Will a Falcon 360 have a higher chance of RROD than a Jasper 360?

So, I need to replace my current '06 (Zephyr?) console that has a messed up disc drive (sticky, does not read games, etc). I've seen cheap 360 consoles online that had Falcon specs, but I'd always shy away because I believe I can do better with a Jasper.

I know Jasper is the latest model that runs with less power, but how does the Falcon run? Have there been any widespread issues with a Falcon console?

Thanks so much.

I have a Zepher too. I have not had an issue yet (thank god). I always installed my games since NXE, so the disc drive is used significantly less.

As far as your question goes: I suggest getting the newest one you can afford. If for any reason something happens, the warrenty would hopefully still be intact because it is a newer console.

The Falcon isn't bad though.

You're going to have the RROD on all versions of the console, no matter the chipset. There is no "perfect" 360 version.

Falcon should be better than launch era/Zepher models, but the Jasper would be best. You're going to have the RISK of RROD on all versions, but that risk is reduced with the newest ones.

I have the Halo 3 360 which I believe is a Falcon chipset. I've never had a problem with it. My old Zepher 360 redringed.

But if I needed to get a new 360 I would try to get the newest model possible. Why buty a Falcon when you can get a Jasper?

Like others have said, you can't eliminate the threat of RROD, but each new chipset minimizes that risk.

Thanks for the help guys.

The reason I started this thread is because I could get a Falcon Xbox 360 for $100-130 on ebay/craigslist or a Jasper for $200 elsewhere. Me being a poor college student, I'm leaning towards the cheaper 360 as long as it works.

This will actually be my third console. First RROD-ed (I learned from my errors), my current one has a sticky/inconsistent disc drive & loud operating sound. I've heard Falcons are a heck of a lot quieter and are a vast improvement over the earlier 360's, but the Jasper is only slightly better than the Falcon.

If I can afford a cheaper console manufactured in '08 that works well and that console is a Falcon, I just wanted to see if it will actually last me as long as I take care of it.
