Wild Arms Alter Code: F OOP already?

CAGiversary!
I just tracked down a copy of Wild Arms AC:F for $50 after doing some serious searching. It looks like it's out of stock virtually everywhere online, including Agetec's own site (it's been listed as "temporarily unavailable" there for a few weeks now).

I ended up finding a copy at the Fry's in Anaheim (had to call around to find an actual copy in stock).

First it gets delayed for ages, and then it vanishes in about four months. It must have had a really small print run.

Anyone else got any info about it disappearing so quickly? I'm tempted to e-mail Agetec and ask if it's really gone out of print.

I've seen a few here and there, but apparently I'm really good at finding things. It might be uncommon, but its not particularly sought after, maybe because it got pretty bad reviews?

If I recall Agetec titles can vary in availablity quite a bit. Most of their titles usually have longer staying power in stores but that's mostly because their releases aren't major events most of the time and go under most people's radars. Quality issues tend to exacerbate this issue as well as most of their games tend to reach a little bit above mediocrity at best.

Honestly, I think that they probably printed enough Wild Arms: Alter Code F to satisfy the people looking for it. I've seen a few used copies around here (it's a bit uncommon but not too difficult to find) but grabbing a new copy is a little bit out of the question. I think they just hit a print run that may have worked out fairly well for them, selling the number of copies that they had hoped for.

Of course, we also have to consider that we'll probably be seeing a surge in preowned games over the next year or so with the release of the new consoles. Even with backwards compatibility and whatnot people still tended to throw in their old games towards stores just so that PS2 or Dreamcast could come down by $100.

Just my two cents, anyway. Honestly, I found the game to be pretty good considering how old it actually is and the fact that it's a fairly competent remake.

The game is almost certainly out of print. Most video games go out of production very quickly, especially rpgs.

"Out of print" doesn't always translate into "unavailable". I'm sure there are tons of unsold copies of Wild Arms 3, considering its success (or lack there of) convinced Sony to not bother publishing Alter Code F or 4 in America.

Never said it did. Just observing that's it's humorous that 3 is still available new and the newer games are getting scarce fast. Like you said, the failure of 3 led to production being scaled back for 4 and F. People might have also been confused by the fact that there were 2 new games out for a series that rarely anyone plays. They shoud've released one of them sometime this year.

It is weird that 4 isn't scarce but Code F is.
Wild Arms 4 can easily be found at 29.99. I don't recall seeing a price drop for code f at all.

you also have to remember that wa 3, 4 and alter code f all have different publishers. Clearly they each have different expectation and printed different number of copies.

huh?
I didn't even realized that. Interesting.....
alter code f is being reprinted next tuesday 6/13/06
The 1st printing has a bonus DVD inside and the front cover has a circle that says so. Wonder if the reprints will have it too?
