers, right now I've got one that backs all of his employees up, from time to time we lose money because someone messes up bu over all our store does very well because we have many repeat customers.
Hardcore gamers are some of the main repeat customers at CC & BB and it drives me crazy that they don't care about them.

Anyway I'm done ranting.

I hate to inform you, but you're only getting one discount/deal, not both.

I know the ads aren't out yet but it sounds like a sure thing Target, BB, and CC will be selling Wii systems tomorrow. Gotta get my butt out of bed early so I can snag one.

i seen the circuit city ad today, it was @ my door. Wiis tommorow and i went in there again today and asked my friend and she was like yea they got them.

Went this evening to my CC @ Seaside, CA and they also had a sign up saying where the line would start. They had 20 Wii units for tomorrow.

I was in the CC in Roanoke VA today, and they had TONS of Wii available. Tons of accessories, nuchuks, you name it, and they were selling systems. Either They were selling what they had beyond the minimum advertised tommorrow, or they done messed up, or something.

My god, those are the same idiots who made me wait around the store last Tuesday until 5pm so they could sell me and 3 other people copies of GC Zelda. I wouldn't have bothered waiting around if I lived closer. Those guys are totally random.

I'm on line @ the circuit city in Queens,NY on my sidekick. They open @ 8am. I got here @ 630am. Like 30+ people on line. Hope I get 1. I heard some pplz are here for ps3s tho. Ima try and use the $40 coupon too or if not the $25 gc

Course, at this point its too late for anyone regardless, but our CC in Cleveland only had 9.

Which makes at least one listing on the list above incorrect by alot.

Edit: Clarified what list I was referring to.
